using Divx Pro 10.1 codec (with HEVC H265 plugin installed) it plays perfect on a windows 8.1 PC

no its not fake. It depends on the media player you chose. S802 is a new SOC. Developers have to tweak codecs to allow videos to utilize the devices full potential. Xbmc devs have to crank out fixes for mac pc ios android linux raspberry pie etc. But within each of those operating systems, there are other compatabiliy factors. With android you have opperating systems from gingerbread to kitkat. On top of that you have device specific coding and codecs that need tweaking. With the s802 many things are being done to solve these issues. Amlogic is the only system to use amcodec and amlplayer, but since its new developers are still working out the links to make videos run smoother in xbmc. On top of that when this box was released the long lasting frodo (12.x) was upgraded to gotham (13.x) and now they are already pushing helix into the master. Developers like oman lokie and finless bob are working their asses off to make the firmware and kernels for the box stable. Xbmc devs are doing the same but aren't working on one box compatability they are working on multiple SOC's and platforms. It will take some time but things will get better. Gotham does not support 4k from what I've somewhat researched. Helix is in ALPHA NOT EVEN IN BETA so yeah there will be poblems.@µ$ł!Ω

Originally posted by vprasinos View PostUnacceptable playback. Unwatchable also. 5-6 frames per second. Terrible. Tried with XBMC amcodec/libstage, mx player HW and SW, internal 4k player all the same result. Mx player with SW was worse than all.
Then the box outside and the advertisement should say: "4k possible future support" and underneath that with smaller letters "if freaktab and xbmc developers do it"
No offense man..! Just for a laugh!
2.S802 totally support 4k video playing.
3.S812 can support HEVC HW decoder.Easy way to catch LOG -> Search 'Syslog' in Google Play, then install it and catch log

shiiiiit... Atleast someones doing it. Microsoft has a huge team fixing their OS. Each hardware manufacturer has a bunch of devs working on their ongoing compatability with windows OS. I'm thankful we atleast have Bob Oman LOKIE and all the xbmc devs helping us out. If you want a device that gets updates daily and has hundreds working on fixed and support then buy a intel NUC for 700 dollars and spend another hundred on ram and OS. I'm happy with my bi-weekly updates (untill stable) and mostly fully functional xbmc and computer. my first computer was an Apple II c all you could do on that was a oregon trail word/number munchers a crap paint program dig dug and donkey kong. my next upgrade was a power mac 7100 (parents probably spent 3000 dollars) with a 14.4 kb modem. it took me 6 hours to download my first song. to spend 120 dollars and have the support on this device to stream hd movies makes me cream my pants. bob makes a peso to the hundreds of dollars the origional developers make. finances are tough for me now but i swear as soon as i get out of the - he will be getting my first proffit for his time and effort not only on compiling these roms for us but dealing with the constant and repetative whinning/ignorance you hear on here. nobody knows everything (especially myself) but he responds proffesionally and understandingly. give a dawg some bones!@µ$ł!Ω

Questions about Rom and XBMC
Hi Mr. Oman :-)..
2 questions, 1st, My old Plasma TV can only do 720P, should I update to your latest rom? 2nd, have your Amlogic S82 enhancements been incorporated in the new Helix alpha's?
Best Regards, and keep up the good work, I love my Beelink M8 Box, fast, stable and all in all a good buy.
