Amlogic Next7P12-8G Modified Recovery - Stock Rom & Flashable Root

First off, Thank you for doing this for us.

I have the next7p12-8g and
I decided to proceed without knowing my serial number.

The root package installed sucessfully.
I was able to remove a app that I thought was causing all of her havoc.
After a couple of hours the tablet is still acting glitchy and generally fubar.

My next step was to reset to factory defaults through settings.
Tablet still acting fubar!

My next step was to use shaunmt stock rom file and then re-root.
It was a no go after several attempts, reformatting my sd card, re downloading the files.
NOPE! Signature fails and installation was aborted over and over again.

This morning...I tried again and the root process is complete...
I never even removed the sd card from lastnights ordeal.

I suspect a lot of these cheap Nextbook tablets have faulty NAND memory blocks, which don't always flash correctly. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we will ever be able to do anything about this, because the only way to prevent this type of error would be to perform a low level reformat of the NAND to retest and mark the bad blocks so that they are skipped and never used again, and we don't have the tools to do this.

Also, people need to understand that "factory reset" doesn't work they way they expect it to. A factory reset only wipes data and cache. It doesn't do anything to the system partition because the system partition is assumed to be read only, which means it should never ever change, but of course many of us are rooting and then making the system partition read / write so we can add or remove system apps and edit the build.prop. If we make a change to the system partition that causes crashes or bricks the tablet, the only way to restore it is to flash a ROM.

I'm new to this forum and saw You have don and doing great job!
Have a Next7P12-GP (4GB), ML876-M3 Cortex A9, ID:S7JEXT7P12, sn YF081301858, kernel 2.6.34, and.v. 4.1.1, build no: v2.0.1IML74K.user.root.20130719. A new mod with mini HDMI socket.

No app wants to move to the SD. Have tried with 2 other sets from the same batch - same issue. But all works fine with the previous model.

What could bethe reason - a bug or it needs to be rooted?

Have some other Android devices (all rooted wih mods and are ok).

Can I use Your "Kyser_Root-signed.zip"? How could I back-up the whole sys like with the "CWM" before I do any chages?

I don't know why you are having problems with moving apps to SD, although I can tell you that you can only move apps to the internal SD partition. It is not possible to move apps to an external SD card, when an internal SD card partition also exists.

Yes, you can use the kyser_root-signed.zip to root your tablet. It must currently be installed using my modified 3e recovery.

If want to do a nandroid backup, you may want to wait until I release CWM recovery for your tablet, which will be very very soon. It is final testing currently.

Wiping or flashing should eventually fix it.

Try wiping both data and cache twice each before rebooting.

If that doesn't work try reformatting your external so card (backup any data first) re download the rom then flash again.

If is still doesn't work repeat until it does.

Yes, one more think. When downloading 9-10 apps from GPS I get the mesage "no more room", app storage becomes full (while internal SD is nearly empty) and finally it freezes!
So I think the reason is maybe same.

Have you verified that the internal SD card partition is even mounting? Does it show up under storage in settings? Can you move files to it via a file browser app or download to it using it web browser app?

on my daughter tablet is working great and the tablet is the same i check the chip inside and both is identical i can`t figuring out whats wrong .

I verified that move to SD works on the Next8P12 (Amlogic M3 version w/ 4.0.4), Next7HD8G (M6 w/ 4.1.1) and Next8HD8G (M6 w/ 4.1.1).

Root is not required.

However, I also noticed that it doesn't work on all apps. Have you tried different apps?

What were you doing before it stopped working? Did it stop after flashing something, or did it just suddenly stop mysteriously?

And by "not working" would I be correct in assuming that you can't even turn wifi from "Off" to "On" in settings?

Yeah... I thought it was something like that. This is a common issue. Many have experienced it, including myself, on a variety of Nextbook models.

It is definitely due to a bad flash. To the best of my knowledge, in every case this has happened, it was eventually resolved by either wiping data and cache or reflashing the ROM.

Did you download the ROM from the website again in case it was corrupted during the previous download?

Did you try reformatting the external SD card on your PC?

Yes i did . you think can be the memory card ? when is flashing i dont receive any error every thing go smooth
