    OK back again and ready... I think I may have it this time.
    The point of this test is to see if I can increase SYSTEM to be large enough to accept a EXT3 file system.
    So download this ZIP file and please make sure to do things like before.

    Use the TEST1 kit that flashed and worked.

    Replace from this ZIP file the parameter file into the good flash kit in /image. Parameter file goes in /image. Again PLEASE make sure you replace the exiting file!!! A mistake here and it will not work!
    Then at the root of the folder for the good flash kit, replace the settings.ini file with the one from this ZIP file.

    This really should work this time.

    To make sure you have in fact replaced the files, the parameter file used by the flash tool should say this:
    Note the change in size for system and offsets from that point on!
    You can open either of these files in Windows Notepad BUT DO NOT save them! Notepad will hose them as they use linux line endings!!!!

    The new settings.ini should say this:
    The offsets should match the parameter file!

    Parameter_Offset=0x00000000
    Misc_Offset=0x00002000
    Kernel_Offset=0x00004000
    Boot_Offset=0x00008000
    Recovery_Offset=0x0000A000
    System_Offset=0x0000E000
    Backup_Offset=0x0008E000


    Flash the entire ROM erasing IDB and clicking the loader.

        Great... Can't wait to hear the results. I hope it is positive as if not, I am gettings stumped as how to get full root.

        But my Wife is home and I gotta eat. She has a TV show to watch tonight and with her Father dieing last Friday, I need to keep her good company. So I may not be back online tonight.

            MrShoe... AWESOME MAN! Thats farther than I got with the last person testing a RK28 root for me! This actually is good news!

            Ready to test more tonight please?

            This next setup will be to see if we can increase user app space. So once again it will be a parameter file BUT no change to settings.ini this time.

            So please go into your current tablet and into settings and select "storage settings".
            At the bottom should be "Internal Storage". For you it should lit maybe about 255mb or something around there depending on how many apps you have installed. It will be less if you have installed apps.

            Please confirm that and tell me what you have.

            Next test... increase that number to 1gb.

              MrShoe... here is the new parameter file.

              Like every time before. Please use the working ROM kit. Keep the settings.ini from last night. Replace the parameter file in /image with this new one.

              Reflash erasing IDB (this is a must). Check the loader box. etc.

              So try this new parameter file. If all goes well we are very much on our way.

                I only have some music files on an SD that is not currently in the unit.

                    Again, everything boot fine.

                      Here is a new paremeter file. I want to get you to 1gb or close to it. Why it is double what RK29 is I do not know!

                      Do the same with this new parameter file and tell me the MID storage space! Remember you must eraseIDB and reflash while I make these structural changes!

                            That my friend is good news! We are making good progress. See you after church and be ready... this will be a full ROM flash next test.

                            System will now change from CRAMFS to ext3. This will tell us 100% if we ever get full root. If this does not work... well.... I will be dissapointed! I expect it to work!

                              OK so this is the big "deal"... time to find out if we can go to ext3.

                              This ROM has:
                              1) The confirmed changes we made to parameter file and tested! Should be no different than before.
                              2) The confirmed changes to settings.ini Again should be the same as before.
                              3) Now system.img is much larger and is ext3 file system
                              4) To support mounting system.img, boot.img has been changed and I edited init.rc to mount /system as ext3 instead of cramfs. Again this is a major change! This right here is the "key" to the kingdom!

                              This is like the major change! If this does not work I still have some ideas to try BUT... I think this should work!

                              It is still not rooted!!!!! We just want to see if we can boot a system.ing as ext3.

                              This is a NEW ROM with the above incorporated.
                              This time you will toss out everything you have done before (save it somewhere).

                              Unzip this ROM KIT and as usual run the flash tool. Erase IDB and check the loader box.

                              I will be awaiting your great testing response! Again... THANK YOU for your willingness to test this hard! No one else with rk28 was willing to work this hard with me and they all dropped out! But,,,, they had $150 tablet! I guess having a $60 crapper makes it easier

                                Can you see how bad I want a rooted Android audio player, lol....
                                at the price I had a hard time taking it back. It might cost more in gas just to get there.
