Linux Boot?

Hello,
can anyone confirm if it is possible to boot into Linux from an MicroSD card with this ROM?

I'm a noob with (probably) a simple problem..

I cannot do the simple step of rebooting to flash mode

The USB setting is connected to Computer and the device is set a Mass Storage. My laptop then pick's up the device and so does the Flash tool. When i click 'Reboot to Flash Mode' i get an error pop up saying 'Device can not do Flash Mode, because of no drive.'

Any idea's people?

It seems that the contrast setting for the UG802 is way too low. There is a lot of the text options thatshow as gray on a over saturated grey/yellow background making it really difficult to read.

The MK802 has display settings which allow the setting of the contrast, do you reckon it would be possible to include a contrast setting into our UG802?

any idea / solution to the fact that the ug802 sees the tv as an external monitor (as if you would connect your phone to the tv with MHL)?
Unfortunately if there is no fix we cannot enjoy many apps that don't support external monitor views...

Add support for usb->lan lanrd9700

I bought a cheap usb->lan ky9700 from **** (5$), and it said it had support for android.
I plugged it in, and ofcourse nothing happens.
How do I add (maybe need to recompile soureces - which are available) to the rom? (using 1.4)

Anyone else having troubles with the "shutdown" feature of the Finless ROM? My 802 doesn't actually shutdown, it reboots when I select that. So clicking reboot and shutdown seem to have the same effect. I was hoping for a proper shutdown as I seem to be corrupting the VFAT filesystem on my external_sd card whenever I drop power on it. I have to keep reformatting it (fsck.msdos from the command line doesn't seem to fix it properly). Can't find a way to do a graceful shutdown. Is there maybe a command-line way to do that as a workaround?

I have a question for you pagesix1536, how on earth did u get ubuntu to run? I don't think my finless kernel supports loading loop devices, I can't get it to start. I have it installed properly and everything set up right, I just don't think my ug802 can load a loop device. I even tried manually loading the Ubuntu img as loop to a mnt point and it said invalid argument. How did u get yers to work?

Hi Bob,

As many others, I've been following this post since pretty much it's first existence. I currently have owned the UG802 for about a week now and have had absolutely no problems with Wifi Signal quality (stock). Of course, other than the fact that the speed is moderate, and the known issues with it becoming flaky if you piss about with it. I get 3/4 Bars standard from 15-20 feet.

I've installed custom Launchers and Apps off of Google Play, and that usual jazz. No real problems. If the device was rooted and nothing more I doubt I would really need much more. That being said, I have heard talk of a number of fixes, improvements,and changes talked about in here to be put to a future Rom update and I'm curious, around how long I would have to wait to see a Finless Rom 1.5? Is it worth the wait or should I just grab 1.4 and be done with it.

I was originally hoping to wait until I could do a simple Rom backup or that there was a stock rooted firmware lying around before I took the plunge.

Dear Bob, thanks! Your tool is great. It installed very easily.

One question: my son want to play minecraft pocket edition, but I can't find it in the play store. (I actually see only free games.) I hoped it would be possible to install other games as well after your hack. Did I do something wrong? Do I have to check a box?

If you've bought the app, in your case minecraft, with the same account on a different device you can easily install it by going to play store an then to "my apps" in the menu. Then just swipe over to the "all" tab. Here is a list of all the apps you've ever installed or bought with your account. Just find minecraft and install it

i've rooted my device (not finless bob rom) and installed and got working droidmote because i want to use it for games, neither droidmote nor my mouse left button seem to work to select an object in various games, they do of course work at menus levels

appreciate this is a bit of topic, but any ideas?
