I think I found why my recovery does not work on this. My Ramos is a AML8726-MX This is a AML8726-M3.

Thus the kernel inside my recovery wont boot.

So... next thing to try is ROM recovery from a AML8726-M3 that uses standard signing.

Anyone know where some ROM for this chip are?

Hmmmm try removing the file uImage from the sdcard. Leave uImage_cwm

See what that does.

The Ainol Novo 7 Tornado uses the 8726-M3 SoC, I had goofed around with ROMs / root methods for those so I'll see if I can find a recovery package again for them.

I found one. Ramos W13 (not pro). It is M3 processor. I am download it now and we will try again...

Contents of the file are a .zip, a factory_update_param.aml file, a uboot-wyst-a11.bin file, and a uImage_recovery file. Might be a good source since it's intended to root the set top box?

Also ozymandiaz, you need to get a SDcard. This proceedure will never work without one. You cnnot boot a alternate recovery from internal SDcard.

I got a microSD out of that elusive MP3 player so I'm getting ready to copy over the files now

Tried booting into recovery with microSD inserted and the files from the .zip in the root of it (formatted beforehand from the tablet). Booted into a weird color-washed screen but responded to power button and reset button. Just removed sdcard and booted normally to start the process over again.

Not working for me. It seems to get a little further now, but the display is all screwed up - mostly white but noisy. Maybe a display driver issue?

EDIT....

OK maybe screen is screwed up but if you can see if the volume buttons move anything around we maybe able to make it work by pressing butons in a ceratin order. e.g. you cant see the menu but it may setill work.

try it
On first boot it's on the reboot menu just press power or home buttons (I do not know what buttons you have) and see if the recovery reboots tha tablet. If it does the recovery is working we just cannot read the screen
