I have now had time to play with this rom a little bit more over the last few days and I was a little confused why things were behaving sluggish so I decided to investigate a bit.
I make a rom for the Transformer Prime which is also a quad core but by default a lower clock speed and that was performing far better.
I loaded up Trickster and seen that the processors are spending 95 percent of their time on 312mhz because of the "ondemand" governor setting which is default and that just makes the machine feel sluggish and it's not as if we are worried about battery life.
I went to performance and changed the governor to "Interactive" and the scheduler to "ROW" instead of "noop" (which is what I have set as default in my roms kernel) and the machine seems a lot more reactive and is scaling the cpu a lot better.
The only down side to this is that the machine has to fully load before it applies the "set on boot" option for the performance setting so the machine spends all that time loading on 312mhz.
Whoever made the kernels that are included in 2.04 is there any chance please that the defaults could be changed to "Interactive", "ROW" so that it is more responsive while booting also?
If you do not want to change them is there any chance I could get the source code for them to compile for my own use.
Thanks very much.To Infinity and Beyond.... XBMC

Gormar ,Now i am check the "sleep mode" better( waited a little longer),My K-R42 operates like yours, starts with ~30 seconds, without any clicks on the remote, usb disk mode goes to "stand by" and that's good, but does not come out of there because the usb fall off,ir remote control only works, nothing helps, only reset
P.S. disconnecting and connecting from USB doesn't help too , only rebootk-r42 Board TN-BX09_V.2.1 2013/05/31 ,wifi RTL8188ETV,
rom 1.0.4 (kitkat) old revision Wasser

I have had my device for about 3 days and finally got around to testing your 2.04 rom today and it has been going well except for one or two random reboots.
I noticed when coming from the stock rom that the "next track" and "previous track" wasn't working any more on the remote and when I checked others I seen that the four colored buttons were doing nothing and the bottom left button wasn't working either.
I am using this remote.
If anyone else has the same problem I edited the rkxx-remotectl.kl file in system/usr/keylayout to fix most of the buttons.
Here is the edited file that I am using. http://flumpster.lolcakes.com/android/rkxx-remotectl.kl.
I would rename your original one to rkxx-remotectl.old in case you want to revert.
The "next track" and "previous track" buttons now work for me. The bottom left button (1/A/a) now does space like it used to on stock.
The blue and the yellow buttons can not be reprogrammed at all with this rom but I set the red button to "Play/Pause" and the green button to "Stop".
Hope it helps someone else out and if it has been posted before I apologize, I am new to these forums but have my own rom on XDA.
Thanks again for the rom.
what i do now, is connect a wired mouse to the device, select the movie i want and then start it and pull out the mouse. Then the rest i can control with the remote..
Hope someone has the same problem with netflix?!

Slowness is gone now!
Hi all,
Well i have tried all the things you guyz all gave me to try. And i have a conclusion at the moment. That the Tronsmart Airmouse is the problem with the delays..
I disconnected all usb devices from the K-R42 device, i booted it and i connected a wired usb mouse to it.
What i did, what i tried.. i didn't get any delays anymore! Yipieeee!!
So, my conclusion is that the firmware IS great! ( I never doubted that in the first place Lewy20041!) But i had to find out what causing all the irritating delays..
Well.. the only thingy and problem i still has, is that i really wish the new XBMC 13 will be stable. And the remote control has to work for my Netflix, see my earlier post..
keep up the great work guyz!! (Not only Lewy20041 ofcoarse..)

Well mine arrived today and I installed 2.04 to give it a whirl.
It works very well on the whole and the best version of XBMC that I could find so far is xbmcGothamAlpha8_LibMediaHackEdition.
I liked the option for auto hiding the status bar but could not figure out a way to get it back long enough to use it as it seems to jump up and down too quickly.
I found an issue with CWM.
I backed up the ROM to my external SD card and then performed a restore.
After waiting for around 3 minutes for it to appear to do anything, the process seemed to go well but on reboot, although the icons for new apps that I had installed were on the desktop, clicking them revealed that none were being shown as installed, so it appeared that party of the data image did not restore.
To eliminate any kind of corruption with the CWM backup, I copied it to the internal SD card and ran the same restore from there.
Again it took around 3 minutes for anything to happen but this time the restore worked correctly.
I see that this version of CWM carries out individual full backups each time and on another device I had, there was an updated version of CWM that essentially performed incremental/differential backups, which reduces the size of each subsequent run, so if this is an option for this ROM then that would be great.
Had a couple of crashes, mostly associated with XBMC when applying addons but on the whole I am liking 2.04 very much. More testing to come.
Found a couple more issues.
I plugged in a 64Gb USB flash drive via the OTG port and whilst it mounted, as soon as the stick was connected, messages came up on the screen to say that the internal flash was blanked and that the SD card was now safe to remove.
Rebooting at this point, I didn't get either messages on start-up with the stick inserted.
I then tried plugging in 3 portable hard drives and none were even recognised in any way, shape or form, with one of them clicking away, so that would seem to indicate that that there is not enough power available to allow them.
I then plugged a powered USB hub into the OTG and plugged the hard drives in but got the same two messages, followed by a third to say that the SD car had been removed.
On rebooting with a drive still connected, it still could not be seen. although none of the other messages appeared.
I found this very strange as my rather more modest MK809ii stick never had an issue with reading sticks or unpowered drives and I'm using the same OTG cable and hub that I used with that.
I shall boot up with the stock ROM tomorrow to see if it is replicated there.Last edited by bluesmanuk; 07 October 2013, 22:30.R-TV BOX S10, Beebox N3150, Chuwi Hibox, Nvidia Shield, A95X Max

Errors
Hello Wasser,
I thought there were two things that looked strange to Me ...
Inet6 ??? Must units use IPV4 NOT IPV6
I am no android expert But is Inet6 the same as IPV6 ??
and the error count ... Seem really high ??
My unit reboots for no reason about 2 or 3 times every 9 hours ...(maybe the error count is getting to high and causing a overflow math error ??)
I thought something Might Be wrong ...
But My network Access seems just fine ... I have no issues access my network share ...
Please note I am NOT over clocking ... I am using 2.0.4 with default settings...
Do You know how to Fix the issue ??? Is there something I can Change ?? to test ??

Hello Wasser,
Are You going to Help Rebuild the kernal to work with the NEW Wifi/bluetooth Chip used in the
T-R42 System as I have one and am hoping to get a new firmware version that works with the
player ... as the current version does not... When the wifi errors it kills all networking both the wired ethernet and the wifi/bluetooth ...
Thanks In advance for all of Your hard work ...

Solved the issue with external hard/flash drives.
The supplied ac adapter was rated at 5v/2a.
I dug around and found an old ac adapter that I had that was rated at 5v/2.8a and that enables all of my external drives to work without issue.
Carried out more testing with CWM and out of 5 backups to external class 10 SD card, 3 of the restores worked perfectly when restoring from external and all 5 worked when doing so from internal, after copying the backup from the external card prior to restoring.
Time taken for restores to spring into action was varied. Some started immediately and others waited a few minutes.R-TV BOX S10, Beebox N3150, Chuwi Hibox, Nvidia Shield, A95X Max
