question about model i bought from walmart?

I will be receiving a nextbook7p12-8G in the mail I bought from Wal-Mart on Tuesday. It is the one that is on sale right now. I want to root it straight out of the box, but am unsure if the type processor in tablet makes a difference on if it will root or not. It has a 1GHz Cortex A9 processor, and 1GB DDR3 of system memory and 8GB on-board storage memory, Android 4.0 OS (Ice Cream Sandwich). I just need to know if this is the right rooting process for this tablet ,and If not could someone point me in the right direction if it possible to root this tablet at all. Thanks in advance.

Yes and No... this will work, but don't flash my stock ROM. Nextbook used two different WiFi chips in this model. My stock ROM only supports WiFi on one of the two models. I'm currently working on custom ROMs for both WiFi versions.

You can use the modified recovery and the kyser-root.zip. Just don't use the ROM.

Alternatively, you can also root with Cydia Impactor, but the Kyser-root is probably easier.

I read in another forum I should only have to use the first and third link, and unless I had a messed up rom there would be no reason to flash anyways. Ok I got the tablet set up the WIFI, and rooted it with no problem what so ever. I need to know how to make a complete backup of the state it is on right now. I have downloaded titanium but man its like reading another language to me.I have never backup anything before. I had a DOPO tablet screw up on me last week and I could not figure out how to fix it, so I calmly threw it against the wall, and the took a jig saw to it. If I would have backed it up maybe I could have fixed it. Is there any program I can use to just click one time and make a backup of everything just the way it is, so I can save my ass next time.?

I'll have my files for this model ready soon. CWM will backup and restore everything but the firmware parts of the ROM.

My custom ROM will reinstall all the firmware parts. It will also completely dump the existing ROM before install in case something goes wrong.

Yeah, but I haven't released a CWM for this model yet. It will be available soon. Just don't go messing around with your /system partition unless you know what you're doing.

i should have read the feedback thread.

i am one of those people that did not do their research and used your rom for a seemingly dead nextbook but it did work with the now well known missing or wrong wifi driver . in any case i wanted to say thanks for at least helping me add life to the tablet. i have not rooted it just used your rom and the modded recovery 3e file. thanks again sir.

Root will work, feel free to use it, but you'll need the new ROM for WiFi. I'm working on it, it'll be ready soon.

This is just a new recovery. The next release will address wifi issues and more. Trying to finish it between work, school, family, etc...
