I know you can do this over SATA and ESATA but I did not think that is possible over USB?

they handle it via busybox softlink...
BUT I know, that the problem is, that many (most) HDD need hdparm but some (less) need sdparm, so you can also choose which one you want to use (in addition to e.g. the time value)...

No idea why, but it won't mount the SDCard in recovery for me.

I did manage to get it working via installing from an USB Stick.

The stock rom and Finless's rom have an "update&backup" app included in the rom. When you open that app, there is a "backup your data" section, use that to back up your data. When you chose "backup", it will back up all your data and save the file to your mirco SD card.

Download the rom that you wish to use, it must be in a zip format, right from your android box. Bob was the first one to convert the rom into a zip format, but now the factory gives a zipped rom also. After the rom has downloaded, use your file manager to unzip the file. When it is unzipped, in Bob's rom, you will find 3 files, 2 zipped and one readme file (also his rom has cpu fixer zip files.). Your file manager will have an option to extract the files from the rom that you downloaded, just extract the files to the root of your micro sd card. After the zipped files have been extracted to the micro sd card, just open the "udate&backup" app. select the file that you want to "update", (the files that you extracted to the micro sd card) will show up for you to select. Select the rom you want to update, then click the update button. You may want to check the "wipe data" and "wipe media" so you have a clean install.

After your box reboots and installs the new rom, it will find the file that had your backed up data and will ask you if you want to restore your data.

As I recall, all my apps and settings and logins were restored, but I did have to tweak the home screen settings.

One thing to make sure of, is that your micro SD card is formatted in fat32.

hey there I got this box s89-h on its way and plan on doing a in depth video review of this box on my youtube channel and have a hd audio avr full hd tv and a nighthawk ac1900 gigabit router and huge 14 tb of Blu-ray iso storage. Is this the proper rom for the s89-h? I want the latest fixes and custom rom for testing and im very interested in the cpu fix in rom but im a little confused on what it actually does. I mean I understand it lowers or raises min cpu and max cpu but what is the best performance / stability setting to use on cpu fix? also how do I test dts/dd hw decoding? ty for your time and please if u can answer my 3 questions ty link to youtube channel Link removed as spam

No offense but why have a youtube channel and do a review until you know what your talking about?
Lot's to learn and only study and reading here will give you the expertise to know and do a review properly. All that you are asking and require is posted here! Spend some time doing your research rather than asking for an instant answer so you can do a youtube review.
Anything else is just another youtube bunch of garbage. Sorry to be harsh but reality my friend.

There are already a ton of youtube reviews that add NO VALUE to anyone other than "hits" so someone can get youtube points. Honestly, anyone that knows anything about these boxes don't care about another n00b youtube review.

But i've a little prob, notre with the ROM but with xbmc, i can't configure my xbmc with my nas because my tronsmart can't access to my nas with xbmc.
Can you advice me ? I've the latest xbmc modified and i've tried with the latest official

hey im not just a noob that don't know s*** but at same time im not a programmer in anyway or a android rom pro lol, I have done all kinds of things with tech and have read a lot on this forum about this unit but I wanted to know for sure this rom was for the -h ver as in post listing it says s89 now about ur cpu fix do you have a recommended setting,or trial n error? also all I know from reading about hw dts/dd decoding is if u don't have it software players like mx will produce no sound from those dd/dts sources so I wanted to know how to test that specificly besides trying the playes. Am I way off?? also im doing a review because I have found no videos that show off the things that interest me like full blu ray iso playback with menu,testing 5ghz wifi high bitrate mkvs with hd audio a lot is not touched on in most reviews and im not proclaiming to be a master just think some people may want to see some of the things working on video ty for your response and your hard work on your roms and dev I will deff be donating to the couse

netflix probs

Is anyone still getting the blurry/stuttering/distorted image in netflix with this rom? I'm using 1.5 right now and everything is great except the netflix problems.

Ya netflix is crap on this .. its weird I use my apple tv for netflix and its Crystal clear even the wifi on the apple tv works better

I have Netflix playing RIGHT NOW. I watched "The Host" and am now watching "Aeon Flux".

It is perfect and way better than any RK device I have.

I do not understand why others are having issues to be honest.
