just tried, I can boot to CE / LE from both SD/USB only problem is wifi/bt. No need for downgrade to 8.0, only right dtb. USB wifi dongle also works but its messy

so you have mecool km8 android certified 9.0 box 16/2Gb? and you just changed dtb to which one? so the bootloader is not locked? can you do the video on youtube?

Above posts that coreelec boot with android 9 is working, isn't true. I have tested it and there is no way to boot from SD or USB when running Android 9.
After downgrade possible again.

I?m able to boot, i bought km8 a week a go from aliexpress, it is android 9 certified, i needed to push reset switch and power button switch in the same time, the power supply pushed to box and i booted what ever i like form sdcard, but there is no wifi, i choose dtd from 29. Page. Wifi is sooo poor in android 9!!! Is there a link to android 8 for this box? i have ap6236 wifi chip

It's the same version my KM8 came with, but my box has AP6212 WiFi chip which works OK on Android 8. I never updated to Android 9...
It's installed via USB stick...

so you if you want to boot from SD card you need to do it manually (by pushing reset and front button)? After next reboot, box will boot into nand/Android or SD?

Next reboot will be to SD card if it is inserted. It will always automatically boot to SD card until it is removed. If SD card is removed it will boot to Android.

I don't know if mine is AP6236 or AP6212, only that it's just as bad in Android 9 as it was in Android 8.

Very simple, probably if WIFI/BT doesn't work with current stable LE/CE that is sure newer 6236. Other than that you may open box or use ssh command

soooooo I have updated to android 9 and was able to boot from SD card to latest available stable Coreelec release for this box, but I am unable to turn it off now, from android it is possible, but if turning off from Coreelec it will just reboot. Is someone else facing this also or it is only my problem ?

yes it is the same as mine but i do not consider it a big problem for me. Almost every generic device has some problem
