But in the spirit of getting the best out of our devices, I give you my rooted ROM.
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK ESPECIALLY THE OVERCLOCKED KERNELS!
FYI, Sorry to ask and not trying to beg, but I could use a few more donations. You X7 guys have been great in this area! If you feel this ROM is worth it, please consider a donation
THANKS!

Features and release notes for my 1.7 ROM:
1) Rooted and new SU and Superuser applied that supports Android 4.2.2
2) This time I did not change the parameter file.
With 16GB and 4GB allocated for APPs, this seems like a good balance.
However, I added a 8GB, 10GB and 14GB parameter file by request.
3) As always, full init.d support! If you do not know what that is... ignore it. For geeks that want to use it. It is there!
4) All Google required APPs updated to the latest version as of this ROM build.
This includes the play store and other required Google CORE and APPs.
Minix stock ROM had a very old Play Store and GMS Core.
Updating caused bugs with constant asking for a credit card!
This is now fixed.
5) ADB was not allowing ADB push commands and giving permission denied.
This is now fixed
6) Gameloft fix. I did not have to apply this! Minix is learning and used my patch!
7) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Your device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a X7!
Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Minix Nexo X7.
8) I give you a choice of boot.img's.
One enables Airpin and one does not.
I personally do not use Airpin so if you do not either then boot1080no_air.img will remove it.
Why have the annoying airpin service if you do not use it!
boot1080no_air.img is the default in my flash tool.
9) Of course as always I debloated the ROM of Apps!
Starting with a clean ROM is important depending on what you want to use your X7 for.
Why have APPs burning resources if you never use them?
This time I also removed all the RK Launcher and tools (LauncherNew.apk, RKSettings, etc).
Also Minix had some hidden APPs that were of no use. Not sure why this crap was in the ROM?
10) 720P kernel if your TV does not support 1080P
I have supplied a patched 720P kernel made from the stock 007 kernel.
It is in the folder FinlessROM/720p_kernel_boot
See below for how to use this in the flash tool.
11) A full set over overclocked kernels!
In the folder FinlessROM/oc_1080_kernels are a good set of OC kernels.
The file names explain what they do.
If you do not understand what the names mean, maybe you should not overclock!
USE at you own risk.
Special thanks to FreakTab developer phjanderson for making the patch-o-matic tool to easily make these kernels!
FYI, I modified Mr. Anderson's patch-o-matic scripts to add more CPU scaling from min to max.
You get 7 scaling levels where his tool today only gives 3.
12) I added a reboot APP that will allow optional reboot options like reboot to bootloader (flash mode).
Use this to easily get into flash mode to change boot.img's or later kernels!

For more information and how to install drivers, flash this ROM, etc, ALWAYS read the README.TXT in the ROM kit!

Here is a set of 720P OC kernels

Enjoy folks!
Bob
Thank you for the great Rom.
Can you please tell us which kernel are you using on your own x7?
Thanks in advance

First time finless rom
Hello
Thank you Bob for your work on the rom, but I'm having some problems.
When I play a Video the sound goes of for a second and then continues this goes on randomly through the whole movie.
Also the wireless range or power suddenly dropped to almost nothing.
I didn't had that in the original rom 006.
So can I rollback?
Or if I use the stock rom will I be able to use finless in the future?
Thanks in advance

However, the reason I say it is funny is because if I go there again, it is still not seen and down arrow either on the remote or keyboard doesn't reveal it. Only that Fn_key combination.
ps, i bet most of you use Null Keyboard, i want to get rid of the select input button (and notification) that show up everytime the keyboard is needed for input. would disabling AOSP Keyboard do anything?

1080 Android Playback Working (via Plex)?
Hi all. I recently purchased the X7 and have the official Minix 007 ROM installed. I bought the device for Plex playback and it works great for 720 playback, with DTS/AC3 passthrough!
But Plex 1080 playback gives the blank screen issue - external players are fine, just Plex which uses the Android video playback. The third party Serenity app for Plex works as it uses its own player. But I would prefer to use the main Plex app (if I can).
I have read the issue is caused (correct me if I'm wrong) by Rockchip not correctly implementing libstagefright playback and hence default Android video playback is broken.
So now my question....
Q - Does this Finless 1.7 1080 ROM fix/bypass the Rockchip libstagefright Android playback issue? (and hence will resolve the 1080 Plex issue)
I am 95% happy with the Minix 007 ROM as I can just use Serenity for 1080 playback, but if this ROM fixes the issue it will give me 100% satisfaction! But I dont want wipe/flash the device if its not going to resolve my issue.
Many thanks guys, keep up the good work!

CX 919
I realize this ROM isn't meant for the CX-919 but I was curious how well it would work. This works pretty well on a CX-919. The 1080p works much better with this ROM than the older CX-919 kernels. It's really nice that you can read the screen text in 1080p mode. The wifi is significantly slower though. The 1080p work that's done on this kernel is incredible! Very nice Bob!Last edited by amclean123; 20 November 2013, 05:33.Tronsmart R28 PRO with wasser-2.0.7-beelink-r89-rk3288 ROM and MX Player

I finally received my X7 today! It was so long under way that it still had 005 installed, boy that firmware was horrible. So, first thing I did was install Finless 1.7 (air, stock, stock) and that was a awesome improvement.
So after installing an ssh server, newest busybox and other trivia (youtube/null keyboard) I decided to progress to the next level; connectivity > NFS!
As this firmware should have the necessary nfs kernels, it should be possible :d
255|root@android:/mnt/sdcard # dmesg |grep 'NFS'
<6>[ 0.682938] RPC: Registered tcp NFSv4.1 backchannel transport module.
<6>[ 0.760018] nfs4filelayout_init: NFSv4 File Layout Driver Registering...
Yes! All good there. Seeing as I was allready using NFS with my raspberry for months we can safely say that the server side (synology) is fine, IP is added to the go-list, so let's go:
255|root@android:/mnt/sdcard # mount -o rw,intr,soft,nolock,nfsvers=3 -t nfs 192.168.1.2:/volume1/Storage /mnt/sdcard/storage
mount: Invalid argument
255|root@android:/mnt/sdcard #
After trying many, many different combinations I feel that my mind is now at the point of no longer seeing my own mistakes. Tried to mount the nfs share with cifsmanager > invalid argument.
Could anyone point me in the right direction here guys?
Next on my to do list: Getting rid of the menu bar completely (I'm using the A2 airmouse so i have all those buttons on the remote anyway > GONE), companring all the different xbmc versions, getting xbmc to work with a remote database, tooling around the xbmx advanced settings of the latest alpha's to get the best out of the hardware decoding, fixing the play/pause buttons.
Fun fun fun

Summary, 1080 fixed...720 broken
Pros:
- 1080 much better use of screen resolution for user interface
- 1080 playback on default player (and Plex)
- Still DTS/AC3 Passthrough to amp
- Serenity Plex player still plays all content (1080, 720, lower)
- No AirPin crap (yay!)
Cons/Issues:
- Only 1080 works in default player
- 720 and lower do not play
- Sleep does not seem to work when monitor is turned on
NOTE: I have not yet changed Device Output Mode to 720 to re-test (will update)
So the libstagefright playback seems to only support the default kernel resolution???Last edited by Ducas; 21 November 2013, 00:01.

NFS works!

Found the answer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=718719
busybox mount -o rw,intr,hard,nolock -t nfs 192.168.1.2:/volume1/Storage /mnt/sdcard/storage
that did it for me, read&write hard no locked, without the nfsvers=3, simply because the machine has v4
Now installed a samba server so i can fool around with xbmc, 1080p (12gb) file works fine with stock player/mxplayer/minix player > JustXBMC doesn't work right yet so now i'm making my own based on the latest nightly from xbmc.
Thanks for the tip anywho!
