Making backup now. Looks like there are a number of options. I am backing up to the same card that I use for cwm. that way it's all in one place.

Am using GL2SD to save space on internal card. So some of my programs won't work until I remount THAT sdcard, but that's to be expected. It's really only the data files, so the program works, just doesn't remember what I have done so far.

      Now What?

So now that I can get into a good recovery program. What's next? Install a ROM? Which one?

There aren't any custom ones yet.

You might Consider updating to the stock one from July though. No big improvements but i think it has some fixes for game loft games in it.

He got CWM working... his stock ROM is working ok. He's just looking for a custom ROM now.

These are built from CM10 source, with Amlogic and UBIFS support forked from the Github repos of Christian Troy and Librehat. Thanks to both of them for sharing their source code! I plan to publish my Nextbook changes, once I learn more about the use of Github.

I will be adding custom versions to this thread for additional tablet models as I get them compiled and packaged with the proper kernels, etc.

Please make sure you download the correct version for your device!

While some versions may work on other tablets, differences such as partition layouts that are hard coded into the kernel could cause a flash to fail and brick your tablet. Because of this, I can not support the use of a custom recovery on a device that it was not intended for.

These files will be named in the format: "model"-"board"-CWM.zip

Verify these entries in your stock build.prop before downloading: ro.product.model and ro.product.board

              Installation:

              1. Download the appropriate version for your device below
              2. Unzip the downloaded file
              3. Remove the uImage_recovery file and place it in the root level of your external SD Card
              4. Insert External SD Card in your device
              5. Power on device while holding volume-
              6. PERFORM A BACKUP!!! This will backup everything except your bootloader.

Hey there, I just wanted to thank you for your work. I've had the NX008HD8G for almost two weeks now, and have been scared plum retarded into sleep mode regarding this root since the first 5min after I turned the tablet on.. All I'm seeing everywhere is "DONT ATTEMPT ROOT IF AFTER AUGUST 2013!!", and well.. I have a later model than I've seen ANYONE ANYWHERE talk about.. December 13 (YFG1213). Once I went to your forum threads, I saw where you had posted a CWM recently and figured it was worth a check. Low and behold, NXM8000ND_WM is what I have and is fully compatible. Thus far I've only used the CWM to root, and am looking forward to seeing a custom ROM/Kernel from you if you ever plan to scratch the surface of this build.. As I said, I have the newest release I've seen discussed thus far and am more than willing to backup, revert to factory, dump, and upload if you are at all interested.. Again, thank you so much buddy.

I've been looking for someone with a NXM8000ND_WM with the 12/13 build date. I'd love a copy of your CWM backup. I may need the bootloader also... will check.

I'm looking forward to learning if I can update my own tablet from the july build to the december build.

I don't need the data partition or cache partitions at all.

The system and boot are the most important. I'm downloading the system.ubifs.tar.a to see if it contains the system folder.

Did CWM backup the stock recovery? I thought it did, but I could be mistaken...

I'll probably need the bootloader later too, but I may already have a copy... I received this ROM previously, but the stock system had been heavily modified, with several files deleted, including the stock launcher...

I'm not really positive. I just used cwm's backup option right after restoring factory default. I'm a computer tech, but not an expert with phones, just savvy from personal experience. If there's anything else you need just let me know. Looking forward to a decent rom and kernel with the 1512 or up overclock..

I downloaded the files and at a glance, the system.ubifs.tar.a appears to contain a complete copy of the system partition, however I think this is an even newer version than what I expected. When I get home, I'll compare it to some of my other files, but I think I'm going to need a copy of the stock recovery and the stock bootloader. If so, I'll send you a package you can flash that will automatically backup the necessary parts.
