TWRP for Amlogic devices.

    Not success with TWRP on X8H

    Hi Abdul, I was install TWRP on X8H and then make a backup on internal card, after that, I was copy backup file to another X8H (have been install TWRP, copy into folder backup of TWRP), then I use TWRP to restore, it was completed but when it restart, I only see black screen I don't know what's step I was wrong or that tool can't using with X8H? Please let me know about that, thank you!

      What did you backup and what did you restore?

      I didn't get right what you did and how you did.
      You made a backup, copy the backup folder to another device, restore it and got a black screen ?

      A recovery.log would help, either copy it from within TWRP, advance tab, copy log or do ADB pull tmp/recovery.log while on recovery and after the restore.

        Hi Abdul, I was install TWRP on 2 X8H, then I use TWRP to backup all in the first X8H. After that, I copy all backup folder on the first X8H and paste in backup folder of the second X8H. Finally, I use TWRP to restore on the second X8H, all apps have been installed but they don't working Only default apps on X8H working. Do you clearly about what I was doing?

        And please let me know what I was wrong? What should I do now?

          And the restore works on the first box ?
          Just restore data or anything else ?
          Did you copy the android folder also?
          I never tried what you are attempting, neither I have two equal box's.
          Again log's might help.

            Hi Abdul,
            Just wanted to let you know that I'm very happy with making backup and restore
            Since you suggested to backup "Android" folder manually, all my restores was working 100%. I even restored to new boxes by just flashing Twrp via recovery and restored backup,then just copy android folder back and all is working perfectly.

                Changed tittle to a more generic name, now support for aml mx8726 devices.

                This is tested and working. Thanks Daemonium

                TWRP Matricom Gbox2 and clones.


                If anyone has interest in seeing this working on other devices, just ask.

                        MX2 bricked after installing TWRP?

                        Just to warn anyone trying to install this:- TWRP Matricom Gbox2

                        I did this today on my 100% working MX2 clone (g18ref board) and it looks like its is bricked. I was running Matricom v1.1.6 on the box before flashing TWRP.

                        Benibenassi method will not work - No Signal message on TV screen.

                        Have reported this to                         daemoni who has been trying to help me (I do not have a UART lead) so be warned!

                          Sorry for your trouble.

                          The safest way is always test from a external SD. Hope that in the end all goes ok.

                            I have a report from a spanish user that came with same problem. He solved with benibenassi's method + short on pins 7-8 on nand. I also suggested to short spi pins because is easier (but this is untested)
                            You can look at the pictures at the androidpc.es spanish forum , last picture is spi short pins.

                              Hey guys, here is another version meant to be run from sdcard, which is safe to use since it's not flashed.

                              Changelog:
                              -Usb now works for backup to flash drives.
                              -Changed kernel to try better compatibility
                              -Set up eth0 at 192.168.1.97
                              -Adb listening on eth0 port 5555

                              EDIT: Noticed some weird things, will post later.
                              EDIT2: New link . If someone has trouble with this please report back and tell me which rom were you using.
