Profile L5.1 heavily loads RK3399 (load CPU up to 99%). You need:
- good power supply so that there is no voltage drop;
- improve cooling CPU;
- optimize OS (disable/remove unnecessary sys. applications);
- change RK3399 to Nvidia Shield.



Re-encode degrades the image, especially x263.
4k is not for this.

P.S. x264 10-bit L5.1 plays only in SW (software, with frame skips)
can the same thing with x264 8-bit L5.1 [no hardware support (?)]

Nvidia Shield is the Rolls Royce for the Android TV Boxes, wanted to spend a little less money and bought the H96 Max, thought it was a better option than the H96 Pro.
My option is conversion, which program should I use (prefere freeware) and which option in it to get best possible 4K experience?

I'm having a problem with these boxes. I just can't watch H.265 live channels on my IPTV list!
I had a Mecool BB2 Pro and couldn't run those channels.

Now I've bought a H96 Max and still no success. I can get only sound and no image. Sometimes it even freeze and I have to unplug the power cord to reset.

What could be done? This box can play even 4K60 videos and it just can't play those 1080P H265 live channels!

I've tried to use Perfect Player and ProgTV with different codecs, no success.

Boxes that I know for sure that can run those channels: Scishion v88 and Tanix TX3 Mini (a much weaker box than the H96Max)

I know Kodi 18 is recommended for PVR since it had a lot of fixes compared to Kodi 17.
On Android, did you try to set your screen resolution to 1080p@30hz in the Android Settings before running Kodi?

But are you sure that I'd be able to play only via Kodi?
It is not possible to run via Perfect Player or ProgTV?

If so, why some boxes lower in specs are able to play via those apps without any problems?

Just trying to understand what is happening. =/

Well, anyway, just tested with Kodi 18 last build and no success.
The box plays the channel with perfect sound but a frozen image frame every 3 sec untill the box is frozen completly and I have to pull the power cord.

PS: I can run these channels just fine using SSIPTV on my Samsung smart.

Can you test a 1080p@30hz sample video downloaded not a stream just to check if it has the same behavior?
Then also try FTMC or RKMC with RKCodec enabled instead of Kodi 18 for the live streams.

Did the test, no success.
I can play a downloaded 1080p@30hz just fine, but not these streams.

Tested with FTMC and RKCodec, same thing.

Could it be power related? I've read that this power supply is very weak.

If it's working nowhere it might be a power problem.
Try a genuine 3A power adaptor.

There were lots of PVR addon problems in Kodi 17/18 but I think most of it was fixed already.
If you know how to get a Kodi log, enable all debugging options, ffmpeg, video, audio in the settings and post a full log to pastebin or upload the log file.
Maybe something there can tell why there is a problem.
But if normal files can play with the current power adaptor, I'm not 100% sure a new power adaptor will fix it.
It then might be a big stock firmware bug.

I see.

I don't think that is related to RK3399 nor firmware. As I said before, I had a Mecool BB2 Pro and couldn't run either.
The problem seems to be related to Mali 820, 830 and 860, as I've read on the internet.

Weaker boxes with Mali 450 (S905W) or PowerVR (RK3368) graphics can run these channels with no problems, like the Tanix TX3 Mini and Scischion V99.

Hello!

Just got a 5v 5A new power supply and no change! =/

can someone help me please.....i did the firmware update on my h96 max i use the latest freaktab firmware i used file tools to do the flash everything works perfect except when i try and shut the box off all it does is restart the box every now and then itll shut off when i try but 9 out of 10 times it just restarts. i chose option restore when flash i tried flashing again and still same problem other then this problem its perfect any ideas
