short question about ug802 flashing pc method

hi finless pls help me.
you say connect the ug802 with usb cable (so micro usb entrance and on pc normal usb entrance) to the pc. i did it, but then you say go to the menu? Should i plugin the stick in the tv or what? cause you didn't say this :S

And how can i enter the internal sd? with a male to female usb ?
the problem appears on every video, flash, external sd and so on..

Yes, plug the UG802 to the HDMI-port of your TV/monitor. For powering it, connect it to your pc.
Then follow the steps mentioned in the instruction.

well already solved it but whats this: Device cannot do flashmode, because of no drive!
This comes when i try clicking reboot to flashmode

P.s. my device was first on MTP, i changed than to Mass storage!

Dou you mean that the ROM flash tool does not recognize the device?

Does your computer regognize the device ?

You have to choose "connect to computer" in the advanced settings menu.

Your computer will recognize the device.

If you are not able to get it to flash mode, try another way (of course on your own risk)

1. Root the device following these instructions:

2. After successfully rooting it, restart the device.
3. Download a terminal emulator from Google Play, i.e. "Android Terminal Emulator"
4. open terminal emulator an type
"su" to have superuser rights
"reboot bootloader"
5. Restart device
6. Now go to the Windows device manager. The PC will recognize it as "unknown" device.
Now you can install the drivers following Bob's instructions

This is the way i did it because it wasn't recognized properly. Worked for me

I have your ROM flashed (the right way) and running great. I have a couple questions/suggestions. First, what's the status on going full screen? Netflix works awesome for me, but I would love to be able to get rid of the soft keys and use of all of my TVs real estate.

Second, I have a wonderful 720p capable Logitech webcam that surprisingly is recognized by the UG802, but the camera app lacks the ability to use the 720p capability, and Google talk will not recognize the camera (Skype does though). Is it possible to port the Cyanogenmod camera app (or another one) that might work better with a webcam, and is there a mod to force gtalk to recognize it?

In the ICS launcher the status bar is a common complaint for ICS. However if you switch the the original launcher which gets rid of the status bar, it should be gone playing movies etc.

That is why I left in the ug802 launcher so you could use both as needed. To switch back to the ICS launcher, if you go into the advanced settings you will see the status bar appear. Click the home button and you should be asked whic launcher to use. Pick launcher instead of launchernew and your back to the ICS launcher.

As for the camera thing, I can try but because I do not have one it will be hard for me to try and port a camera app. It's on the list for the next release.

Thanks Bob for your custom ROM. I got my UG802 yeterday, did the WiFi antenna mod and now get excellent wifi speeds. Today I flashed your 1.4 rom using an sd card, which worked well, except that I had to reboot by unplugging power before I could get wifi turned on. Anyway, it's all working well again.
Just one question - the Google Play store only offers Apps, not Movies & TV, Books, Music etc. I tried deleting the Play Store data but still only get Apps. Do you know what's up with it?

I need to do another Google Play fix (curtisey of Deadhp1's work) to remove the stupid China carrier in the framework. That fix will be in my next release.

Cannot Install Drivers

I did everything mentioned in the instructions to install driver for rk30skd under Device Manager(Win 7) but it will not install the driver.

I was able to upgrade to 1.4 using SD card method but still can someone chime in how to fix this problem under Windows?

well i have rooted and installed driver now, but hm i cannot enter flashmode like before
everytime when i click reboot to flashmode the error: device can not do flashmode, because of no device! comes.
I have pc option opened and mass stoage also! Now it's also rooted but why the hell it doesn't works?!
Also at the bottom i get the message Found rkandroid mass storage usb. WTF?!

p.s. i flashed before the finless rom via update.img and then tried->no success
flashed normal romvia sd -->no success.. also no success entering flashmode

infinite loop due to noob changes and fix

Hi everyone and many thanks to Bob,

Well, For my first post here, I want to share my experience. I bought 2 IBEX ug802+ (in fact, the main change I see corresponds to the wifi antenna (a tiny wire which is bounded to one side containing holes).

I flashed Bob ROM without any problem and it worked like a charm. It was the hard method with PC. Then I changed some files and I succeeded to brick the device !

So to unbrick it, I followed Bob method to open it (I am not as meticulous as Bob ), then I used the method described by Troz :

Since I used the hard method, the rk30 driver was already installed on the PC. So I had just to flash a new firmware and that's it !

I used the following steps :

4. Download Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.5 from http://arctablet.com/assets/tools/Firmw ... l_v1.5.zip.
5. Unzip them all.
9. Plug UG802 in to HDMI
10. Close the circuit next to the Nand chip: see picture on the link
11. Plug the USB power cable in to your computer (It is easier to plug the USB power to the UG802 first)
12. While keeping the circuit closed plug the other end of the USB power cable in to your UG802
16. Run RKBatchTool . exe as administrator and in the connected devices the first box should be a dark blue.
17. In the FW Path select the update.img and click Restore.

I first tried to use the ROM Flash Tool.exe but it didn't recognise the device


I hope it will help people who made the same error I did.

Go into settings and make sure USB debugging is turned off.

Also even though it says USB mass storage flip back and forth in setting between mass storage and MTP device a couple times and back to mass storage.
