What Bloatware Does ROM 1.4 Remove?

One mans bloatware is another mans gold. It would be nice to know what bloatware is being removed from the MX1 prior to making the decision to flash with the new ROM and what the removal of each bloatware App buys the end user in terms of memory space and performance. At this point I'm not having any real problems with the MX1 stock ROM, excepting that I need to reboot my router every couple days as the MAC address issue appears to impact even my wired connection. Other than that I'm a happy camper with an AnTuTu benchmark of 7645 and my internet speed running at slightly over the maximum allowed by my ISP, 30Mbps / 5Mbps.

          Re: NEW - iMito MX1 - Finless ROM 1.4 - Root, debloat, init.d support

Has anyone had problems with the imito not send signal to TV? I am having this problem before and after flashing this ROM. The imito works but it has to be disconnected from any tv for a few hours or so then pluged back to TV and boom it works again. Please any advice and help with my situation will be highly appreciated thanks in advance. Things I've tried already to remedy this is use a different wall plug and HDMI cables as well as installed the imito on different TVs.

sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, is there any way to remove the status bar on the MX1/2 when watching movies with MX player or others? So far I think only the default video player has automatically hidden it.

I am back with a new ROM for the iMito MX1
I am calling this 1.4 like all my first ROMs. It is made from the latest 11/19 ROM from Imito. This is the ROM that solves the changing MAC address problem.

              BUG NOTE:
Well this maybe not a bug but intended by iMito. Anytime the MX1 is booted AND the OTG port is plugged into a PC, it will boot with USB storage turned on! What this means is on boot up you will not be able to see the internal SDcard or the External SDcard from within Android. On your PC you see the removable drives because on boot they are mounted to the PC not Android.
Now you can turn this OFF once booted. Go into settings and USB. You will see PC connection is grayed out.
              1) Click it and it will then put the check box in "conneted". Odd it is OFF by defualt even though it is really connected to the PC.
              2) Now turn it off and it will unmount the SDcards from your PC and you can now see them in Android.
HOWEVER... Realize next reboot, it will be on again.
In my opinion this should not work this way but at least you can turn it off once booted.
The other work around is to always hook up the USB cable to the back micro USB port not the OTG port.
The back port ONLY powers the unit. There is no data connection on this port for PC.
This solves that issue. But remember the back port will NEVER connect to a PC or allow ROM flashes.
Only the OTG port allows that.

              Features in 1.4 ROM:

              1) Fully rooted with the latest SU and SUperUser.apk
              2) All GAPPs updated to latest. This includes the latest Play Store and GMS Core.
              3) Debloated of unusable APPs and junk.
              4) Cleaned up the file system so it is not fragmented! Basicly I used linux tune2fs when making the images.
              5) I added a reboot APP that will allow you to reboot the device from the Android UI. No more unplugging the unit!

              6) Full init.d support has been added! If you do not know what that is... ignore it.
Basically it allows you to install scripts that run at boot time.
If your interested, google search V6SuperCharger for a neat speed booster script.

              7) I added the Xbox Xpad.ko module to support Xbox controllers.
              8) I added md4 and cifs KO modules.

I did not touch wifi in the 1.4 ROM so it should be same as stock!

My next release which will be based on latest reliease from iMito will have a hide status bar. The latest release from them has that like my ug802 ROM.

I received my MX1 two days ago and successfully flashed it today, thanks Bob!

I ran into some issues, possibly related to the usb 3.0 as mentioned, or who knows what, but here's what happened and what I did, so maybe it will help others.

First, I don't know if the settings menu has changed since Bob wrote the readme, but it took me a bit to find all of the settings to change (i.e. there is no "TV tube icon"). Instead of "connect to computer", I found "connect to pc" by going to the USB settings under DEVICE. I found the "USB computer connection" menu under DEVICE, click on Storage, then go to the very top right corner of the screen and click on the 3 vertical dots, click on "USB computer connection", and there are the Mass Storage and Media Device MTP options. I guess these are the advanced options, but it's not self explanatory how to find them.

At first I had my laptop (with win7 x64) out by the TV to do this. The flash tool "found" the MX1, but repeatedly gave me "flash mode failed" error, no matter how many times I tried to switch the settings back and forth, rebooted the MX1 and the laptop, still error. So then I just unplugged the MX1 from the laptop and TV, came to my desktop (also win7 x64), plugged it into USB, (I had ROM 1.4 unzipped on desktop as well) tried "reboot to flash mode", and it worked. I installed the drivers and noticed in the Device Manager there was a new row "Class for rockusb devices > RK30 Device". I then unplugged the MX1 from the usb, rebooted the desktop, plugged in the MX1 to usb, clicked "reboot to flash mode" and got the "flash mode failed" error...

I noticed now in Device Manager that the row: "Class for rockusb devices > RK30 Device", was no longer there. Now if I went under Disk Drives: I found >rockchip_usb, >rockchip_usb. Two of the same entry. What I did at this point was right clicked each >rockchip_usb, and uninstalled them. Then I unplugged the MX1 from the usb and plugged it back in. "Reboot to flash mode" worked, and I installed the drivers again. Again, in Device Manger, it displayed the row: "Class for rockusb devices > RK30 Device". This time I did not reboot anything, I flashed the ROM, and everything went forward.

Thanks for the ROM and everyone's contributions/suggestions. I just found out about these devices a few days ago and am blown away at the capabilities vs. price. I recently got an overpriced "smart" blu ray player with wifi and apps, and now it seems like a joke. It seems I'll still have to stick to my Roku to get Hulu+, because I haven't seen any way to get that running.

Hey bob, will you be adding the 1080p patch to this kernel anytime soon

EDIT: Is anyone able to use touch emulation with sixaxis app? It says no touch device found. Bob, would it be possible to simulate a touch device?

                              EDIT 2:

Could you recompile a kernel with touchscreen support? I just want the device to think it has a touchscreen so that I could just touch emulation with sixaxis controller app

Here is a link for another tab on how to recompile with touchscreen support.

Another method could be to implement an idc file

                                Video playback

Just received my iMito MX1 today and started testing it out of the box. First thing I did was flashing Bob's firmware
Wifi seems to be stable (no major drops/blackouts), system's fast enough etc.
Here comes the big BUT: video playback of any mkv files (720p 600-900mb rips) is simply choppy. No out of sync issues, sound's nice and clear, but the bloody video lags every 10 seconds or so. I use different USB sticks (size 32-64GB FAT32/NTFS) connected to the full USB or OTG port. Didn't try stream, 'cause won't use it anyways.
Now I don't experience any of this while playing mp4, divx/avi files at all!
I also tried to have the stick plugged in straight in the HDMI port of the TV or using 2m long HDMI cable in which the unit is plugged in, but no success...

Just for a comparison, with the UG802 I have using Bob's latest firmware (1.7), playback of ANY video file is smooth (had slight out of sync issues, but sorted them out in BSplayer/MXplayer).

I wonder, what could be the problem here?
