@ Trebor, I switched to my Verizon jetpack and downloaded the rom just fine. I dont use it much because I live in rural Florida and its only about 3mb down. I think its strange that my Exede satellite connection couldnt download the rom because I download stuff from Majorgeeks every day.......weird. Thanks for the help.

I think is a latency problem!

I think you are correct Superceleron. I downloaded on my Verizon cell jetpack and installed the rom already. Wow! My Yundoo Y8 scored 69213 on the stock rom and 135512 on your 7.1 rom. Its made me love my Yundoo box again.....thanks!

Yes, use factorytool. Remote won't work tho & box gets hot. Does anyone know how/where to add remotes?

              Hi,
I'm completely new to TV-boxes and stumbled upon this thread because I though my father-in-law's Yundoo Y8 did perform so very poorly that there should be a better ROM for it :-)
We tried to play 4k movies from an usb3 drive but that was bad, also streaming video was just not on par with the promising adverts of this box.
Well... luckily an updated ROM then.

Well, as said, I'm new to Android-TV-boxes and read that flashing just goes a little bit different with them then with Android phones (something which I've done various times already).

Went to find the instructions (as mentioned in first post) and found this: FactoryTool.
Unfortunately, the device that's flashed in the video is not a Yundoo but another device. That one has a reset button on the bottom that has to be pressed prior to the flashing. There's no reset button to be found on the Yundoo :-/ <-- pff.. Google is your best friend... should be in the audio jack :-)

Can anyone guide me through here please?
              Thank you.

PS1: would be great if you can tell me what's the best way to backup original Rom.
Found several tools, but don't know which would be best for this device.
Is it RockchipDumpSplit, Rockchip Create Upgrade Disk Tool v1.4,

PS2: also not sure if I need (for backup reasons) this tool: TWRP Recovery for Rockchip devices

                Hi ,

you can use the AndroidTool 2.39 or similar for flashing and backup of Stockrom ,

TWRP works too , but you need a working one for your Box and it must be flashed

first , of course you must have installed the Drivers (4.5) , that flashing works .

Rockchip flashing is not so hard , if you need more Infos , ask .

                greetings / gefattern

                  Hi gefattern,
As I'm not mistaken there's the latest stock rom on this box.
I hope to get this custom rom working 'cause I advised my father-in-law to buy this box as it was 'the best of the best'.. well... not!
I have to mend some things so to speak :-)

I'm gonna try this AndroidTool 2.39, didn't find it in the utilities section for RK box, what's strange, would be obvious in my opinion.
Latest version is to be found here, v5.00: https://androidmtk.com/download-rockchip-factory-tool
                  Hope that works too (?)

Hope it's self-explanatory. I'm not into bricking this thing :-)
Might you have some more info's (a short tutorial/instruction perhaps) that would be great.
                  Thank you.

My device is yundoo y8 4Gb-32Gb. I flashed the firmware Yundoo_Y8_SCV1-7.1.2. I have a some bugs. The usb devices doesn't work after reboot or they were plugged before power on. A devices will work after reconnect on a booted system. Devices class is an air-mouse, an usb-keyboard, an usb-bridge as a dock-station for a sata hdd.

Could you add a support init.d in core? Is it possible?

I made temporary solution. I compiled small tool usbreset and wrote bash script.
