Hello all,
Considering buying this streamer, not the Alfawise brand (the 2gb/16gb version) and also very interested to hear if the unbranded one (specifically in Banggood site) should be the exact hardware as the reviewd Alfawise on Freaktab.
Another imporant issue for me would be the 2.4 wifi connection. Saw here very good results, better than any other box I've seen yet (2:10):
Can anyone here share his 2.4GHz wifi experience, especially if the router is not in the same room as the streamer?
Also, saw someone here saying he has no problems attaching a 1 TB external portable usb disk to it.
I have a 2TB one and plan to attach it to use for 720p movies with kodi and hopefully this should be no problem as well, both in recognition and abling to support the amperage. The streamer has 2 amps and my external HD needs 1.5 to operate.
I did see some bad comments here which gave me pause but I guess no box can escape such problems here and there:
In general I can't find too many long term reviews on this streamer so hopefully no bad surprises pop up in the future like what happened with the GT1.

I've attached a 1 TB portable disk to one of the USB ports, and a HDD USB docking station to another, while the keyboard/mouse wireless receiver is attached to one of the new discovered ports... no problems at all. I've only used 1 TB disks with the dock, but guess there would be no problems to use larger ones.

Anyone knows if there is any way to get "L1" Security Level for the Google Widevine Modular DRM in this box? I've read somewhere that this is something hardware related with the S912, so I have little hope, but just for asking... This is the only flaw/limitation I've found to the box: without "L1" is not possible to watch Netflix in HD, nor HBO content (the app runs, but doesn't start no stream).

In case the wifi fails me I'll need the external disk option.

Did you try connecting the disk directly to the streamer's usb and running video files from it in kodi?
No lagging or disk power problems?Last edited by CapH; 23 January 2017, 20:28.
