Once in recovery how do I tell which ROM I need?

You won't be able to tell from recovery mode.

If I remember correctly, we determined that your tablet is bootlooping with an endless boot animation correct? Not stuck on a splash screen, not a lit up black screen or dark black screen, correct?

Remind me how it ended up in it's current condition. Was something flashed that led to this situation?

I tried using the tablet to do the erase and then used astro to unzip the cwm file to the card. still no joy. Doesn't matter how I combine the volume and power buttons, I only get the internal recovery program.

Not sure what else to try

Assuming you've installed CWM correctly on the external SD card, the only other reason I can think of that would prevent it from booting would be if you have some strange tablet version.

What are the values of the following entries in your build.prop file?

                        ro.product.model
                        ro.product.board
                        ro.build.date

Can't really do the file wrong. There isn't an 'install' just extract to the root. Since I have no folders on the card, it must be the root.

You'd be surprised some of the things people try to do...

It sounds like it's installed correctly, and I think it should work fine on that model version and build date.

Have you tried redownloading the recovery in case the file was corrupted during download?

I think you said you already tried reformatting your external SD card, correct?

                              oops!

Sorry about that, guys! Apparently, astro didn't extract the file just the file name. I just plugged it into my laptop and it had 0 bytes. redownloaded it just to be sure and extracted it to the card while on the laptop.

Did volume+ and power. Yeah!! success.
