Maybe use wm command in init.d script to set desired resolution. It can read HDMI mode from txt file or something similar.

        Hi mo123!

I've sent you a private message with some quick questions -- interested in using your ROM for an AI/Machine Learning project!

Thanks for all your effort on this

They merged lots of pass-through changes that are compatible with my firmware so will be interesting to know what works.

Can use this spreadsheet to test some videos and download them
            https://mega.nz/#!cMlBgSiI!GsVLADwqm...omFxpiqed2Ulbs
NTMC should be able to work with most videos correctly.
But need some feedback about the latest Kodi 17 above and how it works.
In the above kodi passthrough does not work.
Any file i tried (samples or movies) with DTS, DTS-MA, DD, DD-TrueHD played as PCM in my Yamaha RXV781 receiver.
            I tested it with 1.7b

In your last rom 1.8 i hear noise in NTMC RKMC (last version) and MXplayer.
              The Google play problems corrected.

Can you check if you have the latest firmware installed for your audio receiver?

Also Android Settings - Sound - Set to HDMI Bitstream?
In NTMC can also try setting 'keep audio device alive' to never or always.
In NTMC also need to enable relevant AC3/DTS sound settings.

Other users reported pass-through sound working.

If i flash the new kernel and resources from 1.8 will the problem with Google play resolve in 1.7b?

My receiver is connected to internet and has auto update enabled.
Nevertheless i checked and i have the latest firmware in Yamaha.
I tried everything before reverting back to 1.7b.
I even played with HDMI mode 720,1080,4k and in several refresh rates.
                    I tried color modes.
I tried with sound default & HDMI bit-stream
In NTMC & RKMC i tried with enabled/disabled refresh rate sync
With never / always the keep audio device.
Enable and disable pass-through on the fly (during playback).
Enable & disable pass-through from settings.
Enable & disable RKcodec, Mediacodec, Mediacodec(surface).

The same in MX with HW decoder in sound. with SW decoder in sound, with HW+ decoder combined with SW decoder for sound.

Go into MXPlayer settings and download the external ffmpeg codec, then use it as the default ocdec.

If you still don't have correct sound then something is wrong with your setup as MXPlayer runs independently of the rest of the firmware system files.

I already done that... I download it though from xda forum.
The same codec i use in 1.7b and plays correctly.
i noticed that in 1.8 the libffmpeg.so and libmxffmpeg.so are different than 1.7b.
                        Could this be the problem?
When update i even wipe data before the flashing. just leting you know.

If not too late, would you mind sharing your Kodi debug logs as well as your dmesg log output during your testing? You've done a very thorough series of tests. I'm banned from the Kodi forums so this is the only place I'll get to see logs, if at all.

Mo123 I hope my request is acceptable, if not please let me know.

                          Thanks!

Shomari is right, a Kodi log will tell a lot.

There might be a problem with the firmware also, there are lots of HDMI-IN sound code I didn't remove and in the v1.7b firmware I disabled some but can't remember exactly what, so will try something later.
There will also be new firmware in a week or so with the latest code and bugfixes that should work even better.
