I was also thinking of doing a hard reset of OE and then reinstalling my backup to see if that resolved the problem. If we had to set up our addons and settings again it wouldn't be that much of a big deal. Certainly the more recent builds have become faster so the changes have improved the OE experience.

Its an issue with Kodi 16.....happens on android as well....you lose all your skins changes....

In my case after using serch for example after a few serches kodi freezes and have to reoot .

Had a play and it seemed alright for me. I did experience some problems with my favorites on 6.90.2. What box are you using? Maybe your cpu is overheating or something?

All of K's 6x builds, except 6.90.2(Jarvis), use Kodi 15.2. From 6.0.3.2 some of us have had problems with the skin default problem. So it's a bit of a mystery at the mo!

kszaq Did a few more tests on 6.0.3.4 (I know this isn't the test version you mentioned yesterday)

I got the skin to change and retain the settings with a remote reboot but strangely it even worked with a hard-boot. I took a log.

Then I changed a few things back and POP, defaults again. I took a log.

When the skin reverts to default my favorites are still there but the weather addon no logger works or is available!

          Anyway PMed you the logs.

hi there , my box is black MXQ with AM_MXQ_A 20150825 bord.
currently with the first test build of openelec 7 with phenomenal skin, every thing works ok , ecepet the thing i mentiond "freeze" of kodi.
i dont think it's a cpu overhiting issiue becaus the cpu show's at work 62 c and Ks' said that it is not that accurate any way.
i tryied to revert to 6.0... builds with updat tar file but the box get's stuk at kodi 15.2 logo on startup and will not load kodi even after reboot, so now i'm with the current ver and every time it gets stuk i simply reboot the box.
have already uploaded my log files so Ks' will look it up, still waiting for results.

Does your box freeze using confluence? I've been meaning to look at my board number for a while but have been too busy. Yes I'm using an all black MXQ but, as I'm sure you know, there are many different boards in these boxes.

Yes, I noticed that fork at the moment it was created. At the moment there are no changes from the user point of view, only for developers. It seems to be maintained by the guys who actively contributed to OpenELEC and for me it *seems* like the reason for the fork being created is that they wanted to push some improvements that weren't accepted in OpenELEC... but that's a guess and I don't know the story behind it, any part of it. I am actively watching that fork (and some other repos) to include any improvement that may be useful for us.

Thanks for the logs. I noticed that for the reboot when your settings were reset Kodi did not unload properly. I am wondering if that was because of some addons introducing delay or something else... anyway, I made a build with mount options back to stock OpenELEC. If you want, you can try this one (Jarvis build tomorrow): http://s805.eu/test/6.0.3.5-build1/

Kodi 17 build is not by me and it's not supported at all, it's only a preview that TheRealJohnGalt decided to share with us. If you want to downgrade to a lower major OpenELEC version, you should always do a clean install. For SD builds that would mean writing image to your SD card, for NAND - a clean flash using toothpick method.

I'm just about to try it, I'll get back to you soon.

kszaq OK I rebooted the box about 10 times with skin changes each time (not different skins just options etc), all hard-boots as the reboot from remote doesn't seem to work at all any more even the one reboot from remote that I managed to get hung, BUT the skin doesn't seem to suffer the reset problem anymore. Will do a few more test on the other functionality latter and let you know if there's any problems, fingers crossed!

will try the toothpick methode to lower build.

If you mean that you can't reboot by pressing power button on remote and then power the box again, this is intentional change: from the next version remote power button will suspend the box but you'll be still able to reboot/power it off via Kodi power menu. You can test it by yourself on the 6.0.3.5 test build.

And before someone tells me that he'd rather power off his box than put it into suspended state, you should know that these boxes can't power off completely: what power off does is it puts the box into suspended state and then reboots it at the moment it wakes up. And because I prefer the box to boot quickly, I made it suspend on power button. With some bootloaders it worked that way from the beginning, anyway.

Are you using Kodi Krypton as this has nothing to do with K's builds? Even if you're using Jarvis this is only in the Beta stage here so can't be guaranteed to work. And as K states on the front page MXQ boxes are only partially supported because there are so many boards. Basically try older versions, you could even try the test Jarvis build K posted up the page a bit.

EDIT: Sorry the Jarvis build is coming tomorrow! The test one up the page is 15.2

The suspend function using power button works fine, wifi and BluRay fine after resume, but if I select reboot from the power options in Kodi it just hangs. Not a problem for me as I have it on a remote power socket because of the hot USB sticks I don't like left on for days.

So don't get me wrong the new build seems great and even better when the Jarvis comes.
