I would flash the MX1 ROM. I read comments on some dealextreme MK802s that they were shipping out UG007s, and the person had success with the imito MX1 rom.

Yeah, its works perfect. Only the resolution is not really sharp. Wifi and BT work! on this model!
Thanks man, any more advice? Some tweaks i could use

The stock ROM that i reverted to looks very vanilla AOSP. But the ROM my device (ug802-v2) came with had a bootloader screen that looked like the FREAKTAB log above with the android robot in the middle of the screen surrounded by 2 things that loooked like the same objects the words FREAK and TAB are in.

I wonder if the manufacturer put in a finless rom of say v1.4 or so. If so, i'd rather be on that than this AOSP ROM.

          Solution!

Ok, got 1.7 to take. I just had to change the kernal to the stock kernal from the earlier upload.

It may not be Finless kernal, but i got the ROM along with the hide away status bar.

Mine is ug802 v-2 (not II)

          PCB says MiniTV Box SW601_V0.1
          date 20121018

So if you have this, stock kernal with finless 1.7 will work.

Really nice. I have the same device. What kernel did you use?

Could you tell us how did you do that? If extra files needed, could you share them with us?
                Thank you in advance!

I think he just grabbed the kernel.img from the stock v2 and flashed that instead. The problem with that it it's the stock kernel and not finless's kernel. I am in the same boat as him.

                      UG802 V1 rev 2

Alright so after a few weeks of testing with finless 1.7 and my UG802 V1 rev 2 (no reset button and PCB text says T002 V2 -http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...ll=1#post49058) I am having issues with Wifi.

I find that wifi becomes unreliable after a while. A reboot sometimes fixes the problem, but then wifi eventually goes down again and refuses to come back up (and I have to reboot - but often doesnt work). This is strange since during the first week of use I would only experience the occasional connection drop, and then it would be able to renegotiate a connection immediately. There seems to be some problem with the wpa_supplicant (here is an excerpt):

Try to get the antenna out of the chassis. The PSU makes a LOT of noise and it makes WiFi unstable. Try another PSU if you have one phone charger with 1A output for example

Yeah I've noticed when I switched to a different PSU I could stream youtube without pauses. I will flash 1.7 and see what's up. Thanks.

Update: wifi doesn't work with 1.7 and new psu.

According to the mfg spec sheet for the UG802's Wifi module :

It works best (150mbps) with the following parameters:

                            Wireless - N Band
                            Frequency - 2.4 GHz
                            Bandwidth set at 40MHz

When I set my access point with these parameters my WiFi was solid. You can also use WiFi Analyzer:

to see if you can set the channel to one of least interference with other signals around you. It shows signal strength as well so you can optimize your AP placement.

                            Hope that helps..

YES! That was indeed the problem. It was also affecting my 2.4 ghz wireless keybd/mouse reception also making it difficult to control at times. However, I am now having issues with the device powering down when put under some stress. Note that it powers down, and does not reboot until i unplug and replug the cable.

I am using a powered USB hub to power the device, and the PS is rated at 2.1mA, so I am guessing its ok in terms adequate power. I could try lowering the clockspeed on the device (I am using the 1200 ghz 1080p o/c kernel) but then I won't know if the real issue is heat or lack of power (when I touch it after powering down, its quite hot). I guess I'll try running with the case off, and maybe even try to find a heat sink to test it out.

We should probably add a sticky warning about the horrible batch of PSUs that everyone is getting. I just hope the iMito MX2 I ordered from geekbuying doesn't have the same one

                              Thanks for the info!

Before the PSU switch did your wifi not work 1.7? Mine didn't even turn on, for example clicking the three dot menu expansion button under wifi had scan greyed out.
