    Broadcom Crystal HD

    @koying

Is support for the Broadcom crystal HD decoder preserved in SPMC??

I am setting up a mini pc, basically for XBMC, and using an intel atom D525MW motherboard (I got for $10) and some extra parts which I had laying around, including a BCM700012 Crystal HD decoder.

I'm using Windows 7 (32 bit) and am deeply disappointed by the dropping of crystal hd support in KODI. As near as I can tell, the latest KODI release to support crystal HD was kodi-helix-14.0-alpha2 but I cannot find it anywhere for download. The oldest compiled binaries on the KODI site are betas. It seems the only current releases I can find which include support are OSMC (for apple tv).

Also, someone on the google+ android tv community (ADT-1/Nexus) asked me when you were going to release SPMC 14.1 or higher on the play store, so I said I'd ask.

    Thanks!

SPMC is targeted to Android. Everything else is stock Kodi.

Re store, I'm not quite sure of the proper course of action, actually. If i bump, all happy 13.x users will be automatically updated, which I'm sure will piss some re non-working addons and such...

Good choice, better wait 14 final and ... overall stability!

Yeah. Will probably create a beta channel which will contain 14.
When 15 is out, 14 becomes current and 15 beta and so on.

Leaves the knowing users able to bump and only force bump version -2, which seems reasonable.

Or I could also use the alpha for 15, will see...

You could call it "SPMC EXPERIMENTAL" or "DEV" version.
            Thanks for your work btw!

              Spmc 14.1.0 shows, quarter picture,
when connected at 1080p on AML S805 device (MXQ and mk808bPLus).

If it helps picture size is fine / correct with these builds.

If someone on play store release were to update via the apk on your site will it just upgrade, or does it install to a different directory like going from xbmc gotham to kodi helix and then you have to backup config and restore to version 14?

I don't know because ever since your 14 betas I've used it as clean install and dumped older version 13.x version and done clean install.

                Thanks,

Oh, another quick question. Is there any benefit to using SPMC over KODI on tegra 4 platform (ADT-1)? Like better ffmpeg or libstagefright via open gles, anything like that? I'm not even sure what hardware codecs tegra 4 offers, other than Wikipedia says it does WebM codec hardware decode at 80MB/s, 60FPS. I've never even heard of WebM until I read that.

                  Thanks,

Check back a couple pages. Others are having issue. There is a fix which involves changing a couple things in your build.prop. turning on hw overlay and setting fake sys ui.

This may already be a known issue, but in case it's not, I'm still getting way more options for zoom, deinterlace mode, zoom type, etc. In certain videos with libstagefright on RK3288 vs rklibstagefright. Using SPMC 14.1 release.

It's much better than the last round of betas(no zoom options at all on certain videos), but it would be nice if all the options were available on rklibstagefright. A few minutes ago I tried setting a custom zoom on rklibstagefright and the video (was a filmon stream) went all crazy.

I have no idea if this is fixable or not, just thought i should report it.

Thanks again for all your hard work and the best XBMC variant around, koying!

Have you already updated to the latest versions of libvpu, libOMX, ffmpeg, libbluray, rklibstagefright, libstagefright, libhevc, and anything else connected with the vpu and video decoding to the latest versions from the firefly source tree? Or are you using a newer ROM which has these included?

                                rklibstagefright bug

I found a bug with rklibstagefright on SPMC 14.1. Is this the correct place to report it? When I use rklibstagefright after 30 minutes of watching an H.264 MKV the Android OS crashes and reboots. I've replicated this on 4 Tronsmart R28 Pro's using the Wasser, stock, and Finless images. If I use libstagefright I have no problems. I would really like to use the rklibstagefright since the video looks so much better. I've tried underclocking and overclocking but that didn't help. I've tried lots of other SPMC settings and none have fixed it.

                                Here's how to reproduce it
                                1) Install a fresh version of Wasser 2.0.3 or 2.0.5
                                2) Install SPMC 14.1
                                3) Use MakeMKV to rip "27 Dresses" 4:3 DVD (my wife's favorite chick flick)
                                4) Play the movie and wait 30+ minutes for Wasser to crash and reboot
Tronsmart R28 PRO with wasser-2.0.7-beelink-r89-rk3288 ROM and MX Player
