During the hunt for a suitable rom for the UG802, to fix some issues
I came across this:

deadhp1 reviewed it on armtvtech forum. Looks like it has its own issues and doesn't solve anything. Pass.

just in case: to get flash working in standard browser you need to enable plugins in browser settings! ;-)

OK so I do not think I am going to get a "serious" jellybean ported to ug802. However fear not, I hear one is coming from Ugoos.

The reason I cant get it ported is a difference in how the ug802 Wifi is implemented. The wifi drivers are in the kernel and NOT in /etc/firmware like most other devices. If it was in /etc/firmware we could probably do it. Understand JB requires a JB compiled kernel thus JB will not boot on the existing ICS ug802 kernel.

The MK808 JB kernel will boot on the ug802 but since we dont have any driversd available to put in /etc/firmware, or insmod a KO into the kernel, it is impossible to get wifi working on another ROM port. Sure we can and have ported other tablet JB ROMs to the ug802 that have the same wifi hardware, but then it has other issues like screen resolution, rotation issues, etc.

I have not given up finding a good port combo (kernel and system) but again I hear we have a JB ROM coming soon anyway.

Touchscreen

Great job with the ROM Finless. I am happy not to be using the original interface.

I have been trying to setup my touchscreen monitor to work with the ug802 but android is treating the touchscreen as if it was a touchpad -- swiping acts as dragging the pointer. So if you touch the screen "as a click" it will click wherever the pointer is and not where you are touching the screen.

Is there a way around this? There are no settings on the options to define the input method. Any help is very much appreciated.

am i understanding you correctly, you are not able to release your next rom? and if not are you going to re-vamp the 1.4 releasr with the identified mods, e.g. play store access

Yes I will do a 1.5 but it will be ICS. I need to update it based on feedback of 1.4. However as I said I am being told we may see a new ROM from ugoos in the next day that is suppose to be JB. Soi I will do BOTH ROMs no worries.

i suppose i am a bit cynical about ugoos, i have looked at their website and it looks a bit halfbaked to me, also the device isn't a phone so i'm not sure as to how great jellybean would be anyway.

if you are going to do a 1.5 here's my plea:- something for shutting it down properly, i know you have already expressed your opinion this is findamentally a hardware issue, and your far more expert than me but loots of devices especially tv's can be put in standyby mode with a software command? anyway thats my biggest gripe because i often find it a real pain gettthe device to start again

I have looked at this pretty extensively and this is not just a TV player problem. My Yuandao N101 will not power off if the charger is hooked up. It might be possible but this appears to be some hardware thing implemented by RockChip.

There are 3 issues I have with ALL my RockChip 3066 devices (I have 4 of them).

1) As pointed out while power is hooked up it will not shut down. It just reboots. You can forceable shut it down but then it does not charge.
2) SDcard corruption issues! See this post:

3) Sleep and battery drain in standby issues. These are somewhat related to the SDcard issue and Wifi sleep.

I am beginning to think Rockchip rushed out the processor and chipsset before all bugs were worked out. Now maybe a new loader or some other firmware can fix this stuff but to date, it has not shown up!

Hey all, so what is the consensus on Flash player? Which one should be in my 1.5 ROM this time around?

Also do you want me to offer both a 1GB and a 2GB APP space version (user selectable)?

Any other wishes other than full GPlay Fix, FLash player, and stuff I can actually do? Yes I will try to do my WIfi lockout patch (like theMK808) BUT because this unit uses a different driver, I do not know if it is possible! I will try.

P.S. I will have a 2.0 ROM version when I get JB from ugoos. So ICS will stay at 1.X so just an FYI how I name my ROMs.

I think maybe it has an issue with USB mass storage mode because it brings my htc up as a cd drive

Yep I dont know what this pc's issue is I know it x64 but that doesnt justify its usb mass storage issues. hehe any thoughts on that its a work laptop tho so who cares. I use it to dev more than do work lol...soldiering on and looking forward to 2.0

Hi Bob, Can you please add usb Bluetooth support, game pad like ps3 and xbox 360 if you can and i was watching movies online from different websites over weekend and on some of them sound was out of sync and on the others it was working fine. YouTube via browser works fine.

Flash mode

Hi!
I spent quite allot of time trying to get in Flash mode without success.
finally I've tried a different method with success.

1. installed terminal emulator
2. type: SU then reboot bootloader
3. then installed the drivers
4. reboot the PC (& UG802)
5. type: SU + reboot bootloader
6. the Flash tool then recognized the FLASH mode on the UG802.
7. erase NAND
8. Intall new ROM 1.4 et voila!
