Server error "unable to establish a good connection" is normal. Well as normal as a Sunday goes! Especially today while everyone is pounding the server. Try again later it should work!

Well I am not sure what else to do. I guess I will put the new Gooogle Play stroe with the other froyo files and see if that works. If not it's kinda hard at this point to figure out why the market will not talk to the servers. Seems like something is blocking it possibly on your network or something?

Play/Market aside, what ROM-wise do you want me to load and test.
I really did not do much with test11, test12 or test13 to give feedback.Comment

ROM 13 is the latest which "should" provide write access to /system and Google Market (older version but it should connect and update). So continue to test 13 and I will see if I can update google play in test 14.
However, at this point, I have just about gone as far as I can. I have yet to find "known working" google play Store files for Froyo even though Google says they are generic for Froyo 2.2.x and above. So Not sure what to do next

Mrshoe, I have to tell you... I have a million things in the kitchen right now and I honestly just do not have more time on perfecting this 4300. We got you rooted and all that was needed I think?
I cant spend more time on getting Google Play to work for you now. Sorry. I am just out of time and more things are coming up by the day.
Only question I have is for me to release a ROM which one are you using and is the best out of the bunch?

Hiya! I've been following this thread some, I too have a PTAB 4300. I have recently set up tools and such to tinker around with this thing. Awesome job at least getting us this far. However, I can't seem to download the stock Update.img that was posted several pages back. I'd be so grateful to have access to that. Thank you ahead of time!Comment

Well I have it rooted.
Let me summarize the TEST roms I have available that work:
TEST9 - This is a semi-rooted ROM with SU and SuperUser.apk. You will get SU permissions and TItanium backup etc will work now. However /system is still cramfs and read only thus the term semi-rooted. No Gplay installed

TEST11 - Same as TEST9 but Gplay market files are pre-installed. MrShoe said Gplay just force closes. Maybe someone can test again please.

TEST12 - This is my first attempt at a RW /system using AUFS like other RK28 ROMS that give write access to /system. It also has Gplay files installed. YES PLEASE... test this and see if you can get Gplay working with your account. Also please let me know if in fact /system can be written too!

TEST13 - Since Mrshoe seemed to not be able to use Gplay I took a Froyo ROM from XDA and pulled out known working Google Market files. These are older market files but should work and at some point it should auto upgrade you to Gplay. Again Mrshoe seemd to not be able to get the market working? Again, YES please let me know if in fact /system can be written too!

So thats where I left off. We have a rooted ROM with write access to /system using aufs with test 12 or 13. If you dont care about write access to /system TEST9 is a stock semi-rooted ROM with SU and superuser and is stable. You maybe able to install the market manually?

PTAB4300 w/ Market
I just stumbled across this thread and haven't read the entire thing yet - just the last few posts, really. I have a PTAB4300 as well and manually put Market on it shortly before Google switched to Play. It has never upgraded itself or even mentioned Play, but it still seems to work so I think Google's still supporting older devices using Market. Maybe you wanna stick to putting market on there instead of Play, Bob?
I had given up on this device and was ready to write off the $60 (or resell it), but if you can make it more useful then I'm all for it (personally I'd like to see ad-hoc network support). As it stands, it's just used for games (AB - natch, among others) I'll try to remember to poke back into this thread and see if I can help.Comment
