Terrific support structure this mob has. Still no contact since 25/05/2016.Inphic shows as being online here a week ago, and Inphic Jim shows as last online today, 16 mins ago. I guess they must have found another model or part to test, and forgotten about this one I suppose?

Just found this forum, I also own a I5, purchased it from aliexpress end of last year.
Problem with my box is that the screen is blanked once every 20 seconds or so, just as if I switched the channel, and immediately went back.
I updated the box to the latest version, I downloaded a FW OTA app somewhere, and it now says that I have the latest FW of December 2015.
Any pointers to what I should do to get this screen blanking to stop?
Last edited by supahfly; 17 June 2016, 08:37. Reason: Addition: Also I installed Kodi, which seems to hang (even after the latest FW upgrades)

Hi supahfly, Here is the newest firmware :- http://www.inphic.com/downloads/firm...-spot-i5-image
You will have to use the USB Burn Tool to install it.:- http://www.inphic.com/downloads/tool...8-burning-tool
Here is how to use it:- http://inphic.com/faq/howto/burning/spot-i5
I did have problems with my i5 with blanking out also and I found that the power supply was letting noise through from the mains supply so i put it through a UPS supply and all worked OK.
                    Hope this helps.
                    Cheers

Thanks will try that when I get home. So flashing the new FW will not stop the screen blanking? What do you mean "put it through a UPS supply?" How exactly do you do that?

He means an Uninterruptable Power Supply. It offers the adapter clean and steady A/C power. Likely removes voltage spikes and voltage sags.
I guess the i5, like many digital devices, is sensitive to inconsistent power.

Thank You RISCy Dude that is what I should have said.
supahfly when i was using my i5 I dont think the new firmware helped with the blanking out but the Uninterrupted Power Supply because of the spike filtering it had in it as RISCy Dude pointed out.
If you have another 5volt 2amp power pack try it too.
I did find that the new firmware worked well with Kodi 16.
Not to sure about Kodi 16.1 because I only use my i7 now.
Hope all goes well for you.
                          Cheers

Thanks for the help guys, but as some developers from inphic are reading this they should be sending us stable power supplies in stead of crappy ones ...
Now it seems I have to buy a special Power Supply just for this crappy box.

supahfly most manufactures use these type of supplies because in most cases they work ok but if you are like me in an area with noise and spikes on you mains power it can be hard to suppress.
If it is mains power noise that is your problem I would be looking at a good quality power filter.
Something like this one :- http://www.altronics.com.au/p/p8155-...d-power-board/
All my electronic run though a 2kw UPS due to the bad mains power out in the country were I live.
                              Cheers

I just flashed ti succesfully with the latest FW on the site.
I still have freezes on Kodi, or even randomly now when I am for eg. opening up netflix.
So how do I proceed from here, I saw that the R&D guys send someone another PCB board, can I get that too?
Otherwise this just might have been the worst 25$ spent in my life.
