When I receive my new "L", I will be running some temp test, first thing. Then I will remove the top, and run temp test again, if it stays below 170 F, I will drill holes in the top and use it that way. With the waves in the top, it looks like it came from the factory with those vent holes I will be drilling.

If you drill holes the dust wil come in and is not good either for motherboard it can ignite

I can't find Playback Settings inside Android Settings like in M8S Pro or M8S Pro+. I'm talking about enabling “HDMI self adaptation”. Does M8S Pro L have this option or not?

Yes, VideoStrong seems to have dropped it. Not sure why.

It really doesn't cause problems with dust collecting, except more heat build up. I have had electronics that were covered in dust, but did not affect the operation at all. If you have any device that has built in fans, the insides of the devices will be covered in dust and other debris. Check your Wii, Xbox or PS3, you might be amazed at how they still work.

Had a similar problem with buffering and some of my live tv channels had stutter video (audio was ok). I tested Kodi 17.x, SMPC 17 and Perfect Player - all of them had these problems . Now i'm using SMPC 16 (form Playstore) with active Amcodec and Mediacodec (without Surface Codec) and IPTV Simple Client. Remedy for buffering problem was a change resolution form 1920x1080 60p to 1920x1080 50p.

Do you have problem with deinterlacing when using live tv app? I see some kind of blurry image. This is especially visible on sport channels.

Received my Mecool M8S Pro L, yesterday, and ran some heat test, still running hot. Installed the latest update (Nov. 27) from Videostrong, but it was not very good.. The Bluetooth was broken and no Chrome. Tried to install the firmware from Nov. 11, but box would not let me replace the firmware with an older version.

Was tired and cranky, so just installed Magendanz's updated ROM, and be done with it. Magendanz's firmware mods, smokes the official firmwares. Now the Bluetooth works, and Chrome works. Awesome mod, but still have a excessive heat issue. It runs around 194 degrees Fahrenheit max, while stressing it running a BlueRay rip in Kodi. Tested again with the top of the box removed, but only dropped the max temp a very few degrees.

Right now, not sure is if it is worth drilling the holes are looking for a fan to install it.......

OR JUST RUN IT AS IS, SINCE THE HEAT ISSUE DOES NOT CAUSE ANY ILL AFFECTS, THAT i CAN SEE.

I tried 2 Slots in the lid - 4 / 6 would help, but none also works if you don't want the work. Takes a while with a Stanley knife ........
You can just see the 2mm air gap at the edge

                      Overview
Stick fan to Lid - Small squares of 3M (Generic) double sided foam tape 15mm wide
                      Double thickness works best.
Neg and +ve from switch - I just tinned the ends and inserted into the red PI plug.
Two pieces of double sided tape hold them in place (leave the red backing on)

Moved the Wi-Fi aerial to the side position - could put it back on the lid if you want.

I have now turned the fan the other way up (removed the white label so that you can't see it through the slots) works as well and easier to mount without fouling concerns !

A good video please, with where you picked up your power and does it power off when you power off your box. Did you cut a hole in the top of the box for the fan to blow out??

                          Thanks.

This video not good enough ?

                            Ah well !
Power is constant everywhere. I chose the 3.3V from the UART pads as the fan runs fast enough and silently at a bit under the rated voltage (Neg is the square pad, you can see where they are in the pic and vid).
I cut 2 slots along the moulded grooves in the lid, 4 might be better but 2 works (see pic) - None also works with 2 thicknesses of mounting sticky foam tape to allow air circulation.
