Yes check and verify drivers properly installed run the tool in admin as well try a lower version of the tool or another pc to flash it. I find that with continuel fails its usb connection/drivers/Wrong or corrupt firmware/switching to another pc may work or change usb cable if its starting should keep going unless nan damaged. Lots of possible causes so dont give up yet
Many devices now mk902ii/Shield/Mk68 /Ugoos/neox5/minix5 (yes they still work lol) mk80 no it doesnt work lol.

Have you tried the hard reset button?

Apart from widevine lvl 1 support, what else is required to get Netflix to work for ATV? Is approval from Netflix required as well? Can the Widevine lvl 1 cert from the Mi Box be used since it supports Netflix?

Well, if someone leaked the L1 Widevine private keys for the Mi Box, it would be possible to do just that. However, the hardware is designed to protect anyone from reading those keys from the retail hardware. (Private keys can be written, but not read thanks to specialized crypto engine in the Amlogic SoC....just like with a smart card or SIM. That's how they remain secure from hacking.)

Now, enabling SD support in the Android TV is much more feasible. It's really just a matter of tracing the execution and bypassing the hardware checks by editing the apk's code in smali. I simply haven't had the time to do that yet, but I'm sure that someone is working on it. The downside to this approach is that you end up with a hacked version of the app which may be replaced when upgraded by the Google Play Store.

Rather than creating a hacked app would it be possible to spoof an approved device, like a Mi Box, by editing build.prop to enable SD Netflix? Been a while since I played with build.prop but I sort of recall doing something like this with a different box.

Possibly, but right now the Android TV version of Netflix still has issues playing on the Mi Box.

I listed the Mi box as just an example. In my build.prop editing days I was using Nexus Player but as you know the device chosen could be whatever you want as long as it works.

                      Hi to everyone!
I have read all posts but I don't find an "How to" for install ROM on my MINI M8S II.
Guest and @professeur83: Can you explain me how to install ROM?
I don't understand if I have to flash ROM with original flash program (now I don't remember program's name) or if I have to proceed from TWRP.
In this second case i think that a "guide/list/little how to" for install TWRP is appreciated.
                      Thanks so much,
                      Andrea

There are links on the original post with instructions on how to use Amlogic's USB Burning Tool or BootcardMaker to flash a burn package (.img file). For the initial install, you should flash the burn package so that you start with a clean slate. (Unfortunately, it does mean a data wipe.) For incremental builds that follow, you should be able to enter TWRP (type "reboot recovery" in Terminal Emulator), hit Install, select source, and select the OTA update (.zip file) from there. Pretty simple stuff.

                          Hello !
First, let me thank you for your job, it's really great to be able to install Android TV of all these cheap boxes !

I just have a stupid question, on your description you wrote "All updates are signed, and so can be installed in the Update & Backup app"
That's mean I doesn't have to use USB Burning tool and connect the Mini III II box on my PC, and simply copy the IMG file on my SD card ?

                          Thanks !

The .img file is an Amlogic burn package, which contains images of ALL the important partitions, crypto keys and the partition map. They use it at the factory to preload everything that you'll need, but it's not the same as an .img file that's an image of a single partition. (Unfortunately, they use the same file extension, which is confusing.) With the burn package, you can use USB Burning Tool with a USB OTG cable or use BootcardMaker to prepare an SD card, but both will do a data wipe.

The OTA update (.zip file) is designed for over-the-air updates and contains bootloader, boot and system partitions...not the recovery partition, crypto keys or partition map. This can be installed by booting into the recovery partition (either TWRP or the stock Android recovery) or by using the Update & Backup app (which will subsequently hand off to the recovery partition to install). The stock recovery requires any updates it installs to be signed, but TWRP doesn't. The OTA update has the advantage of not requiring a data wipe, but you can still opt to do it yourself by checking the boxes in the U&B app or by selecting the factory data wipe commands in recovery.
