It may be a problem in the source code... but I don't have the source code, so unless we ever get something like Cyanogen running... you may be out of luck.

Here are a few more things to try...

Try it with the external SD card removed. Because the external SD card is mounted as a folder inside the internal SD card, i've seen it cause problems before.

Try first uninstalling some apps, then moving the remaining ones... maybe it needs some free space in /data to move things around.

Try erasing the internal SD card and reformatting your external SD card, maybe one of them is corrupted.

When I get the new ROMs posted, try reflashing it, maybe your system or cache is corrupted.

        Hi,

I hv send he google drive link for the backup image. Guess is ok
Yes the flash is the firmware of 1.37 GB
App storage total space is 401 MB, apps-398 MB, available - 97.52 MB (?)

        NAND Total: 2.44 GB
        apps: 3.57 MB
        audio: 200 KB
        downloads: 6 MB
misc: 873 MB (just filled some files for test)
        available: 1.56 GB

        SD: total 3.69 GB
available: 3944 MB (aso filled with files for testng)

I'll try to reformat the NAND.
        Already changed many times the SD with 512MB, 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB.
No changes to move apps to NAND.

By the way all the batch delivered to the loca dealer have the same problem.

You'll have to reformat the internal SD card from within system settings, if it works... I haven't finished testing, but I think I have identified a bug in the init.rc script of the stock recovery that prevents the internal SD card from mounting in recovery. I suspect this probably affects all Nextbook M3 Chip single core models. If I'm correct, I used the stock init.rc script in all of my recoveries, but I can correct it and upload new TWRP recoveries that properly mount both SD cards.

I don't know if reformatting will fix the issue you are having with moving Apps to SD... if it doesn't, the only other possibility will be flashing a different ROM (You'll never see an update from Nextbook) and there are not currently any alternative ROMs available.

Already erased, unmount and mount the nand, actually at 0MB, Read/write files ok but still ''can't move apps to sd'' (with/without external SD). Should be a bug somewere. I wrote to Nextbook's, but dumbs replyed 'erase pics, music and movies to free memory'' :_(

Yeah, at that point, it has to be either a hardware issue or a source code issue. I don't think I can do anything about it unless I can port a different Android version or build something liken Cyanogen from source, and that isn't likely to happen anytime soon, especially considering I don't own one of these to test on.

Sorry, not yet... I bricked my Next8P12 trying to test the Next7P12-8G ROM on it, and it took a while to get it fixed... I have just a few more things left to do with it.

                      Hi,

Have-you got the sys dump files I made with the TWRP you posted. I have send You the link to my google drive a couple of weeks ago. I hope You have found some time to take a look at. I the backup correct. Can I use it for recovery if I mess something with the sys files?

By the way with the cmd "set install location 2" some apps didn't install at all saying "couldn't install on USB storage or SD card", others install to internall as before.

So the problem must be some erroneous code, cause otherwise internal storage mounts/works fine.

I saw somewhere that it comes from an xml file, but I lost the link !

So pls can I use the TWRP backup I made for a system restore or unbrick my tab?

                      rgds

If you use the backup feature in TWRP, you can restore that backup using the restore feature in TWRP. It will backup and restore your system, data, cache, boot and recovery partitions. It will not backup or restore the bootloader, so if you flash a bad bootloader, you'll need an unbrick kit, otherwise you can boot TWRP from external SD card and restore your TWRP backup.

App developers are able to specify the install location for their apps, some apps may not support external installs by design.

Tks a lot for the info abt the TWRP. Any other way to backup/restore just the bootoader on this tablet without an unbrick kit?

About app developers it's ok. That so one guy said that he opens the xml manifest on a dowloaded app, edits the install location to external, then re-signs the app with google tools, and avoids by this way the same problem "apps don't move t SD". Must check this this weekend and will let you know.

See my post here about how to do manual ROM dumps to backup the bootloader partition:

Restoring the bootloader partition requires flashing it via an update.zip (and possibly an unbrick kit if the internal bootloader is screwed).

I'll be releasing new ROMs for this model (hopefully this weekend) that backup up everything before installing the new ROM, and flash the bootloader as part of the new rom.
