i am new here, but i read about x99 box. I have ordered it from UK but now i see here that i will have truoble with kodi? Is that correct? It is not just kodi that i want. For me is most important to
watch movies and series from my external hdd, and also series ....I don t play games. So i am affraid that buying this box was a mistake? i become the box in about 10 days.
Maybe some comments from you...would be nice. Thanks and sorry for bad english

-X99 have many BUGS!

-KODI;like another story! with stock ROM,Kodi doesnt work!
but if you install CRom Kodi OK(you will find this ROM and how to install it details etc.,)
And with this ROM also Kodi 18.0 having issue(Kodi 17.6 OK)

For my opinion,if you want to buy RK3399 Box then prefere H96(see this thread)

-For external use from HDD/USB no any issue,very fast and picture quality best also you can play Games too

-For me,to buy this Box a "mistake"!!!

So you should before buying RK3399 Box pls read firstly H96(or any other Box which is RK3399)

And asking you that why you prefere RK3399???
Or why not AML912??

If your criteria is KODI+externalHDD use go to AML912

Thank you for quick answer. As i wrote i oredered it already....so it is what it is. Kodi is for me just an option...it can also be Plex, Stremio, Emby, and maybe Terrarium. I just hope it works fine with external hdd and
plays movies smooth and 4k would be great. I hope that this box can do this. Iam not perfect for computer things and new firmware would make me problems except if tutorial is very good writen.

Hi again, you asked why i bought this box.....in some compare tests it was very good and there were no ishiuse with kodi. But as i said kodi is for me not most important.

1-X99 with KODI(even 18 or 17 versions) with org.StockROM "ISSUE" check carefully this thread(back messages)!

2-Now we use CustomROM(or whatever called) version Dated;2018.05.25
so if you want to use KODI then you have to flashed this Firmware!!!

3-I'v also tested Kodi "18" with the new Firmware but failed not worked stable etc.,!!!
than back to 17,6

4-I'hvnt try yet;Plex/Stremio/Emby but TerraiumTV O.K(I'v installed to the Device APK not Kodi!)

5-External HDD/USB-Flash O.K no problem for reading and no any Format/Codec issue as well
4K playing O.K(it depend on your content!)

6-Internet WiFi performance not bad not good! but I do not like it,so I use with Ethernet! and even with
this Ethernet connection,still speed performence so-so!!

so if i want to use kodi a firmflash is must. When my box recieve( about 7-10. august ), will tell about my experience. Just one question: is flashing a new firmware difficult, i mean can the box break? Must know i am not good at this things ( maybe to old 60 years )....i hope i find good instructions....for me in german language would be better. If not i will leave the box so as it is and be happy without kodi.

Flashing instruction;you will find in this thread pls check,one another X99 user give us very clear instructions for that

Dont worry about this and be patient and check past messages one by one then you will find all necessary explanations

Note;without flashing firmware you will not use KODI ever!!! so if you want KODI than flash your firmware once!

Terrariumtv and other Apk.s as it means that you will install to your Box its very simple

No, i am from Slovenia....but german language is closer to me.....live 15 min from Austria.
So now i wait to became the box and then i will decide flashing or not...it depence if i will be happy with other apps or i will try kodi.

Hi, everyone,
yesterday my x99 box arrived. I put everything together and tryied a litlle bit. Everything works fine, 4k video is ok and streaming also very fast. I have aroun 90 mb download speed and 6 mb upload.
Kodi 17.6. is working with a lot of bugs and it is almost unpossible to use. And i have another problem : sometimes the box recognized the external hdd via usb and sometimes not. Until now i did not find out
why is that so. Everything else is great and works like : Terrarium tv, Redbox , Megabox hd, popcorn....
But i don t play games, so how do games work i don t know.
In next days i will decide flashing new firmware 22.5.2018 or not. I never did this, so must carefully read the posts here.

-With org.Stock firmware KODI not worked stable!

example;when you installed some of Addons etc., and than making some of your own settings...

Keep in mind pls;
If you get "power-off" your device then all KODI addons and your settings deleted!!!

So if you want KODI in this Box than you should flash your Box!
After than KODI 17.6 OK But KODI "18.0 Leia Alpha 3" again problem dont install 18.0

-Box very fast,picture quality very good;even 4K videos OK as well

-Box for Internet WiFi performance not so good! I connected with Ethernet cable!

-Ext.HDD problem;same as me!!

Use USB3.0 port only! but there is a Bug here,sometimes box rejected/not recognized connected HDD!!!
or re-connect HDD again(when connected)

you will warned such as;"usb mount connected"

Might be some HDDs not competible with this Box such as I have;

-Toshiba;when connected,sometimes does not work!
-Seagate;OK
-WD;little bit problem!

so than I use only Seagate

NOTE:when I'v connected my HDDs via "Type-C" port same problems having!

This Box having HDD recognize issue!

-Game is OK too dont worry about this

but Box get more heat
even play a long time movies(720/180 or UHD)

Box temp rise!

-"Flashing" >>> if you wanna use this Box yo have to do this!

Read msgs very carefull,one guy explained how to do this flashing!

Now i tried Intenso 2Tb and is working fine with one isiue...sound
Sound is after 1 or 2 min away.....it starts with some wired anouning sound....so it can not be watch!

If i understand you, i must flash rooted version dated on 22.5 2018...?
I hope everything will be o.k.

I will do this because i like watching movies from hard drive ( have a lot of them with slovene subtitles or in german language.

One question to you: you did flashing a lot of times?
If i follow the rules i hope it will be o.k.

-for your HDD issue;seems a "Lip-sync" issue,but your describe kinda different,I do not say at the moment

But keep in mind,try another HDD!! or more HDDs and try 1Tb instead 2Tb!

If Lip-sync issue occured,this can be solved(try settings might be you will find,I do not know where and how)

This Box as I told you that some of ext.HDD recognize problems!

So best way to understand,try different HDDs

And what about to read USB-flash memory???? is it OK

-Yes 2018522 Rooted version OK(or at least for KODI 17.6 is OK now)

-I also same with you,watching movies/clips from my HDDs

"Subtitles"I do not know,not used but I guess no any issue with this

But tried this last Rooted version couple of times too
So if you go step by step than you do this flashing>>>find back pages "for how flashing"!
