    Hi Finless.

I flashed your firmware via the PC method and after that I tried updating the framework.jar to enable the market access but something went wrong. Now I am getting "Unfortunately, the process.android.phone" has stopped" followed by "Launcher has stopped". I keep getting these errors are unable to access anything. Is there any way to recover from this... Any help would be welcome...

Newby to UG802, couple of questions.

Hello, Congratulations, Awesome Job on this, thankyou a lot finless, i upgraded very easily, everything is working fine.

Im a newby to ug802, but no to android app development.

            a couple of questions.

            1) The default launcher hides the system bar, i want my app to do it but it seems it needs root permissions (busybox), can you tell why the default launcher seems not to need it? and how to install my app as such a launcher, could it be that the default launcher resides in system dir?

            2) Do you have an initial guide or any jump-start info on how to customize the Splash image and maybe the boot animation, i understand it resides on boot.img... can this be accomplished using any kind of "kithchen" what tools procedures will you implement to do this? (i have changed the png to rle alredy)

            3) Im using moborobo to install the drivers for the device, but in order to get "adb.exe" to start successfully seems that i need to have moborobo started, is there any other drivers i can install without moborobo for using debug mode? is the simple android_usb.inf method (adding some lines to this file) available for this device.

            4) where is finless bob paypal donation button?

I can use market enabler to go to all countries without any problem. Whereas installing flash player, I have the same problem like you at the first time. I do exactly as Bob described but flash player doesn't work. Finally I go to "setting > application" and find that flash player programs still exists there with 0KB. I just uninstall it and reinstall a new flash player. That's it!!!

I have a problem with your ROM... I cannot run any apk I install myself, if I install it from the market it works just fine but if I install the apk file itself, it reboots itself. What can I do? Thanks

                      wifi disconnects

Is it possible to flash one of deadhp's roms on your romsize modified one? I believe the old roms have better handling of the wifi issue? I have full bars on wifi, but wifi now disconnect by just launching a browser.
Other than wifi, which is not going to be solved anytime soon i guess, your rom is very good.
Any word on better wifi handling anywhere?

                      Think I found my problem.
Changed power supply and took the antenna outside of the box.
I now run this rom with a kernel from august, 26. I think.
                      Wifi mod and 5v,2.1A powersupply.

If it keeps this up, it's actually very good.
Now lets try to get the audio in sync
Last edited by hegg; 02 October 2012, 02:17. Reason: not wifi issue, a new powersupply did the trick

Does the kernel that comes in your ROM have uinput.ko, BoB (does your ROM include a kernel?)

Additional thought/question. I know there is no change log posted, but you mentioned wanting to add some features and I couldn't tell if you had or not yet by the version numbers. Anyway waiting patiently, first for this thing to arrive from China and then for updates to your ROM.

                          Good info in this thread

I just got my UG802 over the weekend. I'm running fully stock ROM. I noticed AV sync issue in streaming video from internet using RTP protocol and built-in "Video" player at 720p. However the sync issue is not pronounced as heavily as reading this thread might suggest. As for custom ROM - I should thank Finless for his work and will wait for JB release.
AV sync issue could be related to the implementation of HDMI in UG802. It certainly can be fixed in software. But it won't be easy. I don't know if Finless is armed enough to fix it. It could be at kernel level. Some googling and asking around might help to implement it in future ROMs. Another sure way of fixing it is to put AV receiver between UG802 and TV, and then program audio or video delay to achieve desired sync.
If there are media player like BSPlayer to support custom setting like that - very good.
My hopes are high with JellyBean because Google made it to have less latencies. So it might fix AV sync issue alltogether.
Also here are my experiences with UG802.
I ordered UG802 dual core Android HDMI stick from AliExpress. The seller even called me from China to confirm my address and then promptly shipped it. The stick came in approximately 2-3 weeks. Was shipped to New York by China AirMail, and then by trackable USPS to Michigan. Came undamaged and in working condition.
Review of UG802. You will need somewhat long (3-6ft) and better quality HDMI male-2-female cable, or HDMI female-female adapter if you already have spare HDMI cable (male-male) of good quality. I suggest gold plated HDMI cables with ferrite cores which you can cheaply get at monoprice dot com at 10 dol a piece. Included with UG802 HDMI cable is not good. If you stick device directly to TV (which you can) - WiFi reception greatly suffers being blocked by TV. I do not think you can use external USB WiFi stick over USB hub on UG802, so your only option is to move UG802 away from being blocked by TV using HDMI cable. You can use wired or wireless mouse with UG802. For wireless mouse or flymouse I used USB extender cable(male to female) to move mouse USB radio transmitter (@2.4GHz) away from UG802.
Customized Android Launcher on UG802 is good enough, that I didn't have need to replace it. It takes little time to get used to and all your standard Android settings are available under Apps->Settings. Google Play Market works on UG802. HDMI modes supported by UG802 vary from 720p to 1080p, which both work. There is no 1080i mode, sadly, cause I have older Panasonic Plasma TV. 720p mode worked on it. I also tested 1080p on newer Panasonic Plasma TV and Benq EW2730 LCD computer monitor. It's pretty amazing that this little device UG802 can drive giant TVs. There is no dedicated 3.5mm audio plug on UG802, so I have to figure out the way to connect the headphones to my older Panasonic or to HDMI. There is also microSDHC port which worked perfectly to transfer some of my apps. UG802 Built-in SDCard (called Nano memory) has 2GB available. And system space has only 470MB available. So plan to move your apps to Nano memory to keep your system stable. There are custom ROMs available for UG802 which provide root and better Android experience. I didn't bother yet to install them, because my apps, Netflix and Youtube work well. UG802 comes with 2 Video players (Movie Player and Video) of which I liked "Video" one the best because of its aspect ratio and zoom options; I even preferred it to MX Player since I cannot pinch-to-zoom on UG802. Overall: UG802 is very good HTPC player without any obvious issues.
                          Diagram of my setup:

                          UG802---Female/Female HDMI Adapter---Good HDMI cable----TV
                          !
+------USB male/female cable-----USB Radio stick for RF mouse

RF Flymose/Keyboard from iPazzPort (no touchpad sadly)

                              weak HDMI connexion

                              Hi,
I didn't experience problems to connect my IBEX 802+ to a LG TV monitor (and a video projector) but it was impossible to have it work on a LG PC monitor. To connect it on the PC monitor I had to use the furnished cable because there was not enough room to plug it directly.
It seems that the HDMI signal is too weak for some monitors.

In order to fix it, I used an old HDMI matrix (4 HDMI in, 2 HDMI out) with gold plated cables to connect to my TV and PC monitor, and it works. I don't know if it is due to the fact that the HDMI matrix is powered or that I used good quality cables.

                              set-up : UG 802 -> RF logitech keyboard with pad K400
______________-> HDMI matrix -> male - male HDMI cable - TV monitor
______________-> male - male HDMI cable - PC monitor -> 3.5 mm jack cable -> headphones
                              Wifi N (150 Mb/s) connexion to a router -> USB cable -> 2T HDD

I tried a USB to RJ45 cable and it works quite well to connect to the router but I think that speed is limited to 10 Mb/s
