Are you asking if my ROM for the ug802 will work on the MK802-3?
It probably will but unless the MK802-3 uses the exact same Wifi hardware then you will not have working wifi!

The ug802 wifi drivers are cooked into the kernel. So the ug802 kernel will ONLY work on devices that have the same wifi hardware.

I see. That shouldn't be a problem. I use a USB Ethernet adapter anyhow, The wifi signal in my room is too crappy for me to use Wifi.

I'll have to give it a shot. This is the device I have http://www.rikomagic.co.uk/forum/vie...php?f=9&t=2284

When i figure out how to backup the rom, just incase the finless doesn't work. I'll get back to you all on whether it was successful or not.

I pulled it apart. Looks like it uses a realtek chip, possibly for the Wifi. Its a seperate daughter card that has been soldered onto the main board.

So you have a MK802-3 and your saying the ROM on it is terrible?

If so BUMMER as some were asking if the MK802-3 ROM could be used on the ug802 to fix the ug802 problems!!!

My UG802 recognized without problem the BT dongle.

          It works very well.

Granted, I have only had it for several hours. It seems pretty stable though. The only thing that caused some issues was trying to run Antutu. That caused me to have to reboot the device. It is much faster than my 802 though. Pretty quick. I have a tegra 3 tablet, and from my limited use today, the 802v3 is pretty snappy. I'm impressed with teh speed. The rom just has a ugly cursor, an ugly launcher, and very limited google play support. I think it suffers from some of the other roms, that still have the Chinese local setting which limits Google Play. But so far, everything I usually use except hulu (which is a hulu problem, not an android one) have worked great. I just had to install the apps I use from a backup version from my motorola phone, but it worked. Netflix, crackle, crunchyroll, es file manager, and plex media app all work fantasticaly. I haven't noticed any A/V sync issues, but I haven't tried to play a local file yet.

My biggest complaint is, its not rooted. That is what I loved about the MK802v1, it came stock rooted, which allowed me to tinker really easily.

I think the MK devices are getting there, it seems as though each device is an improvement on the last. We just need a good following of developers and I think we'd be on track.

an advice from me to you, don't install ug802 firmware on it please, try to make a backup and share with us and so we can find a way to root and fix playstore, you are the only one has this firmware for now, so don't flash it with ug802 firmware

Sounds good. I will keep it, because it does work fairly well. I'll just have to intsall a new launcher LOL. I'll look into getting a backup, and I'll share that with you all. You're probably much smarter than me at this stuff.

I just tested a local 720p video, with MX player I was able to enable HW decoding, as well as HW+ decoding. While I had the res set to 1080, i noticed a very small jerk every once in a while, but when I reverted to 720p, which is honestly much easier to read than 1080p the video played smooth. MX player will usually fail to launch HW decoding if the device is unable, and it worked great. So I assume HW accelleration is working as well.

I just ran the flash tool to see if it would detect my device. It did.

there are alot of boxes checked inside the flash tool, one for each part of the filesystem it looks like. The only one that wasn't checked was backup. If I check this, reboot into flash mode, will it backup the rom onto the SDcard? If so I can try that out now.

so it looks like ICS, and I assume JB have an adb backup feature. Unfortunately the driver included in the Finless files didn't work on my windows 7 machine. I'll try a few different things, then i'll try to see if i can find a driver from rikomagics site.

                        I'll keep you posted

My flash tool will not backup the ROM unless someone has figured out somehting I am NOT aware of. It is a flash tool and if you press any buttons your ROM is gone!

You can however backup the ROM. backup.img is what we need dumped!
Do you have and know linux at all? That is what it will take.

I will also talk to geekbuying tonight and see if they can get the stock ROM.

yep, I have a linux machine at work, and a laptop here at home, but it doesn't have internet.

So we just need the backup.img. From what I found on xda, I can run adb backup -all and that should backup the system to a file on my computer.

The instructions I read were for windows, but adb should be the same. I'll bring it to work with me tomorrow and give it a shot.

Nope.... be careful reading things on XDA etc. There are several ROM architectures out there. RockChip does NOT work this way.

The windows way to do it is to root the phone using an APP. Read about here on Deadhp1's forum:

                              http://www.armtvtech.com/armtvtechfo...c.php?f=6&t=28

Then you use rkdump to dump the ROM to SDcard using ADB.

However in linux there is also a way to do it that I think is easier as it does not require root:

Thinks for the heads up, I appreciate it. Been using it for the past hour to watch 720p video, It rebooted on me once, but I think its because I had force GPU rendering on, and I'm only powering it from a USB port on my computer. It is also staying amazingly cool to the touch, unluke the MK802v1

It is 9pm here, so I'll take it into work in about 12 hours. I'll try to back it up on my Linux machine, and if successful I'll post it here. Either way you'll hear from me.

Thanks for the help!!! I love this thing!
