Amlogic Next7P12-8G Modified Recovery - Stock Rom & Flashable Root

Regarding WiFi, it never gets as far as even seeing my router, which it did before I played with it. It stays at trying to turn WiFi on.
By screen flipping, I mean when you are holding it horizontal and then rotate the screen 90-degrees.... the display no longer rotates or 'flips'.

Well, at this point, it couldn't hurt to try flashing again to see if something went wrong last time, but I suspect that Nextbook has either changed the hardware in the tablet making this ROM incompatible, or you actually have a different model, like maybe the newer NX007HD8G, which Wal Mart also sells.

Unfortunately, if either the hardware changed in the Next7P12-8G or you actually have a different model like the NX007HD8G, there isn't much that can be done until someone else with the same model/revision dumps the current ROM from their device and posts it. Nextbook hasn't released any official ROMs since they switched from RockChip to Amlogic hardware over a year ago.

I've download the three files twice and have reflashed a couple of times....so I'm betting you're right. Caulk it up to the cost of playing

Worse case... I think Wal Mart has a 15 day return policy? If you get a new one, flash the root only next time, then let me know. I'd love to help you dump the original stock system so I can see what is different and make a new ROM package.

I think what I'm going to do is take it back to Walmart and get the 8" (model #NX008HD8G), because it has Jelly Bean. I didn't know much about Android tablets until I bought the NEXT7P12-8G....and now, I want Jelly Bean instead of ICS.

I haven't noticed much difference between ICS and JB on these Nextbook tablets, but personally, I really prefer the 8 inch screen size, although cases or covers can be harder to find that fit.

It's pretty simple:

1. Download the modified recovery .zip file.
2. Unzip the recovery file.
3. Put the "uImage_recovery" file from the recovery .zip on your external SD Card.
4. Download the root .zip file. (Do NOT Unzip)
5. place the root .zip file on your external SD Card.
6. Turn off tablet, put SD Card in (if not already in)
7. Hold Volume and Power. (Tablet will boot into the modified recovery it finds on the SD card)
8. Choose install from EXT. (Volume keys to navigate list, Power button to select.)
9. Choose the root .zip file.
10. Wait for finish.
11. Reboot.
12. Download your choice of Supersu or Superuser from the Play Store.

Note: There is NO need to flash the ROM if you just want ROOT. The ROM is only needed by people who have screwed up their firmware.

That message is normal. You can ignore it and proceed to the next step. The recovery always looks for that file, if found, it does an automatic install instead of providing you with a menu.

After i select the root.zip file. it verifies it then a error follows it and the installations gets aborted. This is just like mohamed firat post.

What is the error? Did the signature verification fail?

You didn't open or rename the kyser_root.zip did you? That would break the signature.

Nevermind. You were not supposed to rename it... or open it.

What is the error message that you recieve when you try to flash kyser_root.zip?
