But then I go to this question. For as SHORT as the boot screen etc is up, does this really make a difference vs what I do in my ROMs to make the user experience better?
I mean really? Is it that important?

wireless remotes?
First of all - Thanks for being a dev for something not mainstream. This forum has been a great help.
I've tried using the following remote with the UG802 (connected the wifi module directly to the usb port and also via a usb hub). The remote works, keboard works perfectly.
However, every few mins the pointer disappears at the bottom of the screen and swiping or moving finger up moves the pointer up but it slides right back down instantaneously.
Most evident when opening playstore or anything that accesses wifi-usbComment

The original MK808 boot screen is really nice, it's a simple Google TV logo. Add your logo to the right bottom corner, and done. My opinion.Originally posted by Finless View Post

I do thank you Finless for the ROM. I was very disappointed when I thought I was going to escape the Roku 2 Box cage and get full control over my TV only to setup my MK802 and find its Android is locked into Communist China. I have excellent tablets direct from China but they all shipped with regular Android, Browser, & Google Play.
I found out about your ROM & wasn't angry anymore. One problem. For some reason the Rom did not root Google Play. I no longer see all the Chinese apps and I can download Dolphin (which solved my YouTube problem) but I still get the block on Netflix ("not yet available in your country") & I had to download and play with ES Explorer to find and launch your app page. The Chinese apps remain and many of your Rom installed apps will not open.
I can't find a post where anyone mentions these problems or this thought. I'm wondering if I should eliminate Google sync (backup & auto restore) & try SD Card installing Rom 1.4 again, or just wait and install new ROM 1.5?Comment

I applied one of the fixes to play store in 1.4 but I did not apply the telecom fix from deadhp1. I will do that in 1.5.
As for the china apps still being there, It means it did not flash my ROM properly via update.zip. Make sure your SDcard is not corrupt and watch for errors while it is updating.

ROM Install Issue

Thank you for you quick reply. I erased and recopied the 1.4 Rom three times and today I downloaded it again, this time from a different computer. No go. It does go through the install process. It seems to me that it does the job rather quickly considering that it is rooting the UG and then installing. I have been using the same Sandisk SD card which hasn't seen much use. The three music video files on it work well. There is a lost directory file but I didn't think that can interfere. I'll order some new SD cards and try again.
I assume my UG 802 is the same as the ones others have successfully rooted but one question. People here refer to the R UG802. Mine doesn't have any R or word begining with an R. Also, I have zero wireless problems & it gets slightly warm, never hot with use. The seller I bought it from ordered it direct from China for me two weeks ago. Given his excellent service, I am sure it was made in September.
I am reluctant to try the flash version of your ROM, given complaints I've read here. I have no video, flash or Wireless issues & dont want to risk any. By the way, I tried a factory restore with SuperUser. It seemed to go through the motions but nothing changed.
I think my screen shows each step taking place and I get the reboot and "successful" message each time. I cannot read the entire lines though as they start off my TV screen.Comment

What I am talking about is a easily corrupted FAT32 files system on SDcard. Just because you can see files does not mean there is not a problem! 3 people so far had problems using update.img because of a corrupted SDcard file system. Read up about 10-20 posts and see. Update.img version is VERY picky about SDcard corruption. Most people do not even know the sdcard is corrupted until they look!
Anyway, please read this post on how to check and fix your SDcard. Make sure that is good first.
No one else has reported a problem like yours. So if it is not your sdcard, then I am not sure. Works for everyone else so far.
BTW the PC flash version does only ONE change vs the update.img version. It gives you more APP space period. Nothing else! So whatever works or does not between the 2 is inaccurate! They are identical ROMs functionality wise.
