Good find, Edy.

(I) TWRP_Recovery:
A) If I flash TWRP_Recovery + SuperSu, I can do a backup that can be flashed back should the tablet turn into a brick? What do I use for retoring the backup, SP Flash or from Recvoery?

TWRP is for now only available method to create a full tablet backup/can be restored later using TWRP recovery.

B) Would TWRP backup IMEI?
Yes.
C) What's the significance of NVRAM partition?
In NVRAM partition (hidden) is stored your IMEI.

D) Your tutorial mentioned that flashing the original recovery.img from FW v1.04 after flashing TWRP_Recovery + SuperSu would turn the OTA back on. Since my T9 is now 1.07, would this procedure return the phone to 1.04 or stay at 1.07? And what about the root?
Reflashing only original recovery.img from V1.04_V1.07 (I'll have to check later to see what's with this FW kit) through SP Flash Tool will restore OTA functionality/(phone?)tablet will remain on current 1.07/root will be preserved.

(II) Root:

A) So unlike iRoot, all files created by SuperSU will pass integrity check?
Yes

B) Root is required by Titanium_Backup, a popular software here. Is Titanium still needed if TWRP is installed?
With Tianium you could backup/restore .apk/settings/data individually or in batches
TWRP will backup_restore all partition/s content.
C) Many Chinese made Android devices (such as the MT6752 Wa1) do not come with Google Play Store installed. I've been struggling installing apps like Firefox, Chrome, Maps etc from apk. They would either not install, or wouldn't run. One suggestion given was to copy the Google Play Store apk into the system, and this would require root access from a working source as well as destination. Any help on installing G_P_S without root is most appreciated.
What is that device?
Let's keep discussion here only about Cube T9/PM me with details and I'll try to help you in my spare time measure.
(III) Driver

A) Just to confirm, "PreLoader USB VCOM Port (COMx)" stays on and not disappear when a powered off T9 is connected to your system?
No, will dissapear..this is normal behaviour.
B) When connected to a PC powered on, is the full system inclusive of root accessible to the PC?
No, only storage partition (SD card0)
C) I'm having a good time with the MT6752 phone. This time "HTC Android Interface" popped up under "Android Devices", nothing showed up under Disk Drives. Also no access to the root from PC. Any suggestions where I can find help will be most appreciated.
Try under Devices and Printers and check on phone how is connected to PC (MTP?) Look here, maybe that will help you.

Look under first post on this thread and you'll find all info you may want, kept together with links for every file(just edited 1 hour ago).
Downloding now, V1.07 appeared on Pan Baidu (tnx.@Giouncino for attention).

Greetings Edy, thansk for the additional reading material.

I. Backup:

Now that FW1.07 is officially released, this is what I intend to do:

(i) Flash FW1.07 with SP Flash Tool. This should remove all corrupted files.
(ii) Flash TWRP + SuperSu. All files should pass integrity check, but OTA update is now disabled.
(iii) Create TWRP backup (using recovery?) as and when required.
(iv) When OTA update required, flash the original recovery.img from the FW1.07 package.

Now, what is the proper way to create additional keyboard layout files without root access, and that will pass integrity check?

II. Drivers:

The following is what my Win7x86 system reports when T9 is connected powered-on using the power charging cable. The WA1 was tested for comparison. It lacked the connect as USB storage option, but offered the option to connect as a virtual drive.

Once again, many thanks and best regards to Edy for the detail instructions.

Yes, just flash FW V1.07 and you're good to go.
For TWRP Backup/Restore watch this quick guide (tnx Lepi) at 01:30 https://yadi.sk/i/ABm4gGcCXyWWN
For rooting with TWRP look here https://yadi.sk/d/_qkzVHXfY7LWK
About new KB layout files...try to create this custom files after root is acquired and to set right write/read permissions for that files in ES File Manager/Root explorer (don't ask me how to set that W/R rights in explorer..you have a lot of tutorials/examples on YouTube )
I'm thinking these files won't pass integrity check, but is very possible that will not bother you in the next updates.
This time T9 drivers are installed correctly.

Be very carefull when you peel mate foil, is attached on the screen, not on touchscreen (outside is mate) and do yourself a favour and have some gloves ...greasy from hands is very difficult to clean entirely.
Reassembly process is easy, do these steps in reverse order...........his was my experience and I shared with you guys.
Do this on your own risk, if you are not very skilled in phone/tablet,etc opening/repairing process just go to a professional.

Just remember to desolder battery black wire (-) to prevent any damage to battery controller.
I have done this on my own risk..and this approach was different from what @Booshman did.
Is somehow risky but not that much...touchscreen removal with heatgun is more risky in my opinion and is very possible to crack your touchscreen
Process time ~1 hour for me..for all you guys should be very easy with all these pictures.

My Cube T9 is showing as MID Android Phone

I have a recently acquired Cube T9 and I'm having trouble getting it to connect to my Win7X64, I can get it to connect to a VistaX86 PC.

I've installed the MTK preloader and gotten past that error message, but I can't get the device drivers to be recognized.

In Windows Device Manager my device is shown as "MID Android Phone" and not as Cube T9.

Using the "Hardware Info" app the Cube T9 is shown as "MID" for model, manufacturer, device product and brand!

Does that sound right???

What driver package you use?
Just uninstall current loaded drivers from Device manager (inclusive deleting old ones in uninstall process) and update pointing to this package (previously extracted) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_...MVE&authuser=0.

Hi Edius,

That's the one I used, as well as the auto install package from earlier in the thread.

I uninstalled previous devices.

Which .inf file do I need to specify as the driver for "MID Android Phone"

Do I need to add them all as "Add legacy hardware" under Device Manager Actions, or is there something else I should be doing. Sorry, I'm new at this! (And thanks very much for your help!)

1. Download TWRP_Recovery+CUBE-T9.rar in your PC link
2. Extract archive and you'll see MT6752_Android_scatter.txt and recovery.img files.
3. Power off tablet.
4. Open SP Flash Tool v5.1452.00 from my Google Drive link or any version of SP Flash Tool included in previous T9 ROM's V1.02 or V1.04.
5. Go to Scatter-Loading and browse for MT6752_Android_scatter.txt
6. All boxes must be unchecked, except recovery
7. Select Download only mode or Firmware Upgrade mode.
8. Click on Download.
9. With tablet powered off connect USB cable(do not use USB 3.0 port, only USB 2.0 ports are compatible) and you'll see progress bar working at the bottom of SP Flash Tool very fast ....at 100% you'll see a green check box showing Success.
10.Turn off SP flash Tool and disconnect USB cable from your PC.

Go to TWRP recovery from tablet Off state pressing/holding Power for about a second then press and hold vol+ until a menu displays at the bottom left.
Scroll through the menu options with vol+ and select with vol-.
You may need to know that OTA update will not work anymore with TWRP installed...only stock recovery will give you succesfully updates OTA.
To flash back original recovery.img do the steps described above (with original recovery.img from FW's V1.02/1.04) and OTA will work like before.
This TWRP recovery is the only way to backup/restore all partitions from T9 (including NVRAM) and to root with SuperSu avoiding chinese root programs.

Regards, Edy.
Thanks for posting this, Edius ..
I have been lazy and have yet to try this ....just using the VRoot. I am now upgraded to 1.08.

Before I do, am I understanding correct that TWRP will give me root just as VRoot did?

Also ....
Should I delete VRoot first? &
Should I install SuperSU and delete Superuser?

Thanks again!

You're the first one I heard with LCD cracked in dismantle process.

Yes, TWRP will give you root using SuperSU (you don't have to do some special stuff with that).
I have read here few days ago about root procedure through TWRP (Lepi's video tutorial about root with TWRP here ).
I bet you have some corrupted system files who won't pass integrity check...just enter on default recovery and check this before you do anything else.
SuperUser must be uninstalled first.

Just reboot to recovery (I suppose you are now on default factory recovery, not TWRP) and you'll see in main screen last option on bottom ("run system integrit check" or something like that..I don't remember exactly since I'm in TWRP for some time)

Thanks. Got it. Scanning now.

For other noobs or those who just forget ...like me!

T9 recovery access.
Tab off; hold down vol up ...press power
Access menu will appear ...very small
Use vol up to navigage to recovery; press vol down.
Tab will boot to droid figure (mine shows an exclamation point)
Press power to access second menu
Press vol DOWN (opposite of above) to move cursor to integrity check.
Press vol up.

Mine is finished now.
Tablet system check FAIL!!

Do I need to reset to factory? OR ...is there a simpler way to fix and keep tab as is????

Thanks

Edit:
I re-booted and tablet is doing fine. Using SD Maid to clean and will re-check integrity and report back.

Oh ....I have started making small text files to help my memory on some of these procedures.

Since you are rooted just backup desired app's (with data) with Titanium and reflash V1.07 through SP Flash Tool/OTA to 1.08 and restore your current apps.
Another option is to root with TWRP (after you previously unroot/removed SuperUser) and delete manually all corupted files keeping all your system data/settings as is.
I still recommend clean install FW v1,07, OTA upgrade to FW v1.08, flash TWRP followed by a full(clean) system backup through TWRP.
That demands more time but results are guaranteed.
