Cool! I normally use Quickboot, but this can work as well.

The only problem is, its hard(or impossible) to install/sideload any apps on the stock ROM, unless you first go into developer mode (which is way slower than just opening the damn thing :P)

I am about to release v1.4, with a LOT of new stuff, I removed a few services, and apks that were not needed, I also added Biggifi remote control support, this has got to be one of the best android remote controls I've used, its not working 100% because some binaries are not compatible (screenshot and sensor), but what I have working is more than enough to use a smartphone or tablet as a control (touch and mouse emulation)

still testing it, but I will probably release it tomorrow

            A few quick questions.
            Are 4:3 aspect resolutions available?
are usb sound card drivers compiled into the kernal?
Is there an app that will force the screen into portrait?

I'm asking because i'm looking to use this as a MAME setup on a 4:3 LCD panel in the vertical orientation.
I've managed to set the gamestick at 480p & gotten it to show up on the LCD using an HDMI to DVI adaptor.
Of course the aspect for the OS is slightly off but Mame4droid .139 for the most part lets me scale the games up to either fullscreen or almost fullscreen with proper aspect.

And it runs surprisingly well even with the CRT filter.
In fact it looks really good.

So I guess I mostly just need sound somehow.

Unfortunately anything that has to do with the kernel is the same as the original, I haven't been able to compile a new one successfully. I don't think 4:3 is available and if you hooked your USB card and it didn't worked then it doesn't have the module. But I am able to compile modules, so if we could find which one your sound card uses I can compile it for you

                I don't have a usb soundcard yet.
                Any suggestions?
there are a lot of $3 ones on **** however i have no clue about them.

Maybe i'll just go with a HDMI to VGA convertor.
That will also give me sound.
Will probably have to crack it open & wire up a spare usb cable to power it since I doubt gamestick could do it.

That sounds like a nice idea. Let me know if it works I want to try building an emulator machine as well

                      I'll keep you posted.
I need some more parts & i'll be here to test any ROMS you make up.
XBOX controller support makes things easier.
I even got my PS2 trackball to work via a ps2 to usb adaptor however I have dig around to see if mame4droid can use the mouse function in mame since it's setup to use the touch screen as a trackball.

I will give a it a try Thanks.
I'm building a vertical only cab so rotating the screen vs every game in mame manually would be nice.

Edit: screen rotation doesn't seem to work or i've had too many beers tonight , and trying to do portrait on this with mame is well...anoying.

I think i'll pick up a fairly cheap K-R42 with AV out and see how that works with retro arch since the custom roms for that have so many more features.

Nothing at all against Niabi who has given me a use for this gamestick.
I plan to use it in my bedroom for XBMC and streaming.

EDIT: any idea why netflix is not in HD?

Netflix only works in HD from android 4.3 onward

we are in 4.1.2 and unless we can compile our own kernel I don't see any 4.1.2+ coming anytime soon

No one in here has brought up the HORRID wifi. Does your rom help with this at all or still the same?

I haven't made proper testing, since my wifi router is about 5 meters away from my gamestick, but another guy said his wifi was way better with this ROM, it does include a few tweaks I borrowed from Finless, so in theory it should be better.
