K-R42 - wasser firmware - JB Android 4.2.2

Dear all,

I'm a newbie when comes to flashing. I own a KR42 with wifi/bluetooth chipset AP6210. I don't know which files do I select and how the flashing going to be done? Appreciate your help and patience...

To figure out what firmware/kernel works for your unit
We first need to know.. what version/revision you have.. this is done by opening the unit
And then looking at the pcb/motherboard

There are screws under need the rubber-pads of your unit

I flashed old version kernel-wasser-k_r42_old-1.2.5
I have a TN-BX09_V2.1 motherboard.
Seems OK... still odd things like

1/ BBC Iplayer only plays on wifi, not ethernet... says something like it needs a network connection to play this page... Plays fine on Wifi,
2/ Netflix never plays HD... only SD quality
3/ Google Play Music still has the one track bug... the following tracks are silent.
4/ sluggish at times and occasional freeze/reboots (4x in one day)

I would like to try the kitkat but it seems there are a lot more things not working, or that require fixes, which I am not too keen on doing.

Do you also try the 1.2.3? I have no freeze/reboots with standard kernel.
I like the 1.2.3 but don't use same apk's like you use.
You also can try some smooth oc kernel (e.g. kernel-k_r42_old_revision_cpu1704_ddr720_1080p_gpu600h)
Maybe you also have a look at UPDATED - Beyond XBMC (Beta 3.4)

Since writing that I tried Kitkat, Q7, now back to lewy 3.2...
But I will try 1.2.3 if 3.2 starts crashing a lot.

I've been using 1.25 since it came out.

I thought that the iPlayer not working over ethernet was quite possibly that it it has been developed to check WiFi and 3G connections only but not having another Android ethernet enabled device to check, I can't be sure.

On boot-up I find it sluggish too but I leave it alone for 5 minutes and then use a task killer to kill off unwanted processes, which then allows it to run smoothly for a couple of hours.

Then I kill unwanted processes again and it's all good for another couple of hours.

So far I have found this the best ROM for the old box and will wait until the KitKat version is perfected before moving.

I dont't know which tasks you kill, but you are also able to disable (stock) app's:

adb shell

and then disable e.g. 'Google Quick Search Box'

pm disable com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox

I have slow ethernet too. So I wanna try version 1.2.5.
