Unfortunately, the kernel doesn't support ethernet.

Finless, could you pleeease incorporate the fix in your kernel?
Since we do not YET have X7 kernel sources we cannot get everything working fro the X7. A couple guys are working on it now though.

Is that safe to run without cooling?

        static noise over hdmi audio

Does anybody else get some light static noise and ticking over hdmi audio? Happens mostly when there is a lot of white on screen? Not constantly though. It's not on the headphone out. Using the supplied hdmi cable.

Right, well last night I was trying to take some screen shots of how the SD card mounts and suddenly the SD card got stuck, after some fiddling it came out and I heard a small cracking sound. Pushed the card back in and suddenly the 'push to eject' motion was working. Before it didn't, I just pushed the card in and pulled it out, I didn't think anything of it before, just thought that was the normal function. Straight away the card seemed to mount differently, with a permanent status notification displaying.

Then tried some read/writes to the card including a Titanium backup and it was fine, which before was VERY patchy with Titanium often crashing or the backups just freezing the unit half way through.

          ES then, again all good.

Used the box all night with zero crashes including XBMC.

Very happy now, seems that I had a similar problem to what someone else reported with a incorrect fitting of the SD card reader.

Finally the box seems to be all I hoped it would be. I don't use 1080, 720 works perfectly streams over my WiFi with a great picture on my 40inch screen.

          Happy man today!!!

            I am on 720p version.
Choppiness and jiddering in tune in radio and xbmc.
Device startup time more than 3minutes with this ROM. Under 2 minutes with original rom.
1 freeze more in tune in startup. I must take the power adapter.
            You others have similar?

Cold boot does seem to take a long time, I was getting multiple shutdowns and freezes until I sourced the problem to the SD card.

Not tried Tunein yet but XBMC wasn't good before, fine now

I don't have any sdcard plugged in.
It's very annoying that jiddering when you hear music too.

I have been running the 1920MHz/720MHz version on my T428 since the day it was released without any extra cooling. When idling the temperature of the device stays very close to that of my hand. When watching HD movies or running AnTuTu, the device warms to appx. 55C. I'm using a 4A PSU to power the device and have not had a single reboot or system-level freeze with this kernel. The AnTuTu score I get with it is ~18300.

Note that with this kernel version, the lowest frequency the CPU will be running at is 1200MHz. I also suggest using the ondemand governor and noop i/o scheduler with it.

Is there any danger in the long term always running the CPU at , at least 1200 ? Ive been feeling the box and it isn't warm at all so it seems OK.

"A governor is a driver for the regulation of CPU Frequency." The various Android governors and schedulers are explained in detail here.

YMMV, but based on my personal experiences the ondemand/noop combination seems to work best with these kernels. You can easily change the governor/scheduler in use with a CPU control app (e.g. 'no-frills CPU Control' or 'AnTuTu CPU Master Free').

Thanks for the tip, already took a look at the xda site and grab an idea how to accomplish your advice.

                              1.4a and playing games

Okay, I am still looking for help/info/advice concerning the 8gb or 10gb parameter file... any help?

I am still running Finless 1.4a 720p no_air, and it is stable. I am using a Lexar SD card 32gb, and no problems with it or the SD card holder. My X7 is a 2nd batch machine, so maybe that was firxed by factory after the 1st batch shipped.

Anyhow, this morning I loaded up ShadowGun and my trusty xbox 360 controller. The game doesn't like to get started. It crashed the system several times during startup, but finally got going and played like silky smooth.

So far I am very happy with 1.4a, and not sure if I should upgrade to 1.5 -- I wonder if I can get 8gb/10gb parameter files for 1.4a?? Or can I use those parameter files from 1.5 with 1.4a??

                                SDK2 ???

I just read about the RockChip SDK2. Any chance of a Finless rom using SDK2? Or is this something that would need Minix to release their source code before that could be done??

From what I read, the SDK2 is looking VERY good with even higher Antutu scores than what we have seen so far with the standard Minix type roms... which I guess are based on SDK1 (which makes absolutely no sense, seeing how poor it is).
