Anyone try static IP in Ethernet?

Doing more testing with JW_Tech's file and it is a worthwhile upgrade. I have been watching standard definition TV reccordings in mpeg2 format 480p, for a couple of hours, non-Dolby audio, and no reboots. Playing some HD TV recordings (720P) with Dolby Digital causes a system reboot after a minute or so. This is with Ethernet connected and media stored on a WD MyCloud NAS.

Also, the network IP adddress stays the same, even with a new installation.

This box is progressing very well, with the firmware improvements. With the original firmware, it was junk. Been uusing this box for a few hours today.

Narrows down some of the issues for re booting as well. Hope to have box next week i want to play with new device the qbox got repoed by Girlfriend. I know better then to touch it now...😁

Always good to hear on a budget box. Maybe your findings will help narrow down the reboot issue solution. Even though the reboot bug has not been killed, a seemingly constant stream of updates bodes well for its immediate future. Thanks for the feedback clarkss12, I will try his tonight.

The update JW_Tech linked has a couple of additional apps onboard. One is GOLive Streaming app, I removed it. The other is a remote app for your phone, Wukong Remote. Works OK, but has more permissions than I like, so that was removed too.

Still would like to know why the ethernet was causing the Crash/Reset and not WiFi, out of interest only

Sounds like conflict in video settings because on on hd after 5 minutes. Thats why i want to test split roms and see what is goofy on this ethernet.

According to clarkss12, the reboots on Eth still exist, at least when playing HD content, but he did not see it playing SD files from his local NAS over Eth. I do not know if that represents a change or not. I'm just glad to see he seems to have gotten past spilling coffee on it.

Thats why i tried it. Now i know why so many complsin re shipping pay the 6 bucks ship with real tracking numbers. Much better in long run but each to thier own. I figgered you and clark would have got it fixed by the time i got mine😠

I spent all last night playing with this box and it seems to be healing itself. I don't recall a single reboot while playing different file formats inside of and outside of Kodi. I was testing the different codecs to see which problem they causes. I tried different combinations of enabling and disabling the RK codec and the Media codec.

With the default settings, RKcodec, Mediacodec, and Mediacodec (surface) enabled, all my 1080P videos with different codecs played very well with HD audio. However, my live TV streams would not show any video, or even go to the "video" screen, but the audio played. By disabling the RKcodec, my live TV streams played flawlessly, both 720P and interlaced 1080i. By disabling the RKcodec, most of my BlueRay rips would play very well, except those encoded with VC1, would no longer play well at all.

So, the RKcodec is very beneficial for excellent video presentation, but it will kill live TV streams in mpeg2 TS streams.

With the latest firmware update, the power up and down does not work any more, either using the stock remote or the on screen power button. The blue light is light but nothing on the screen, have to pull the power plug and restart it.
