More 610 info. It takes a lot longer to boot. You have to hold the power button for at least 5 seconds. My wife's 620 is closer to two. Booting into recovery also gives you different menus, but i think that has as much to do with the differences between JB and KK.

I think what I'd like to see for the 610 is enabling the fast charging, custom boot animation (can that be done in xPosed?), and maybe a few tweaks here and there. I've read that the 610 is not getting KitKat, and for what I use it for, I'm ok with that. If custom ROM's start cropping up for it that lead to KitKat and possibly Lollipop then I may jump on board with that.

The boot animation is in the system folder and can be changed on any rooted device. There are LOTS of Play Store apps that let you choose a boot animation and swap it for you... some of them even let you choose multiple ones and rotate them so it's different each boot...
Any logo splash screens before the animation are another story... The kernel can have a logo, the boot image can have another logo, and some devices have additional logos in special partitions... none of these can be changed by the average user... changing them requires learning pretty much everything about ROM development for the particular hardware type...

Sounds like there are at least 4 versions of the RCA Pro 10 then... I am sure there was a cordless bluetooth keyboard version and corded usb version with a RK3188T...
You're probably correct about more internal differences between the 610 and 620... especially considering they have different charging ports...
What is it with all these chinese manufacturers making tablets with usb only charging and not enabling usb fast charging in the kernels!?!?

The build.prop file might offer some clues, or an app like cpu-z or cpu identifier should be able to identify the processor.

If you can access factory firmware for it, send me a link and I can do a Rockchip ROM for you...but let's carry on further discussion in the Wish List thread for RK ROM's.
If there's no firmware available (which is typical for RCA products...they don't post firmware on their site for some reason)...you can attempt to provide a ROM dump from your tablet for me.
This is for RK only...but here is a ROM dump method...it works better if the tablet is rooted.
Open a terminal
Type su and enter to get the # prompt.
Then just dump using the DD command in busybox and dump to SDcard.
dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img
dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock8 of=/sdcard/system.img
dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock2 of=/sdcard/boot.img
dd if=/dev/block/mtdblock3 of=/sdcard/recovery.img
Check your MTD blocks for the same number but most have been the same.
Also, each of my RK ROM's includes a ROM dumping tool...which may be a better choice...the instructions are provided. This will allow you to also dump the parameter file, which is another important part I need to make the ROM with.
However you do it...I need:
parameter
kernel.img
boot.img
recovery.img
system.img
If there is a resource.img...I need it too...but that's only for RK3288 devices.Randy

I personally don't do them...but maybe another developer would be willing.
So, yes....you can post your request. It may or may not get fulfilled, though.Randy

Can one request ROM for mtk phones too?
Originally posted by rrileypm View PostIf you have a request for one of our developers to create a custom ROM for your device, just make a post in this thread.
The ground rules are simple.
We need to know the Brand and Model of your device, and we require a link to the official factory firmware for your device. Some spec information would be nice like NAND Flash capacity, what MTK chip is in the device and the actual screen resolution.
So, here is the format you should post:
1. Brand Name
2. Model Name/Number
3. Which MTK chip is installed
4. Link to stock firmware or a ROM dump from your device
5. Total NAND flash capacity
6. Screen resolution
Please post your request in that format, and wait to ask until you have a link to the firmware because we can't possibly have access to every factory firmware on the planet without your help.
We may need to add some more rules as we go, but this is a start.

In order to benefit from the rooting...you need to use the system.img and boot.img. I really can't see why it wouldn't work if the only difference is in the amount of NAND.
I'm kinda tied up today, but I will download the firmware you linked and put together a new ROM from it.
Remind me in a few days if I haven't posted something.Randy
