    Results of Wifi Mod

Wifi before was unusable, 90% of the time does not even detect my wireless network.

After doing the wifi mod, I get a good signal, doing speed test gives me ~7mbps which i reckon is pretty good.

Thoughts about the custom rom (1.4)

There seems to be some graphical artifacts when using 1080p mode 60hz. More precisely tiny flicker dots here and there. Seems to be fine on 720p mode 60hz.

Also, I'm having problems mounting NTFS formatted USB Thumbdrive into a powered USB hub which I have attached. Mounting FAT32 USB Drives seem to be ok.

Could you possible change to a more pleasant boot animation?

Yeah, it's a bit in your face! However, thanks for the work on the Rom Finless! Has been a while since watching some of your videos in the heli world!

        Question:

I installed an app from an Italian Tv Channel (something like HBO GO).
To install I had to change the lcd density to 120 (I used build prop and changed ro.sf.lcd_density to 120).
The app installed correctly and it opens up, however I have a problem:

it tells me that connection to external tv/monitors are not supported by the app.
Basically, it thinks that the TV connected through HDMI is an external monitor (imagine an MHL connection between your phone and your tv) and the app does not accept that.

I obviously cannot change the app, but is there any way to tell the firmware that I am not connecting to an external monitor - change the settings so it recognizes the tv as the only possible output?

Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I've had this as my initial question since these went on sale. Does the device utilize HDMI like smartphone use HDMI or MHL? If so or if not is this causing programs liike Hulu+ HBO GO MAX GO BTN2GO not to play. And give an error message about HDMI output not allowed?

When mine arrives I'd start a thread unless the answer is just a simple "No, none of them work" If thats the case this thing will suck donkey balls. Guess there is always their webpages but the apps are much cleaner/easier to navigate.

Looking forward to that thread - hopefully we can find a fix.
I believe there should be a fix because I had an MK802 for 2-3 days (returned it to get the UG802) and that one did not have this problem - the app showed perfectly.
So the MK802 does not utilize HDMI like MHL.
So it should be software based....
It might just be a setting to change in Build Prop but maybe it's wishful thinking....

            WiFi mod makes wonders

In my case WiFi antenna was bent twice and wrapped around mobo. And not glued to the case or mobo at all. Prying instructions were most helpful in keeping case safe. Once I straightened antenna and pulled it thru the side hole - everything works fast without stuttering. Youtube, Netflix and streamed video.
            Yay!

              Hi,

I don't have wifi issues with the unit (I'm using the 2A power supply), but I do have trouble with audio/video stuttering or out of sync. Hopefully this should be resolved soon by the firmware, but I was wondering if it would be possible to modify the kernel to allow the unit to use the full 1.6GHz speed. I heard it was underclocked to allow the 0.5A supply of a TV USB port to be enough to power the unit, but for those who use the 2A it would be nice to be able to use the full speed too.
Any idea if this is possible?

              Thanks.

Regarding the AV sync issue on the UG802

I found this posted on another forum:

For the audio/video sync install some sort of cpu overclocker. I use Antutu CPU free version. I just have it set to performance and the audio/video sync isn't a problem at all.

I tried this myself, but I still have the problem. Can someone else please test this and let us know how it goes? Btw, you need to have superuser access (you need to have the ug802 rooted).

                  Clocking

You will need this ROM or stock rooted from armtvtech.com

There are free utilities like NSTools, or Voltage Control Lite. I already see default speed at 1.6GHz.
However, governor can be set to 'ondemand" and IO scheduler to "noop" for best results.
And - there is no overclocking option with stock kernel. 1.6GHz is max.

                    Power Adapter

Hey folks....just wanted to chime in about two things. 1) I love the Finless ROM. I've managed to do quite a bit of cool things with the ug802 since installing it. I actually have Ubuntu installed with a full desktop and have been playing around with that. (used the Complete Linux Installer app from the Play Store). Awesome to have a command line to use with full Linux/GNU utilities. Thanks Finless!!

                    2) Second thing is. I've been plagued with the wifi problems like lots of others (I think I have the 9/03 kernel). Mine is so bad that I can't even enable the adapter. It just shuts off all the time. Doesn't even want to turn on. I tried something new tonight though that I saw some other people suggesting. Didn't want to open up my case and mess with the antenna because I want to keep this thing portable/pocketable...so I took an old power adapter from my Droid1 and used it. And like magic, the wifi adapter is working flawlessly. Even picks up wireless networks in apartments quite a ways away from me. Unbelievable. I just did a speedtest.net test (via the andoird app) and got 33 Mbps download, and 6Mbps upload with it. Try a new power adapter or maybe plug into your laptop/PC to try power from that. I'm wondering if the included adapter is just too strong or generating too much EMI. Here's the stats on the two that I tried:

                    Original adapter
                    Output: 5V 2A

                    Droid1 Adapter I used
                    Output: 5.1V 850mA

I used the apple ipad 10w 2.1A usb charger and now I get all neighbours showing up and I have full bars connected to my apple express router at 150mbs without any disconnections at all. I think all the problems are solved by pluging in a decent power adaptor as the included one isnt capable to power. Make sure its above 2A as this device needs more juice than supplied adaptor.
I also Installed finless 1.4 Rom and a Logitech powered usb hub to power Mouse and Keyboard. So far all good but wish there was a kernel to get cpu @ 1.6ghz.

                        Touchscreen HID Quanta

                        Hey,
anyone knows how to get a touchscreen like the Acer T230H working on this device?
I read about being able to enable some HID_QUANTA... and recompile kernel at beargleboards - is there any easier way for us maybe?

Would be great to have this - GIANT Android in the Kitchen

No MAC and wifi always off?

                          Hi!

I've installed your ROM today on my UG802. Now after installing there is no more WIFI-MAC address and when I try to turn Wifi ON it never turns on and after a few seconds the switch went back to OFF.

                          What's going wrong?

After installing the ROM (sd-card method as I do not need more than 504MB at the moment) I've made a reset to factory settings. Didn't help

                          Comment

Ok, solution: had to reset settings in old settings-manager from stock, too. After that it works.

Thanks for the reply. I already rooted it and installed Antutu CPU and even though it lists it at 1.6, setting it to performance only lets it go up to 1.2Will those tools allow it to reach 1.6? I'll try them out as soon as I get home.
