Thanks for helping out in the forums and answering questions guys...

I'm going to try to block out some dev time this weekend. Getting the unbrick kits and new ROMs tested and released for the Next8HD8G's are first on my list. Getting CWM recovery and new ROMs released for the Next7P12-8Gs is next.

FYI. CWM recovery will allow you to do a full nandroid backup that will dump everything but your bootloader and restore those backups when desired. Also, all new ROMs will include a script that will dump your current bootloader, along with a copy of your build.prop and dmesg output to your external SD card before the install begins. Assuming you also make a nandroid backup before installing, this will ensure that if an incompatible ROM is flashed in the future, you'll be able to upload your stock backups so we can quickly make an unbrick kit and stock ROM compatible with whatever model version you have.

Please Help!!I have done everything described here 10 times over & installation aborts!

my nextbook model next7p12-8g boots to this, (colors and wording exact)
"Android system recovery <3e>"(after running through the 2 boot images)
And It always ends like this after trying 100 times as described by several who have succeeded.
      "Opening update package...
      Verifying update package...
      E: signature verification failed
      Installation aborted."

      "-- Install /sdcard...
      Finding update package...
      Opening update package...
      Verifying update package...
      E:failed to verify whole-file signature
      E:signature verification failed
      Installation aborted.
      "

[QUOTE=shaunmt;95740]These files are for the Amlogic Nextbook Next7P-8G commonly sold at Wal Mart.

      Here is what you get:

      Modified Stock 3e Recovery:

This is the stock recovery, dumped from the device, unpacked, modified to use Google Test Keys instead of Private Nextbook Keys and then repackaged for your enjoyment.

Unzip and place the uImage_recovery file on your external SD Card. Reboot to recovery by holding Volume and Power. You won't notice any visual changes, but you can attempt to flash any .zip signed with Google Test Keys.

Your mileage may vary. If something won't flash there is a compatibility problem between the updater-binary or updater-script and our kernel/recovery.

      Stock Rom:

This is a close as I could get to a flashable stock rom.

This contains a stock bootloader.img, boot.img, uImage_recovery, logo.img, and aml_logo.img dumped from the device. The system partition was also dumped from the device. I believe all of the Nextbook bloatware is here, with nothing added and NO ROOT. Everything has been packaged into an update.zip and signed with Google Test Keys. This WILL reformat System, Data and Cache. Backup any critical data before flashing.

Place the update.zip on external SD Card and flash using the modified recovery above.

      Root Package:

This is a flashable .zip that installs the su binary and has been signed with Google Test Keys.

Put it on your external SD Card and flash it using the modified recovery above. Then install your preference of Superuser.apk or SuperSu.apk from the Google Play store or elsewhere.

      ROM Version History:

      Enjoy!

If signature verification fails, you're either not successfully booting to a modified recovery, or you are trying to install a package that is not signed correctly.

If you'd like further assistance, please provide more information.

        Specifically:

What recovery are you attempting to use?
What steps did you take to install the recovery?
What steps are you taking to boot to recovery?
What file are you attempting to flash?
Has the file you are attempting to flash been modified?

Alright, new issue as far as I can tell.
I rooted my tablet a few weeks ago, and a few days ago, something I did bricked it. Upon restarting it for the last time, it fell into a loop.
Loading into recovery mode tells me
          E:Bad bootloader arguments "(null)"
          E:unknown volume for path [/udisk/factory_update_param.aml]
          E:Can't mount /udisk/factory_update_param.aml

Attempting to apply any of the three files (modded recovery, stock, rooting) in the download thread fails.
Two due to the usual whole-file signature dialogue. The third, the modded recovery zip that only contains the uImage_Recovery, gives only
          E:signature verification failed.

          Any suggestions?

The messages about bootloader arguments and factory_update_param.aml in recovery are normal and nothing to be concerned about.

It sounds like you either aren't using the modified recovery correctly or the files you are trying to flash are corrupted.

Redownload the modified recovery and the stock ROM.

Unzip the modified recovery and put the uImage_recovery file on your external SD card.

Add the unopened stock ROM zip file to your external SD card.

Insert the SD card, hold volume- and power to boot to recovery.

            Then flash the stock ROM.

Any luck with CWM today shaun?
Also, your stock rom of next7p12 -8g worked on my 4g. the only thing that didnt work was the camera. any ideas why?

I Flashed this guys rom and the camera worked, but then the Wi-Fi didnt work. So there has to be something in each rom effecting this. Is there a way i can replace files from one rom to the other?

I built CWM for the NX8000NBD_WMN last night... the Next7P12-8G will probably be next.

The Next7P12-8G and Next7P12-4G probably have different camera hardware. Either that, or it didn't install properly... it could have ran out of space, considering it tried to format the 4gig partitions using the 8gig partition layout.

Swapping parts of the system folder would require resigning the ROM package. The hardware drivers are hard coded in the kernel. The only hardware related items in the ROM are the shared library files.

Ok. For now i will stick with yours, the camera is not that important. Which thread should i keep up with to find out if CWM or Cyanogenmod have been completed?

I'm planning to keep all the CWM builds together in the same thread.

I'll be creating new threads eventually for Unbrick Kits, Stock Based ROMs and Cyanogenmod (If I ever get it completely working).

If you haven't already, You might want to subscribe to my Dev Bio thread (link is in my Signature). I plan to update it with development progress and new releases.

Couldn't find clayda anywhere and the other (kyser) failed as well.

Thinking I've wasted my money on this POS and may soon run it through a grinder and send it back to them.

At any rate, thanks for the attempted help. It is appreciated.

Having the correct name helps to locate things I'll give it a go later tonight. Gotta pull it out of the grinder and find some super glue first.

This worked! I didn't realize that the uImage_recovery had to be in the root of the SD card. I thought it was flashed same as the rest of it, and then you flashed the stock ROM. Makes me wonder how I managed to root the thing in the first place.
But now, some interesting (and irritating) things happened.
A lot less Bloatware was installed in this stock as opposed to what was originally on the device, and I can't seem to turn on my Wi-Fi. When I set it to ON, it sits on Turning Wi-Fi on. I suppose this is out of the jurisdiction of this feedback thread, but, have you got any other suggestions?

It sounds like you flashed the stock ROM? You didn't need to do that. The current Stock ROM is for a newer version with a different WiFi chip. I'll be posting some older versions very soon that are for the older versions with different WiFi chips.
