After tinkering, I finally got the "Found Rockchip Mass Storage message, but no go from there. Has anyone had this problem and managed to fix it??

    TIA, Jay
No one that has a clue about this? In device manager in windows 7 (x64) the usb drives show up, including "ROCKCHIPS" device under "portable units" (I have a norwegian windows, forget what that section is called in english windows). On the one laptop (where i successfully flashed two UG802 units) I get "Found Rockchips USB Mass Storage" but I still get "Flash failed" immediately after clicking on it. On the other laptop, drives show up in device manager, including the ROCKCHIPS device, but I still just get "No found Rockchip" message in the flash tool. The only two differences between the two lappys is that I have flashed successfully on the first one as stated, and the second one most probably has USB3 ports (I have tried all ports on both laptops). I read somewhere that USB3 could be a problem, so I tried the BIOS trick I read about.

Now if everything works otherwise, what is the likelyhood of this device being a dud as far as the ability to flash goes??

As I said I have tried all ports on the laptops, all ports on the MX1 and have tried using different USB cables. I just dont get it

When you have pressed reboot to flash mode, check device manager again for new device. I think it´s called RK30. Install the drivers to that if it's in unknown state.

      Cheers.

Thanks but that's not the problem here I fear..pressing reboot to flash should reboot the device and THEN windows will want a driver, this doest happen and the flash failed message pops up IMMEDIATELY after pressing the button. I think my OTG port may just be f*cked up somehow..

So looks like I am stuck on the stock ROM...

I had the same problem with an A10 tablet and the solution was to find a pc with windows 7 but 32 bit! I my 64 bit it didn't work. So find a pc with other windows 7 32 bit or windows xp or win95 as qsecofr suggested.

I had a similar problem (flash mode failed). What you have to do is toggle the 'connect to pc' option (can't remeber the exact wording) in the settings menu. Do it a couple of times, waiting to hear the chime on windows which indicates hardware connected/disconnected each time. Then once your happy and it shows as connected under the flash tool, click reboot to flash. This should hopefully work.

              P.s. I did this on Windows 7 64 bit.

Well this maybe not a bug but intended by iMito. Anytime the MX1 is booted AND the OTG port is plugged into a PC, it will boot with USB storage turned on! What this means is on boot up you will not be able to see the internal SDcard or the External SDcard from within Android. On your PC you see the removable drives because on boot they are mounted to the PC not Android.
Now you can turn this OFF once booted. Go into settings and USB. You will see PC connection is grayed out.
                  1) Click it and it will then put the check box in "conneted". Odd it is OFF by defualt even though it is really connected to the PC.
                  2) Now turn it off and it will unmount the SDcards from your PC and you can now see them in Android.
HOWEVER... Realize next reboot, it will be on again.
In my opinion this should not work this way but at least you can turn it off once booted.
The other work around is to always hook up the USB cable to the back micro USB port not the OTG port.
The back port ONLY powers the unit. There is no data connection on this port for PC.
This solves that issue. But remember the back port will NEVER connect to a PC or allow ROM flashes.
Only the OTG port allows that.
                  ________________________
Regarding the OTG port, what if the OTG port is not connect to a PC? Currently I am using the rooted 11/19/12 firmware. I have a Logitech Pro 9000 webcam connected to the OTG port. Whenever I reboot the device, I have to go to setting -> USB to check "connect to PC" then uncheck it to make the device find the webcam.
Does this ROM fix this problem?

                  Thanks,

Flash the ROM without any issue today. It seems the Google Pinyin input Method was removed from the ROM. Bob, could you please verify?

                      Thanks,

Yes as part of debloat for most, I remove pinyin.apk.

I can give you APK if you like?

"Perdona loro perché non sanno quello che fanno"

Don't need to. Installed a input method apk from third party. The google Pinyin is not that good anyway. Thanks.

BTW, it seems I have some issue with webcam on Skype. When I was on the original firmware or the rooted 11/19 firmware. The quality of the video is not perfect, but it is OK and very stable. However since I flashed your ROM, when I Skype, the initial video quality was OK but after around 30 seconds, the video became very blur and a green strip showed up at the bottom of the video screen. I tried many times it kept happening. It seems the webcam driver is not very stable. What should I do to pin point to the root cause? I am pretty new to the Android system and don't know too much about the tools and configurations for troubleshooting. Could you please help me out? Skype is one of the main reason I bought the Android TV player.

                            Thank you.

                              Backup my apps ?

Are my apps installed completely lost after re-flashing the device ?

Yes - but use an app such as titanium backup to back them up, i use it on my phone, if you get the paid version it allows you to make a flashable zip of all your apps - works great on my phone, best check with somebody more knowledgeable if it will work with these sticks as well.
