    OOPS No Cable !

Sorry Guys, I left my cable in the office, so cannot reflash to 1.5 today...aarrgghh. Iam also off on Holiday next week so may not get time now unill the New Year. I can only suggest that those who need the OpenVPN do so on 1.4 with the tun.ko installer. I have not needed the dreaded reset button on this ROM so have only needed to run the installer once. Cheers for now, Colin.

        Thanks for this rom :-)
For me its the best rom regarding speed and smoothness, but I'm getting more wifi disconnects than with any other rom I've tried. Is there any way to use this rom without your wifi modifications?
Had the same problem with finless 1.4.
It would be great if theres a way to use this rom with stock wifi settings, as I'm getting zero freezes with this rom till now which is a HUGE improvement.

The following does not help with disconnects, but for me it totally cured the slow connection problem:

-Use a simple SSID with no more than 8 letters
        -Password also only 8 letters
-Wifi channel must be between 3 and 8

With this settings the speed went up from 2mbit/s to 12mbit/s.

            1.5 reloaded

            Hey Bob ,

Are you going to rehash 1.5?
I was going to load it up but I am unsure if you are repackaging 1.5?
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

Does anybody else have the wifi disconnects every 3-5 minutes with this rom?
I was already thinking that something inside the tablet broke because they occured so often. I flashed the new Kasty Rom 3 hours ago and did not have a single disconnect since then :-) With finless 1.5 i would've gotten at least 25 disconnects in this time. Really weird.
On the other hand I'm already missing the smoothness of finless.

edit: the 3 hours without disconnect were pure luck, I've been gettin almost as many reboots with kastys rom after some hours of use.
Trying madsega's fix right now :-)

Not until someone does the test that I asked for tun.ko.

OK well maybe I will be happy with my ROM myself and let it ride and enjoy my M9 myself. I have plenty of other ROMs to do with plenty of people asking. Back to TV sticks then.....

                  tun.ko module

                  Download this zip

                  Unzip these 2 modules (tun.ko and md4.ko).
                  Put them on sdcard

                  Install ES File Explorer
Turn on root in ES File Explorer
Make sure to also mount /system as RW as by default it is RO and you wont be able to copy the files.

Copy these 2 files to /system/lib/modules replacing the ones that are in there.
Make sure ES File Explorer confirms the copy and does not give an error.

                  Reboot

                  Now install Android Terminal Emulator.
Run it and at the command line type lsmod
It should list all modules installed into the kernel and tun and md4 should be in the list.

                  Now try your VPN.

                  Thanks,
                  Bob
Morning Bob ! managed to get some time this morning to check this and unfortunately it I still not working, but all is no lost! I took one more step than your suggestion and only added tun.ko the first time I tried - with the same catastrophic result. Adding the md4.ko module stopped this, so with both the new tun.ko and md4.ko module the tablet does not crash BUT I now get the familiar 'cannot find tun.ko module'. Interestingly when checking with terminal emulator - 1st time it showed tun.ko loaded, second time showed, but after loading the md4.ko module the tun.ko module was not showing. After loading with the loader app it is showing, but a different set of figures - 13050 2 instead of aarrgghh - my screen shot is gone from the first check - sorry! So, the upshot is that the new tun.ko file does not appear to be loading properly with your copy paste to library folder trick. Yes, I did the reboot between copy and check. I will persevere with this now Bob as I will not have time to reload all my apps again before flying to the UK on Thursday. Just to report I have zero problems with WiFi or GPS: your ROM 'feels' way more responsive than stock or Randy's - I don't hold much faith in the likes of Antutu as it appears to give a different result every time I run a test, but all seems great to me so far. I will keep checking in from the UK when I get time. Do please keep up the good work - it is a nightmare dealing with us general public - especially those who seem to not appreciate the effort that goes into the work you do. Cheers for now, Colin. -
ps - does anyone else have a problem typing in this box? itseems tohave goneverry laggy over the past week?? (hence the lack of spaces in that sentence!)

OK so Randy's ROMs inject tun.ko and md4.ko. It's easy to see in init.rc
I bet you folks did not know that?

So I did the same thing in my ROM but obviously I used other files KO files that may not work. The files I gave for my test request were directly from Randy's ROM. So it should work. If not then the stock ROM made from this and Randy's ROM made from this same stock ROM should have the same problems.

So something else is going on here!

Certainly did not know that one Bob ! So if you recook the ROM using the tun.ko(2) file I sent maybe it would work? Maybe it is the way the module is loaded that is stopping it working? Randy's was for a PIPO tablet and yours COULD be for a SAmsung? in fact, I will check my Note as that works out the box as it were. Will come back in a few mins.
                      Edit:
So something very fishy is going on here Bob - there are NO tun.ko modules on my Samsung Note yet the same openvpn configuration file works on both devices? I checked terminal emulator and no tun.ko or mk4.ko running and es cannot find any either? I am tpted to go back to RROM2.0testor 2.1 to see what happens there now, but maybe no need ? please advise have some time right now I can do more tests.

Modules can be built in the kernel and if they are will not show up with a lsmod command.
Only modules not in the kernel that are injected by the insmod command in init.rc will show up with a lsmod command.

                        Nothing fishy....

You see guys, he DOES know what he is talking about! Thanks Bob for the explanation. I am guessing that it is safer to inject the module rather than building it in? I for one am quite happy to carry on using the installer for now, although I do need to open up a pptp vpn to Hong Kong in order to do so - as I have mentioned before, I have yet to experience a freeze with your ROM which means I only need to load once. I don't think it is worth releasing a fix just for this - IMHO KitKat would be preferable!! Rgds, Colin

                                Respect?

See ? - first post and all he/she does is ask how to change something - no thanks, no explanation no information - General Public !!

So, in answer to your question datmbm: compare the two files build.orig and build.prop in the system folder - note the lines for wifi and edit the ones in build.prop to match those in build.orig - reboot and you will have the original wifi settings that Pipo created. Why not simply use the stock ROM ?
