kszaq Just updated and all seems very good, BluRay disc loads from hard-boot, Wifi works when resuming from suspend and, this may just be me, everything seems smoother! Great work yet again!

I will, at some point, take a peak at my board so it can be noted as working with your builds (as said I think it's the A_board that jed and Kosta have). Pity we don't have the signature facility as we could all have our board and box listed to help newbies. Anyway as said great work and with Jarvis release candidate 6.1 out looks as if that may be the next step. To be honest the current version is pretty good so if we end up with all the sound sink issues, seems to be standard with every new Kodi release, then some of us may just sit on the current build!

Installed on SD card, works like a charm on MEMOBOX MXQ! Finally able to watch my blu-ray isos! Had to add remote.conf file for remote to work. Multichannel audio through HDMI works, only some HDMI cec issues, keeps turning my receiver to pass through mode.. is there any HDMI cec config file? is there a way to enter android w/o reboot?

Anyway, you can get the remote.conf form the HD18Q build from this link to git repository.

To install it you can either connect via samba to your box and leave the file in the Configfiles share, or copy it to a SD Card / pendrive and copy it to /storage/.config folder using OpenElec's file manager.

If that remote.conf file is not working for you, you can try the ones from other builds.

This should also work for kostaman.
        Great work kszaq

I'm facing some weird problems with my AM_MXQ_A board (rlt 8189ETV chip). All was running wel with 6.0.1.2 and all of a sudden the board stopped booting. I attached a serial console and found that the bootup stalled after the bootloader started the kernel. As I didn't change anything I thought this was pretty weird and tried to reflash. Device boots up from sd after toothpick and flashes new version to nand. But after reboot it stalls at this line

I was able to reflash original stock android rom which does work!! But once I want to go back to OpenElec the board stalls on on this line. Anybody got any idea what could be wrong here? Maybe a hardware issues or bad flash block or something? So no problem to boot into recovery or into original Android ROM, it's just that none of kszzaq's (nand, sd) builds work any longer, I've tried all recent version to no avail (even 6.0.3.1)

I could try to boot into uboot and load kernel on different address (not from nand) but no idea how to boot further. One thing I did notice is that the address of timer changes from boot to boot. Not sure whether this is normal or not.
jekkos This is something I see for the first time - not that I've ever attached a serial console... Can you compare the boot log with when you boot Android? Please also try 6.0.3.2 which does not have multiple device trees embedded and it may be a bit more compatible with some boxes.

On the back of what you've done, I've risked the previously unthinkabe with the purchase of an Ott mxq for a friend who lives in Sri Lanka. Obviously I'll test it before it goes out but I think I have a fair chance of it working without too much messing.

The beloved mxq beelink red tickboxes seem to be reaching the end if their availability, at least cheaply. If you decide to move on to other boxes at any time in the future, please tell us what you're moving to and I for one will follow.
sonofdibnah Thank you! At the moment I don't have plans to move to something newer as S805 boxes fit my needs. S905 devices are being worked on by many talented developers and I think that in a few months time you'll be able to run stable OpenELEC builds on them just fine. Also, S905 flash layout allows for easier porting as Device Tree is stored on a separate partition. There are OpenELEC builds from razdolbaev available at http://amlinux.ru/image/devel/ and I've heard they run pretty well.

this is a kodi log for you... if nothing comes of it dont worry i feel terrible bothering you about all these problems.
Don't feel bad, I like a bug hunt from time to time. Unfortunately until I'm able to reproduce your issue I'm unable to help further... Have you tested Jarvis beta build - e.g. on a separate SD card? Please also get me a full system log (http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Op...upport_logs.3F) and we'll see if anything can be figured out from it.

You can try running my builds from SD card. They don't modify flash content at all and you'll be able to tell if this ROM runs well with your box. If it doesn't, you simply pull out the SD card and you're back to stock.

For configuring CEC please read release notes. Currently there is no way to switch to Android from menu and there will definitely won't be a way to switch without a reboot as they are completely separate operating system. I know that there are some implementations of dual booting Windows/Linux on some tablets available but this is something out of my abilities.

Everyone: if you're experiencing issues with Broadcom WiFi in my latest builds, I'm on it and the issue will be fixed in the next build. I'll also post an updated 7.0 beta.

kszaq Can you patch in Pulse audio support or Alsa support in your next 6.0.3 build? I want to try something...The Retroarch emulator uses either Alsa, Alsa(Threaded) audio drivers. Since we are missing Pulse audio I dont get sound from my NES roms...performance on the mali gpu is astounding though...fps are over 60 in all roms tested...its really the smoothest looking nes emulation i have seen...just got to get the audio working

kszaq OpenELEC 7.0 development build Works great on my MXQ OTT 1gb apart from it does not save any of my changes. When I reboot, they are lost. I have not tried the MXQ build yet, only HD18Q, but if I do, I will post back and let you know. I am back on version 6.0.3.1 for now. Thanks ksaq

Have you noticed any improvement in video quality with Jarvis? Someone here did mention they had sound sink problems with some files/streams.

I'm hoping the move to Jarvis will be smooth as it's kind-of like my end goal. K's current version is great on my MXQ, will have a look at my board number at some point. It'd just be perfect to get ride of the occasional judder but perhaps it has more to do with CodeSnakes code or perhaps even the box itself just not being able to handle the processing? I don't know as I'm not techie but it would be great to get the perfect build which will last for years.

Yes add-ons will probably stop working but HEVC 264/256 encoding is going to be around for quite a while I think, so with that perfected on the MXQ together with, already very good, MP3 playback it fulfills my needs and probably most peoples. .

sammaz Alsa is the engine that Kodi uses for sound. I don't think that PulseAudio can be added that easily. Does the emulator run inside Kodi or as a separate app? If it runs as a separate app, you may need to stop Kodi before starting the emulator by issuing systemctl stop kodi command.

pigbait Unfortunately there's nothing unusual with your log except for the stuttering. One more thing... when you test MXQ and M8 do you use the same ethernet socket and cable?

Thanks for reporting. I am currently using a 7.0 build with fixes from yet unreleased 6.0.3.3 and my settings save OK. I will post the builds later today or tomorrow and you can check if they fix this.

PatrickJB As far as I remember, sound sink issues were due to some parameter lacking in my config file and this is unrelated to Kodi itself. I was able to upgrade my box from Isengard to Jarvis with no data reset and all works well at the moment. I hope your move will also be that smooth. As for the occasional judder, it has nothing to do with Codesnake's code, it's the Amlogic decoder and implementation in Kodi. Actually Codesnake is working on a new decoder for some time and from what he says it will let us get rid of many stuttering issues when it's released.

Thanks kszaq Here is the last lines of the retroarch.start file :

                      systemctl stop kodi
                      modprobe snd_bcm2835
                      $ADDON_DIR/bin/retroarch -c $RETROARCH_CONFIG_FILE -L $ADDON_DIR/lib/libretro/$1_libretro.so "$2"
                      rmmod snd_bcm2835
                      systemctl start kodi

Is there anything there that would be causing sound to fail besides the Alsa setting in retroarch?

                        kszaq

                        modprobe snd_bcm2835

This line always fails to find the snd_bcm2835 module. I think that if you can add that module to the next release this would be fixed. Is that possible?

                        Comment

sammaz snd_bcm2835 is Raspberry Pi sound card module and it's not available in our kernel and - most of all - not needed at all. You can delete both lines containing it. Have you tried enabling ALSA in retroarch configuration file?

I think I found the issue...have to wait a min to test this but over here http://openelec.tv/forum/128-addons/...-rpi?start=240 they seem to have the same issue and were able to solve it by adding :

                            set audio_driver = alsa
                            audio_device = hw:0,1

                            in retroarch.cfg

running "aplay -l" in terminal shows that our HDMI audio device is 0 so this should work. Will replay back asap

                              That fixed audio!

Now I have all roms and systems in Rom Collection Browser launching from Openelec and quitting to openelec successfully with sound

The mk808b plus can even run psx isos like tekken 3 at full speed! This is so cool!

OK, I'll probably try the Jarvis build when you put up the new test version. As for the judder, it's not a big issue and most users wouldn't even notice it, as it's only every 20min or so if at all but, but would be great to get it sorted.

I've mentioned it before but the new build is smoother after using it for a couple of days. The CPU doesn't seem to get as hot either, I was getting 89 degrees before now the average seems about 72 or lower and the start temp is 40 degrees.
