Posted on XDA, just a summary here

Installed 2.0.4 on my CS918.

Comments
* Mac address is different on every boot (Ethernet)
* Ethernet is not detected for a lot of apps (Blitz, Telstra, memo) and asks for Wifi
* Standby indicator light isn't red
* /sdcard is not mounted on some reboots
* Xbox wireless controller X doesn't work reliably
* Would be great if controller support was same as Nvidia Shield (Right stick mouse), A for open B, Back etc.


The only attached device is a USB HD (1TB) formatted with NTFS

I installed only wasser`s kernel on 2.0.3 with AV out support and its working but not smooth, i tried on LG 1080p plasma (I will try tomorrow on other TV)

to: lewy20041 - after intalling only kernel I have very big dpi value, how can I change it in your rom?

Tried on same TV one more time - better then first time, so I think with TV out is everything ok in last kernel.

wasser i just get a hold of new kernels which are probably based on new rockchip sources.
thanks to user pablo11 who posted latest firmware for ugoos.
i asked bob and he pached the kernel to 1080p for me.
playback quality on this kernels is much much better without the need of vsync fix.
just the firmware needed some changes to adopt it.
i will still get users a choice eather of use your kernels or this new ones but the default one will be new stock kernels.

edit: only downside i found is remote not working as it should
and nfs is working but when you play a video with stock player you will get gray lines and system frezze, but mx player in HW+ mode is working greate and video quality is gorgus!!!:"

found a way to use wasser kernels but nfs bug still is there;p

where can i download the latest Ugoos rom and patched 1080p kernel?
The Last Ugoos stock rom and your/Riley mod worked out of the box on my Exoon Power Pro (cx-921), except the remote did strange things. I would like to test and report back!

what can i do? i miss my k-r42....
(when i try to turn it on it's in a boot loop....)

FIXED LAN MAC address

Hello Gormar,
Is there a way to Find out what the Real Mac address of my player is ???

It isn't because there is no REAL LAN MAC address associated with this device as well serial number. To cut cost Kingnovel wasn't registered by IEEE and hasn't get OUI (Organization Unique Identifier) which will cost at least 1,885$ therefor they can not assign MAC LAN address to their devices. The same thing applies to RockChip which has VMAC hardware build into its processors but doesn't assign any MAC addresses because it is final manufacturer responsibility.
Originally I thought that MAC address is associated with PHY LAN hardware communicating with RK3188 by RMII but finally I realize that it wasn't such case. Quite different story is with WLAN chip made by Realtek because it contains MAC as well PHY in one package connected to CPU through USB.

Fortunately we can have fixed LAN MAC address. It require to set one or even both kernel variables: CONFIG_ETH_MAC_FROM_IDB or CONFIG_ETH_MAC_FROM_WIFI_MAC.
First will generate ARC VMAC ETH address from NAND SN Sector Info (not exactly sure what SN stands for: Serial Number?) last 6 bytes and should work "out of the box".
Second method require creation of file containing LAN MAC adress: /data/misc/wifi/wlan_mac in common hex format: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx. Only Least Significant Bit in MAC address should be zeroed therefor first octet should be masked with bit AND 0xFE. In random MAC generation there is also second LSB set which signifies local assignment (OR MASK 0x02).

I found this info on my own "digging" through kernel source from leolas GIT hub but there is also confirmation that it works. At least in Minix X5 (RK3066).

I was able to make the 01SETETH0 file and it works but I am NOT sure how to get the correct real mac ... that is if there is one ... ???

Are you saying there is NOT a Real Mac Address built into the Ethernet chip ?

I am NOT sure I understand this one ...

Any step by step help would be greatly appreciated

I'm almost 100% sure. I lost half a day searching for metod to read it from for example eFuse memory but probably there is nothing of this sort. It isn't by chance that stock firmware has exact same issue.

Which stock remote do you have? I'm not kidding. There are at least two version.

After last kernel RKRemote driver update (HFW v1.2.2 and newer) fully functional i the one with numerical keyboard. That with almost exclusively multimedia control keys is considered to be uncooperative.


@lewy20041. To support all key on numerical keyboard stock remote control you should change some Scan Codes and Key Codes in rkxx_remote.kl file. I personaly changed five assignments but four is enouth. This applies to colored "function" butons:


key 398 MEDIA_PLAY_PAUSE
key 399 ENVELOPE
key 400 EXPLORE
key 401 APP_SWITCH


They were "called" PROGRAMABLE_RED, _GREEN and so on.
