I think i have found the issue; its a clone
One of the key difference i noticed was the ram is only 1 chip not split into 2 like I've seen in pictures.
Probably explains why it doesn't really show anything on screen after flashing.

Any ideas on how to get the hd18q build to work ?

You may want to open one and look for a version number on the mainboard, and post here. There are lots of different ALL BLACK MXQ's (see my posts above)

i just flashed my mxq all black with zip file hd18q it worked but I'm getting no sound. i have to unplug hdmi while the box is on and plug it back in then i will get sound. can any one help?

I actually think that it would be a great idea to have a comprehensive list of HD18Q versions, with what is working/not working for each one, link to stock ROM if available, etc.

There is currently one list in 4PDA, but it seems outdated/incomplete.

For instance, my board is labeled as S805_MXQ_V2.0_150415, which is not listed. Kszaq's HD18Q build works fine in my box except for the LED.

+1 on my side, I have 2 mxq with different boards and both don't have original firmware anywhere. To fix the remotes

I was wondering if one of this builds could work to update my SD card installation on MK808B plus.
At the moment I have not an available SD card to make experiment (I will buy tomorrow), but if it will not work, how difficult are the modification for MK808B plus starting from MXQ. It seems to me that the 2 platform are not so different, I could try to do if someone can point me to some article to build the toolchain (in Ubuntu).

flashed an all black mxq with hdq18 (realjohn version)like ive done several times before worked fine remote and wifi didnt work so flashed with the mxq one everything appeared to work fine wifi connected but when i got to add soursec says its not connected but it actually is anyone come across this

TheRealJohnGalt First, thanks for you hard work! Second, my only issue is the following: I execute Openelec via microsd card, device attached on the tv via hdmi, optical cable from tv to the 5.1 system (philips fidelio HTL9100, capable of AC3 & DTS decoding), passthrough checked in openelec. It decodes all the surround channels perfectly when the codec is AC3, but when the content is encoded in DTS I have to uncheck the option in order to be able to reproduce it (obviously in stereo). Hope the new version could fix this behaviour, anyway thanks for your effort!

One question: when i power off the box, the blue led stays on, and i will never go off. Any chance of fixing this? Or Maybe an option to disable the led, that would be even better!

I'm testing (on sdcard) your MXQ rom (OpenELEC-Amlogic.MXQ.arm-6.0-devel-20151127163356-r21676-gb9749b3) on my S85 box, it seems to run fine, much snapier than other roms i've tested so far.
But there's something i can't make to work, i'd like to override some keymaps to remove the ShutDown() on power button but putting my xml in /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymaps/ doesn't seem to work.
Has something changed in OE6 ? Sorry it's not really a rom feedback, i'm also looking openelec forums for an answer..
