NEW - iMito MX1/2 - Finless ROM 1.7

Hello All,

I'm new in the scene concerning android tv sticks.

Yesterday i receveived my IMITO MX2 stick from geekbuying.
I'm a little disapointed over the WIFI quality off this stick

So I will try to put the Finless firmware on it, but i am not shure wich version i should use 1.7a or 1.7b ?
I'm also using the xbmcandriod.com wth external player apk.

The two last postings in this thread is for me the reason of confusing about wich version i should install.
Any advice is welcome.

Your going to have to try both. I made both for two reasons.
1) For people that must have real 1080P
2) For wifi. Some people have no issues and some do! So 1.7B has the latest Imito Wifi fixes. What it fixes I have no idea as I cannot tell any difference.

OK so that explains it! Imito's latest kernels do not set the MAC! The older kernel used in the 1.5 ROM did not have this problem. So it is not my ROM but Imito's latests kernels.

You probably identified the responsibilities, but I would like to remember that there are several (possibly most?) sticks out there ,which choose their mac address in some other way. For those (like me) both the new 1.7a and 1.7b work flawlessly. This is just to say that the new kernel is actually useful to someone (most?).

Not to defend imito, just to avoid you choose to abandon those new kernels, which actually provide better performance in several areas (bechmarks, smoother video playing,...)

After testing 1.7(all versions) mk802iiis BT 8gig needs its own custom finless Bob firmware it still has WiFi drop issues I could be watching movie on nas server stream to mini PC and it will drop rendomly its better with b but not fixed yet

I do not plan to drop the kernels so no worries there. I do not have these MAC problems on my MX1 and cannot even reproduce it!

I posted above many posts ago, Rockchip has a tool for flashing the MAC for wifi and BT. So I think there is something more to it. Alas only one person tried the tool and said it did not work. I wont try it since I do not have the problem.

Is it possible to use the SD-upgrade method with this firmware? Cant flash my MX1 with the USB method

Cant find any instruction in the read-me regarding sd update.

its a shame there isn't an SD image...

An SD update can be made but understand
1) The SD update method will not flash a new kernel
2) It will not change the parition space!

The other way is to maybe ask Leolas to make a update that uses CWM.

I will be honest with you! I am no expert here. I use the MediaCenter APP and my Windows shares. It works for me.... But I do know this is not the best and there are better ways!

Understand please. There are a million ways to do something. Just because I make ROMs that improves things, does not mean I know the million ways to do something.

I wish I did! But I am in no way an expert on using every APP out there, or ways to connect to a file share / server for optimal streaming. The TV guys that know this should answer the question here.

Sorry, I wish I could help but realize you cant know everything about everything! Just because I can make a better ROM does not mean I am an expert at everything and how best to use this device.... BUT I am learning too! Maybe one day I will be more knowledgeable about everything

I get full signal on my 55" but its about a foot away from the router, however my other mx2 on my 42" is not so lucky but i am going through the floor and and at the side our my house. my router is in the middle of the house.

right now i have not found the perfect setup with xbmc which I am disappointed about which i know is not finless fault.
