UPDATE 10_27! - ug802 Android mini PC TV Player - Finless ROM 1.4a Custom ROM

This is a known bug when you turn on USB access to the PC. e.g. turn on mass storage etc. Once that gets turned on, wifi will never work again. It will turn on then off right away.
You have to unplug the unit and power it off. Then plug back in. Wifi should turn on then as long as you DO NOT turn on USB to PC connection.

I am looking into if I can fix that bug but it is not a bug in my ROM. It's a stock manufacturer bug too.

Thanks, this solved the wifi turning on issue, however according to the settings the PC connection was off. But after a powercycling now the wifi stays turned on. But still there is no signal. The unit doesn't see my home network, although it is ot even plugged into the back of the TV but is further away and plugged into an HDMI cable...

I am awaiting the arrival of my UG802, I live in Spain, I bought in in4dealz, I wonder if the wifi problem is hardware or firmware? I read a lot but I did not clarify.

FYI the current youtube APP has buffering problems thats is for sure. All the guys with tablets here notice this issue as well. I usually cook this old version into my ROMs but did not do it this time.

What you do is use a root explorer and remove the youtube app from /system/app.

Can you guys try it and report back please. At present I do not have a TV that is 1080p and all my videos I put on sdcard are also not 1080p. Probably why I have not noticed the sync issue. All my vids etc are 720 and so is my tv. I can do 1080 on my PC monitor with a DVI adpater but I get no audio. Again probably why I have not seen this yet. Soon I have to get a big 1080p TV.


Also guys... what is the "class" of your sdcard! This is important for speed. I am using a class 10. Also there are tweaks we can do in build.prop to change the "buffer" size for the sdcard. This might also help.

Yes many people are having issues with the latest youtube app!
The 2 second audio issue is youtube you mean?

Odd that I do not see that on my RK3066 tablet (Yaundao N101). Might have to look into this and see what files I might take from Yuandao and see if it fixes it. Might be drivers related to the audio processor though so they may not be compatible.

as written above the sync issues occures on almost everything video related and gets more out of sync the higher the resolution is set.
also buffering from other flash sources seems to be broken like in youtube app. just tried ustream live from beatport and different sports streams the last days and cross checked via notebook to make sure it wasnt the stream source.

If you search around this site, you will find EVERYONE has an issue with ustream! It doesnt work on anything rockchip. So this is not a ug802 issue trust me.

My wife will shoot me but I think I am going to need to get a 1080P TV so I can fully test this issue. I do not have the sync issues on my older TV at 720.

My Yaundao RK3066 which is 1280x800 plays youtube HD fine using my older youtube APP as long as I have a very good wifi signal. It will sync out with a crappy wifi like if I sit in my garage.

i read many forums this days, first i must tell you that i'm owner of ipad and iphone, but i decide to give chance android devices i want to know more about this sweet things and afc. android os. ug802 is device witch is cheap for this my experiment. my ug802 is on a way, and i strong decide on what i read that first thing will be putting your ROM on it, but i must say that all this what a read is really big mess. first device have problem with construction /wifi/ then i read about this things about bunch of bugs, cooking roms etc.
must say at first that i'm expert in iOS and that things you write about is not present on this os. if you have ios device, you can jailbreak it, and that's it. you can put what you want, and all work out of the box. no problems with sync audio, video, lounchers etc. with ug802 even stock youtube or flash player app have problems.
hope that at the end device will be successfully upgradet with your ROM, and in short time i prove to myself that android OS is not that bad with things that i read in your and other forums. in other words i'm little scared

ok, then it may be an rockchip issue, doesnt make it any better? ;-) talking bout youtube app, just got notification seconds ago, that a new version is online! :-D they are following us...
btw. the ustream was running flawless in android browser the last minutes. never happend to me, that android browser performed better than opera. crazy hw/sw combination, but this tells me with a optimized rom the ug802 may perform like advertised! :-)
after freeing antenna and having router only 1m away, i'm quite sure its not suffering under weak signal anymore. so lets get the software adjusted! shouldnt it be a ugoos job? ;-)
but hey, if it gets you a new tv, plz keep playing with this toy! :-)

no need to be afraid of android, its a nice os. using it on my phones quite some time now and its getting better and better!

youtube app from 09.26 fixes the buffer issues! they are listening, wow. but still out of sync, which seems to be stick/rom related again. ;-)

I will try my best to improve the ROM. Many times I have in the past by using optimized LIB and binaries from other ROMs with the same SDK and platform (RK30 in this case). So I will do my best to make it better!

As for iOS comment. That is a closed architecture unlike Android. So while people jailbreak so things like Cedia can be used, CERTAINLY you do not see people making major OS mods like Android. Also Apple puts a lot of time into making the OS work well. Major dollars are spent doing that!
China, etc takes stock AOSP Android open source and ports it to the device. They do not spend the kind of time Apple does on iOS for sure! I agree with you very much iOS is very polished and works very well. If makers of Android devices would spend the time to make Android better for thier device, we would have a much better OS. Alas.... WELCOME TO ANDROID! The user community does more to improve Android products by modding ROMs than the manufacturers do..... Fact of life for Android for now. But long term.... due to cost, Android is going to win over iOS BECAUSE it is open source and many can help improve it! Just my opinion there

Let me ask. What are you not getting from the market? I do know other changes that can be made to build.prop to give much more market APP access (like Gameloft)! I never do them in ROMs because it has ramifications to other thnigs. But by doing some more tweaks to build.prop (telling Google you are a PT1000 the MOST supported product in Google), you can get much more!

But it can BREAK other things like RKupdater not being able to update from SDcard with update.img. For the ug802 and "basic" users. This is a problem!

I can tell you how to do this but it is ONLY for PRO guys that know how to recover from bootloop or brick! Let me know if you are interested in this? I can give you a build.prop that wlll not only give a lot more APPs but also maybe let gameloft games work! Again these changes WILL NEVER allow you to update from SDcard. YOU WILL have to use a PC flash tool.
