Just installed before testing i'd like to know if i have to check or uncheck the en_pk install at first boot and also which launcher to use? the pipo family one?

you guys rock and make a good job but unfortunately this is the same sentece that everyone say in every forum.

Unfortunately the point is that people reach forums for a reason, they find themselves in a big enviroment where they dunno nothing of the community and subforums, dunno where to go and who to speak to, and 99% of the times the search button doesn't help, and this wouldn't be a problem if a person would have to time to search, but most people (at least people like me) do this in few spare minutes and don't even have the time to make a click.

for example i apprecciate your help and i don't want to bother you or to appear unpolite or unable to search, but i spent ten minutes and i didn't recognize where to go to get this stock latest firmware with your hint to go on service => m9pro... yeah i know i'm noob

Thanks man, downloading 1gb of real racing 3 files to see if this time the wifi works, let's keep fingers crossed, it's going full speed and still holding connection for about 2 minutes now... probably this solved my problems with riley 1,9 test 2

Leave the 'en_pk' on. Use any launcher you like (there are a few dozens on the market...)
Try to think for yourself a bit - that's how we all learn in the process ...

What did you install? If RileyRom v1.9 test2 then do not uncheck, Use standard launcher. If stock Rom do not uncheck, use stock launcher. If katsy rom DO uncheck, no choice with launcher. Please note rileyrom v1.9 test 2 is being tested [hence the word test in the version name] i would advise you go back to stock if you are unsure of your hardware.

Just joking, thank you all guys, i'm gonna reflash for the 12gb partition and use the EN_PK Install feature

About the "try to thing by yourself" i always do, but when some hidden or bugged features are beside the angle i can never know, for example on kasty i discovered that somehow for a bug the en_pk install must be unckecked before proceeding.

Still downloading hopefully, 10% now... but looks like it's keeping freezing from time to time and going slower, let's hope it won't get disconnected otherwise i'm at the starting point

No worries neewbie, and thanks for the thanks! The slow down and looking like its freezing is the internet, you are downloading from China and fighting your way through the great chinese firewall. Be patient and keep the power on the tablet, it could take an hour to get. Don't worry about the tablet wifi, its solid as a rock now - - been on mine all evening without a glitch

Was wondering about another thing

Firstly i installed the 1.9test2 with 2gb partition with unchecked en_pk install, and i didn't have the wifi display thing which is totally useless and i was happy of this, cause i also read somewere else that removing/disabling it helps wifi to be more stable.

Now when i reinstalled this 1.0test2 with 8gb partion and checked en_pk install (these were the only 2 changes from the first to second installation) i have again the wifi display thing... do you know what does it really do? if it can be unistalled and if it in this case is linked with the en_pk install?

Just for safety if i do uncheck the en_pk install what will the major changes be? can i survive without it?

That's a system app. I left it in this last ROM. some people have wifi devices on their tv's to stream video...that's what it's for.

Put in as much as you want to, app wise.

Just use a good backup tool.

I go with Titanium backup.
Change the backup storage directory to your external sd.......
Then restore all your apps and data when you flash a new ROM....
You just have to re-install titanium backup.
The PRO version of titanium can be had for a 6 dollar donation (registration file will be sent to you).

Got real problems after upgrading to Riley 1.8. I've followed the instructions and the flashing seemed to be good. However after flashing the tablet wouldn't boot anymore. I've tried to follow the instructions as mentioned in the Q&A and i've tried to do a flash with a bootloader. No result so far. So now i'm stuck with a piece of ............

Any help is welcome.

Pete' problem [challenge]

Before flashing 1.9 /2 I installed 1.8 without any problems (besides auto-reseting from sleep now and than).
My suggestion to you is to download 1.9 test 2 (or wait for 2.0) (from #195, page 10) and install it (it works perfectly with me).
However, make 100% sure that you erase the NAND (IDB) and that the process ended ok before flashing the ROM. Use the procedure and ROM_Flash_Tool_137 that is in the package.
It should work...
