I'm one of those unlucky guys with HDMI output problems with the new rom (white lines, tv going out of sync, etc.).

I'd like to try the new test rom from minix (it supposed to have the overlay off and passthrough fix applied, I know your rom has the overlay stuff inside but there is one report that my problem was fixed in the test rom so may be there are more changes than just that - want to give it a try...).

If it'll work I'd like to apply a little o/c to the stock kernel. I recall you had some difficulties in the process of creating 1.7, can the patch-o-matic from phjanderson still be used for that purpose?

    Thanks!
I'm having the same issue but didn't try the test firmware yet... I'll be waiting for your update after using the test firmware! Please update us here if it fixes the wierd bug

I think I also had set the sampling rate to 50000 for testing purposes sometime back. But yesterday (before the freezes) I had booted to CWM Recovery for backing up the system. After the reboot, I don't remember changing the rate back to 50000 (it doesn't persist).
There is something else to reduce crashes. Go to "cpu master free" app again and choose I/O scheduler :deadline. This scheduler is more stable than cfq. Find in google what is that schedulers. Try this and tell me.
        I use finless 1.7 1080p cpu 1800 gpu 800 ddr 720.

The major problem here is that this issue is not common for everyone... Only few have reported this kind of issue and nothing to reproduce! May be that's why Bob is unable to nail it down.. I just hope we have a better update soon

They are included in the Finless ROM package. The correct parameter file needs to be selected before flashing the ROM in 'RKAndroidTool'. They can not be applied later without reflashing the whole system.

I read in the MINIX Forums that this issue might be governor-related.

After the second freeze/shutdown yesterday I went back to the kernel which I've built from sources and which includes the backported ondemand governor from Linux 3.12. Today I have tried my damnest to make the system freeze while browsing the same sites I visited yesterday. No luck so far...

my problem with me is not the direct connection with tv, but when i connect x7 with amplifier via hdmi. i have 3 android sticks and x5 and x7. Only x7 with the latest fw gives this problem. weird...

At a loss here & REALLY need help PLEASE!

Hey everyone, I am completely baffled by what is happening here. I will give some background, and hope that lewy or a member here can resolve my problem.

First off, I should let you know that I am very tech saavy, build my own PC's, Android user from day1, use and understand root, etc. In addition, been on XBMC for over 8yrs now (Windows, Openelec, Linux & Android)

Anyhow here's what is going on:

I have a MINIX X7 (my second minix), have tested several ROMS and XBMC .apk combos, and came up with a combination that was flawless for my new personal use, which is>> 99% 1channel streaming movies and tv shows set up in the newer feature of '1channel-library' that contains the strm links instead of my old library linking to external hard drive files inside my tv & movie libraries.

The combination I have built was working with almost zero buffering, no stutters, fluid navigation, etc... perfect everything for what I want. That combo is Finless 1.7 running the 720noair boot with the oc kernel= 720 cpu 1704, gpu 798, ddr667 and also tried ddr 720. This ROM was combined with lewy's justxbmc .apks (have tested v1,2,3 & 4) and a custom advancedsettings.xml

I had made huge progress and configured a custom advancedsettings.xml, spent the last few weeks now searching and entering each item for movies and tv from 1channel search into my library. Over 1200 movies and 465 tv series (MUCH more tedious than scanning in and tweaking from an external drive filled with files).

Everything was running really beautifully, now here is the weird thing that is not only frustrating after all this time and effort invested, but even with what I know about these things... I am at a loss to understand this issue.

Every time I reboot or sleep and wake the X7, EVERYTHING I setup in XBMC is GONE. It looks like a new install, it begins to update things as if I just put it on the system. In the system folders, ALL XBMC custom settings, config-files and data folders, etc are gone. It also erases anything on my external SD card and then android says the sd external card is damaged and needs formatting, but yet, not a problem on the external USB thumb drive.

I tested this with several other XBMC build to determine which side was the problem here, firmware or apk. No matter what build, lewys ouya, or any gotham alpha builds, libstagefright, whatever.... they ALL lose everything after a box reboot.

I am desperate to fix this, I have 3 weeks of looong days into data entry and research and was so thrilled with the outcome. the look, and the performance. After I determined the ROM is somehow causing this, I tested video streaming with the other apks I had and even with my custom advancedsettings, none of them perform well, buffering forever, jerky playback even in lo-res, etc.

I do not want to go back to my PC build, windows or openelec. I love the idea of using a few watts of power on a small, silent, good-looking device to do the same things and more that I was doing on a power-monger PC build and an external enclosure with 4 hard-drives.

Somebody, please help me, I am at a complete loss to figure this out and the ONLY way the X7 box works for my use is with Finless 1.7 & lewy's justxbmc ouya builds. I don't want to send the MINIX X7 back, this IS the build combo I need to work.

Thanks much, in advance for any help or ideas here.

                      TV App doesn't work!

                      Hi,
First thanks a lot for this great rom! Really like the oc kernels!
But unfortunatly my favorite (swiss) TV app does not work! The app works well on samsung s4 active, tab 2 10.1, mk908ii with finless rom and pipo u8 rileyrom!
Other (also swiss) tv app works without problem but I always have to watch one commercial between switching channels... so I would really like it to work on my minix because that's the device I would mainly use this app!
Don't know if you can do something about it, maybe my donation helps!

here's the play store link for this app:

Oh, and I would be cool to have a 2gb parameter!

                      greetings

                        Hello there,
I'm using finless 1.7 and I'm very happy with this rom. All works great!
I only have one problem and I can't figure out why. I'm using sixaxis app to pair the BT of my ps3 controller to the minix x7 (original controller). The compatibility test works, but the ps3 controller wont pair. I did everything the guide says. But still when I press the ps button the on controller it wont be recognize by the sixaxis app.
The controller works if is connected by usb.

                        Anyone had this problem before?

PS: I tried with 2 different controllers.

Check that you have an internal sd card, and that it is mounted.
Same happened to me after flashing finless rom together with cwm recovery.
                          No internal sd
                          XBMC cant save the data.
                          Hope it helps.

Thanks, I'll look at this later on today and report back.

I should mention that I tried justxbmc ROM but the x7 would never boot up, so then I used Finless. The box runs like a small PC with his o/c so hope I can keep it.

Can you tell us what you did to resolve this, or did you switch to a different rom or setup?

I reflashed the Finless Rom with the standard recovery image.
Then checked if i had internal sd.
Then flashed the CWM recovery image separate afterwards.
                              Worked !
So my mistake was flashing the CWM recovery image same time with Finless Rom and Boot.
XBMC was doing exactly as you described.
                              Good Luck !

Yap, been there, did that The standard recovery is used somehow at the final stages of new rom installation and it's essential. After that CWM can be flashed back.
